Indian Air Force Cheetah Helicopter Conducts High-Altitude Rescue at 15,000 Feet in Ladakh
Ladakh: In another remarkable display of courage, professionalism and operational commitment, an Indian Air Force (IAF) Cheetah helicopter successfully carried out a challenging casualty evacuation mission from the remote and high-altitude Sumzon Glacier in Pheyang Valley of Ladakh.
The mission involved the evacuation of a 56-year-old Overseas Citizen of India (OCI), settled in the United States, who required urgent medical assistance after being stranded in the difficult terrain of the Sumzon Glacier. The location, situated at an altitude of approximately 15,000 feet above sea level, presented significant challenges for the rescue team and aircrew.
Operating in an extremely demanding high-altitude environment, the IAF Cheetah helicopter crew carefully assessed the terrain and landing conditions before executing the rescue operation. The area offered only a restricted landing zone, surrounded by rugged mountainous terrain and difficult ground conditions, leaving little margin for error during the operation.
Despite these challenges, the highly trained aircrew demonstrated exceptional flying skills and successfully executed a safe landing at the high-altitude location. The survivor was subsequently evacuated from the glacier and flown to Leh, where he was handed over for further medical treatment and care.
High-altitude rescue operations in Ladakh demand extraordinary precision because of the combination of thin air, steep and rugged terrain, unpredictable weather conditions and limited landing spaces. Helicopter operations at such elevations require careful management of aircraft performance and landing conditions, making the successful completion of the mission a significant demonstration of the IAF’s operational expertise.
The Cheetah helicopter, known for its ability to operate in high-altitude areas, continues to play an important role in supporting India’s military and humanitarian missions in the mountainous regions of the Himalayas. 15,000 फीट की ऊंचाई पर IAF का साहसिक रेस्क्यू ऑपरेशन, Cheetah Helicopter ने Sumzon Glacier से 56 वर्षीय OCI को सुरक्षित निकाला
लद्दाख: भारतीय वायुसेना ने एक बार फिर अपने अदम्य साहस, पेशेवर दक्षता और जीवन बचाने के संकल्प का शानदार प्रदर्शन करते हुए लद्दाख के बेहद दुर्गम और ऊंचाई वाले क्षेत्र में एक चुनौतीपूर्ण Casualty Evacuation (Casevac) मिशन को सफलतापूर्वक अंजाम दिया। भारतीय वायुसेना के Cheetah Helicopter ने करीब 15,000 फीट की ऊंचाई पर स्थित Sumzon Glacier, Pheyang Valley से 56 वर्षीय एक Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) को सुरक्षित बाहर निकाला और आगे के चिकित्सा उपचार के लिए लेह पहुंचाया।
जानकारी के अनुसार, 56 वर्षीय OCI अमेरिका में बसे हुए हैं और उन्हें Sumzon Glacier के अत्यंत दुर्गम क्षेत्र से तत्काल चिकित्सा सहायता की आवश्यकता थी। यह इलाका करीब 15,000 फीट की ऊंचाई पर स्थित है, जहां कठिन पर्वतीय भूभाग, सीमित पहुंच और हेलीकॉप्टर लैंडिंग के लिए बेहद कम जगह जैसी चुनौतियां मौजूद थीं।
रेस्क्यू मिशन के दौरान भारतीय वायुसेना के Cheetah Helicopter के एयरक्रू के सामने सबसे बड़ी चुनौती सीमित लैंडिंग एरिया थी। ऊंचाई वाले क्षेत्रों में हेलीकॉप्टर संचालन सामान्य परिस्थितियों की तुलना में कहीं अधिक चुनौतीपूर्ण होता है। ऐसे इलाकों में हवा का कम घनत्व, ऊबड़-खाबड़ पर्वतीय भूभाग, अचानक बदलने वाला मौसम और सीमित लैंडिंग स्पेस पायलटों के लिए अतिरिक्त चुनौती पैदा करते हैं।
इन तमाम मुश्किल परिस्थितियों के बावजूद भारतीय वायुसेना के प्रशिक्षित एयरक्रू ने बेहद सटीक उड़ान कौशल और पेशेवर दक्षता का प्रदर्शन किया। एयरक्रू ने इलाके का सावधानीपूर्वक आकलन करने के बाद प्रतिबंधित लैंडिंग क्षेत्र में सुरक्षित लैंडिंग को अंजाम दिया।
हेलीकॉप्टर के सुरक्षित रूप से लैंड करने के बाद 56 वर्षीय व्यक्ति को वहां से निकाला गया और तत्काल चिकित्सा सहायता के लिए सुरक्षित रूप से लेह ले जाया गया। लेह पहुंचने के बाद उन्हें आगे के आवश्यक चिकित्सा उपचार और देखभाल के लिए सौंपा गया।
लद्दाख जैसे उच्च हिमालयी क्षेत्रों में किसी व्यक्ति को आपात स्थिति में निकालना बेहद जटिल अभियान माना जाता है। यहां कई स्थान सड़क नेटवर्क से दूर हैं और कठिन भूभाग के कारण जमीन के रास्ते राहत पहुंचाने में काफी समय लग सकता है। ऐसे में भारतीय वायुसेना के हेलीकॉप्टर दुर्गम क्षेत्रों तक तेजी से पहुंचकर जीवन बचाने वाले अभियानों में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाते हैं।

56 वर्षीय OCI को सुरक्षित निकालकर लेह पहुंचाने वाला यह ऑपरेशन भारतीय वायुसेना के उस संकल्प को भी दर्शाता है, जिसके तहत जरूरत के समय कठिन से कठिन परिस्थितियों में भी लोगों की जान बचाने के लिए उसके जवान और एयरक्रू पूरी तत्परता के साथ काम करते हैं।
