Extortion Attempt on Bikaner Paediatrician: ₹25 Lakh Demanded, Monthly ‘Protection Fee’ Threats; CCTV Footage and Audio Evidence Submitted
Bikaner | July 29, 2025 — In a shocking case that has sent ripples through the medical fraternity of Bikaner, prominent paediatrician Dr. Shyam Agrawal has lodged a formal police complaint after receiving extortion threats demanding ₹25 lakh in a one-time payment and ₹1 lakh as monthly “protection money”.
According to the FIR registered at the Naya Shahar Police Station, the incident occurred in the early hours of July 24 around 1:45 AM when local resident Vishnu Saadh, Abhishek Panwar, and a few other unidentified miscreants allegedly arrived at Dr. Agrawal’s clinic near Jassusar Gate. The group threatened Dr. Agrawal with dire consequences if he failed to comply with their financial demands.
Dr. Agrawal has stated that he possesses CCTV footage and audio-visual recordings that document the incident and the threats issued against him. He submitted these materials as key evidence during the police investigation.
Following the complaint, a delegation of local doctors met with Bikaner Superintendent of Police Kavendra Singh Sagar on Monday, demanding swift and strict action against the accused. The SP has directed SHO Vikram Tiwari to initiate thorough proceedings. The investigation has been assigned to Head Constable Pancharam.
This is not the first case of criminal intimidation in the region. Prior to this incident, local financier Piyush Shangari had also received threats, reportedly from the Rohit Godara gang — raising concerns about the re-emergence of organized extortion networks in Bikaner.
The medical community, known for its service and trust, has expressed grave concern over the safety of doctors operating private clinics. The matter is being closely monitored, with law enforcement agencies under pressure to ensure the safety and dignity of professionals.

बीकानेर | 29 जुलाई 2025 — बीकानेर शहर के जस्सूसर गेट क्षेत्र में प्रैक्टिस कर रहे शिशु रोग विशेषज्ञ डॉ. श्याम अग्रवाल से ₹25 लाख की एकमुश्त रंगदारी और हर महीने ₹1 लाख की बंदी देने की धमकी दी गई है। इस सनसनीखेज मामले को लेकर चिकित्सक समुदाय में गहरी चिंता और रोष व्याप्त है।
नयाशहर थाने में दर्ज एफआईआर के अनुसार, 24 जुलाई की रात करीब 1:45 बजे मोहल्ले के ही निवासी विष्णु साध, अभिषेक पंवार और अन्य कुछ अज्ञात शरारती तत्व डॉ. अग्रवाल के चैंबर पर आए। उन्होंने ₹25 लाख की मांग की और साथ ही हर माह ₹1 लाख की बंदी न देने पर जान से मारने की धमकी दी। इसके बाद दोबारा चैंबर में घुसकर गंभीर नतीजे भुगतने की चेतावनी दी गई।
डॉ. अग्रवाल ने पुलिस को बताया कि उनके पास CCTV फुटेज, ऑडियो और वीडियो क्लिप्स मौजूद हैं जो इन धमकियों का स्पष्ट प्रमाण देती हैं। उन्होंने ये साक्ष्य पुलिस को सौंप दिए हैं।
घटना के बाद सोमवार को बीकानेर के चिकित्सकों के एक प्रतिनिधिमंडल ने पुलिस अधीक्षक कावेंद्र सिंह सागर से मुलाकात की और अपराधियों पर शीघ्र व सख्त कार्रवाई की मांग की। एसपी ने इस मामले में थानाधिकारी विक्रम तिवारी को निर्देश देते हुए जांच हेड कांस्टेबल पांचाराम को सौंपी है।
गौरतलब है कि इससे पहले बीकानेर में ही एक फाइनेंशियल सलाहकार पीयूष शंगारी को भी कथित रूप से रोहित गोदारा गैंग द्वारा धमकी दी गई थी। इस तरह की घटनाएं बीकानेर में एक बार फिर संगठित अपराध और रंगदारी नेटवर्क के सक्रिय होने के संकेत दे रही हैं।
चिकित्सक समुदाय में भय का माहौल है। निजी क्लीनिक चला रहे डॉक्टरों की सुरक्षा को लेकर गंभीर सवाल उठने लगे हैं। समाज में विश्वास और सेवा का प्रतीक माने जाने वाले इस वर्ग के लिए प्रशासन से तत्काल सुरक्षा उपायों की अपेक्षा की जा रही है।
