India Responds to Nuclear Facility Damage Claims in Pakistan: MEA Reiterates Military Action Was Conventional
India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has officially addressed growing speculation around alleged damage to Pakistan’s nuclear installation in the Kirana Hills region during the recent Indo-Pak military confrontation following Operation Sindoor. At a media briefing on Tuesday, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal dismissed conjectures linking India to any attack on Pakistan’s nuclear assets, clarifying that the Indian military operation remained entirely within the conventional warfare domain.
MEA on Kirana Hills Rumours: “Let Pakistan Respond”
When asked about media reports claiming possible radiation leaks and structural damage to a suspected nuclear weapons facility in Kirana Hills — an area near Sargodha in Pakistan — Jaiswal remarked:
“Talk of Egyptian-American aircraft, radiation teams, or any aerial reconnaissance — those are questions for them (Pakistan) to answer. From our side, the defence briefings were very clear.”
He pointed out that Pakistan’s own government and National Command Authority have officially denied any such incidents, and stressed that India will not comment on speculative narratives originating from across the border.
India Maintains Conventional Deterrence Posture
Reiterating India’s military doctrine, Jaiswal said:
“The military action from our side was entirely in the conventional domain. Our objective was to target terrorist infrastructure and launch pads supporting cross-border terrorism. Any other claims — nuclear, chemical, or radiological — are not only baseless but also irresponsible.”
This statement comes amidst intelligence chatter and open-source satellite data speculations suggesting possible contamination or activity near Kirana Hills, which some analysts linked to a possible Indian airstrike. However, no official confirmation has emerged from either side.
India Will Not Tolerate Nuclear Blackmail or Terrorism
In a firm message to both Pakistan and the global community, the MEA reiterated India’s principled stand against nuclear brinkmanship. Jaiswal stated:
“India will not yield to nuclear blackmail. Nor will we allow cross-border terrorism to be tolerated by invoking nuclear scenarios. We have made this clear to the international community. Any country supporting such coercion risks destabilising its own region.”
The statement is widely interpreted as a warning to countries that may be engaging Pakistan diplomatically while ignoring its history of state-sponsored terrorism and nuclear posturing.
Operation Sindoor and Fallout
The MEA briefing is the latest in a series of official responses following Operation Sindoor, India’s high-intensity counter-terror military campaign conducted between May 7 and May 10, 2025, targeting terror infrastructure across Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and some depth positions in mainland Pakistan. Reports emerged that the Indian Air Force and Special Forces used precision-guided munitions on multiple high-value targets.
In the days following the operation, unusual air traffic involving an Egyptian military jet and a U.S. B-350 AMS aircraft (linked to nuclear monitoring missions) was noted landing in Pakistan. These movements sparked speculation that Pakistan may have suffered a nuclear-related accident — a claim neither confirmed nor denied by Islamabad, though local evacuations and radiation surveys were reportedly carried out.
India Keeps Focus on Terror Infrastructure
Jaiswal concluded his remarks by asserting that India remains focused on neutralizing terrorism and does not seek escalation.
“India has shown strategic restraint but will act decisively when its national security is threatened. Let there be no doubt — we are committed to conventional deterrence and regional stability, but we will not hesitate to act when provoked by terrorism,” he said.
The MEA has also cautioned international observers not to fall for “false flags” or nuclear fear-mongering emanating from Pakistan.

भारत और पाकिस्तान के बीच हालिया सैन्य संघर्ष के बाद पाकिस्तान के किराना हिल्स परमाणु प्रतिष्ठान को हुए कथित नुकसान को लेकर उठ रहे सवालों पर भारत सरकार ने स्पष्ट प्रतिक्रिया दी है। विदेश मंत्रालय के प्रवक्ता रणधीर जायसवाल ने मंगलवार को कहा कि भारत की सैन्य कार्रवाई पूरी तरह पारंपरिक (conventional) थी और किसी भी प्रकार की परमाणु या रेडियोलॉजिकल गतिविधि का इसमें कोई स्थान नहीं था।
MEA की दो टूक – ‘उनके सवालों का जवाब पाकिस्तान दे’
जब मीडिया द्वारा पाकिस्तान के किराना हिल्स क्षेत्र में कथित परमाणु संयंत्र को नुकसान और रेडिएशन रिसाव की खबरों के बारे में सवाल पूछा गया, तो जायसवाल ने कहा:
“मिस्र और अमेरिकी विमान, रेडिएशन टीमें या किसी हवाई निगरानी की बात हो — यह सब पाकिस्तान से पूछा जाना चाहिए। भारत की ओर से रक्षा ब्रीफिंग में पहले ही साफ किया गया है।”
उन्होंने बताया कि पाकिस्तान की सरकार और उसकी नेशनल कमांड अथॉरिटी ने भी ऐसे किसी नुकसान या रिसाव की खबरों को खारिज किया है।
भारत की कार्रवाई पूरी तरह पारंपरिक
भारत की सैन्य नीति पर बोलते हुए जायसवाल ने कहा:
“हमारी सैन्य कार्रवाई पूरी तरह पारंपरिक थी। इसका उद्देश्य पाकिस्तान की जमीन पर मौजूद आतंकवादी ठिकानों और लॉन्च पैड्स को नष्ट करना था। जो खबरें परमाणु या रेडिएशन से जुड़ी हैं, वो न केवल बेबुनियाद हैं, बल्कि गैर-जिम्मेदाराना भी हैं।”
यह बयान उन मीडिया रिपोर्टों और ओपन-सोर्स सेटेलाइट तस्वीरों के बाद आया है, जिनमें किराना हिल्स के पास असामान्य गतिविधि और इलाके से निकाले गए नागरिकों का जिक्र किया गया है।
भारत ने परमाणु ब्लैकमेल को खारिज किया
जायसवाल ने अंतरराष्ट्रीय समुदाय को चेताते हुए कहा:
“भारत किसी भी प्रकार के परमाणु ब्लैकमेल के आगे नहीं झुकेगा। हम क्रॉस बॉर्डर टेररिज्म को छुपाने या जायज़ ठहराने के लिए परमाणु हथियारों का डर फैलाने की कोशिशों को नहीं मानते। हमने यह बात दुनिया भर में स्पष्ट कर दी है।”
उनका इशारा साफ तौर पर उन देशों की ओर था जो पाकिस्तान को सैन्य या कूटनीतिक समर्थन देते हुए आतंकवाद की अनदेखी करते हैं।
ऑपरेशन सिंदूर के बाद की हलचल
7 से 10 मई के बीच चले ऑपरेशन सिंदूर में भारत ने पाक अधिकृत कश्मीर और पाकिस्तान की सीमा के भीतर कई आतंकवादी ठिकानों पर हमले किए। इसके बाद एक मिस्र का सैन्य विमान और अमेरिका का B-350 AMS विमान पाकिस्तान में उतरे — जिसके चलते परमाणु रिसाव या रेडिएशन आपातकाल जैसी आशंकाएं और तेज़ हुईं।
हालांकि पाकिस्तान ने इसे सार्वजनिक रूप से कभी स्वीकार नहीं किया, लेकिन कई स्थानों पर स्थानीय निकासी और पर्यावरण निगरानी की खबरें सामने आईं।
भारत का संदेश स्पष्ट — आतंकवाद नहीं चलेगा
जायसवाल ने प्रेस वार्ता को समाप्त करते हुए कहा:
“भारत क्षेत्रीय स्थिरता के लिए प्रतिबद्ध है, लेकिन आतंकवाद के खिलाफ कार्रवाई करने में हिचक नहीं करेगा। हमारी प्राथमिकता आतंकवाद का सफाया है, न कि किसी देश की संप्रभुता पर हमला।”
