Indian Air Force’s Suryakiran Aerobatic Team Paints Bhavnagar Skies in Tricolour; Nine Hawk Jets Deliver Spectacular Air Show Over Bor Talav
Bhavnagar, November 1, 2026: The skies over Bhavnagar witnessed an extraordinary display of aerial precision, teamwork and flying excellence as the Indian Air Force’s renowned Suryakiran Aerobatic Team successfully conducted a spectacular air show over Bor Talav (Gaurishankar Lake) on Sunday. In a first-of-its-kind aerial spectacle hosted by the city, nine red-and-white Hawk Mk-132 aircraft took to the skies, performing breathtaking aerobatic manoeuvres and painting the atmosphere with saffron, white and green smoke trails representing the colours of the Indian national flag.
The spectacular display attracted large crowds of residents, students, aviation enthusiasts and visitors, who gathered along the shores of Bor Talav and at several vantage points across Bhavnagar to witness the precision and professionalism of India’s premier aerobatic formation. Lasting approximately 30 to 40 minutes, the performance showcased the Indian Air Force’s exceptional flying capabilities, operational discipline and the remarkable coordination of its pilots.
The nine Hawk Mk-132 aircraft executed a series of complex aerial manoeuvres, including close formation flying, wingtip-to-wingtip sequences, loops, rolls, inverted flying and other demanding aerobatic routines. The aircraft moved through the sky in carefully synchronised formations, demonstrating the extraordinary level of concentration, coordination and trust required to execute such high-precision flying.
The colourful smoke trails left behind by the aircraft transformed the skies above Gaurishankar Lake into a spectacular representation of the national Tricolour, creating a memorable visual experience for the people of Bhavnagar.
SURYAKIRAN: THE AERIAL AMBASSADORS OF THE INDIAN AIR FORCE
Established in 1996, the Suryakiran Aerobatic Team is recognised as Asia’s only nine-aircraft aerobatic formation. Over nearly three decades, the team has emerged as one of the most recognisable symbols of the Indian Air Force, representing the country’s aviation capabilities, professional excellence and commitment to precision flying.
Operating the Hawk Mk-132 advanced jet trainer aircraft, manufactured under licence in India by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Suryakiran has performed more than 800 aerial displays in India and abroad. Its performances have consistently demonstrated the high standards of flying skill, discipline and coordination maintained by the Indian Air Force.
The team’s motto, Sadaiva Sarvottam — Always the Best — was reflected throughout Sunday’s performance. Every formation change, aerial manoeuvre and synchronised movement demonstrated the extensive preparation and rigorous training that go into delivering a flawless aerobatic display.
The team is commanded by Group Captain Ajay Dasarathi, with Wing Commander Tejeshwar Singh serving as the Flight Commander. The seamless coordination among the 13 pilots, along with the contribution of technical and operational support personnel, played a vital role in the successful execution of the event.
Behind every spectacular aerial sequence is a highly disciplined support system involving aircraft maintenance specialists, ground crew, safety personnel and operational planners. Their combined efforts ensure that each aircraft is prepared to meet the demanding requirements of precision aerobatic flying.
BEYOND THE AIR SHOW: INDIAN AIR FORCE CONNECTS WITH YOUNG GENERATION
The Bhavnagar event was not limited to an aerial performance. The Indian Air Force organised several public engagement activities to introduce citizens, particularly students and young aspirants, to the opportunities and professional life associated with the Air Force.
A dedicated motivational stall provided detailed information about career opportunities, selection procedures and the different pathways through which young Indians can join the Indian Air Force. Students and aspiring candidates interacted with representatives and gained insights into the discipline, commitment and professional standards required to serve in the force.
An Air Simulator facility emerged as another major attraction, offering visitors an opportunity to experience aircraft controls and basic flying procedures in a simulated environment. The facility generated considerable enthusiasm among participants from different age groups and provided them with a glimpse of the technical and operational aspects of aviation.
Adding a musical dimension to the celebrations, the Air Force Band of Headquarters South Western Air Command presented an impressive performance featuring martial tunes, patriotic melodies and ceremonial compositions. The musical presentation enhanced the atmosphere of the event and strengthened the emotional connection between the armed forces and the citizens.
Together, the aerial display, motivational activities, flight simulator experience and band performance transformed the programme into a comprehensive public outreach initiative.
UNION MINISTER NIMUBEN BAMBHANIYA ATTENDS AS CHIEF GUEST
The event was organised jointly by the Bhavnagar Municipal Corporation and the District Administration of Bhavnagar, with free entry for all citizens. Designated viewing areas around Bor Talav and elevated locations across the city enabled spectators to watch the display safely.
Smt Nimuben Bambhaniya, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of India, attended the programme as the Chief Guest.
Air Vice Marshal GS Bhullar, Senior Officer Administration, Headquarters South Western Air Command, Gandhinagar, was among the special guests. Senior ministers of the Gujarat Government, elected representatives from the region and local civil administration officials also attended the occasion.
The presence of senior military and civilian leadership highlighted the strong institutional partnership between the Indian Air Force, Gujarat’s state administration and the people of Bhavnagar.
The successful organisation of the event reflected the coordination between the district administration, municipal authorities, police and other supporting agencies. The Indian Air Force placed on record its appreciation for their assistance and acknowledged the enthusiastic participation and warm reception extended by the citizens.

भावनगर, 1 नवंबर 2026: गुजरात के भावनगर में रविवार को भारतीय वायुसेना की प्रतिष्ठित सूर्यकिरण एरोबैटिक टीम (Suryakiran Aerobatic Team) ने अपने शानदार हवाई प्रदर्शन से आसमान में रोमांच और देशभक्ति का अनूठा नजारा पेश किया। शहर के बोर तालाब (गौरीशंकर झील) के ऊपर आयोजित इस विशेष एयर शो में भारतीय वायुसेना के नौ लाल और सफेद रंग के हॉक Mk-132 विमानों ने एक के बाद एक हैरतअंगेज हवाई करतब दिखाए। विमानों से निकली केसरिया, सफेद और हरे रंग की धुएं की लकीरों ने भावनगर के आसमान को तिरंगे के रंगों से सजा दिया। यह शहर में अपनी तरह का पहला हवाई प्रदर्शन था, जिसे देखने के लिए बड़ी संख्या में लोग झील के किनारे और शहर के अलग-अलग ऊंचे स्थानों पर एकत्रित हुए।
लगभग 30 से 40 मिनट तक चले इस एयर शो में भारतीय वायुसेना के पायलटों ने सटीक उड़ान कौशल, अद्भुत तालमेल, अनुशासन और पेशेवर दक्षता का शानदार प्रदर्शन किया। नौ हॉक Mk-132 विमानों ने एक साथ बेहद नजदीकी फॉर्मेशन में उड़ान भरते हुए विंगटिप-टू-विंगटिप फ्लाइंग, लूप्स, रोल्स, इनवर्टेड फ्लाइंग और कई जटिल एरोबैटिक करतबों का प्रदर्शन किया। आसमान में विमानों की सटीक संरचना और एक-दूसरे के साथ उनका बेहतरीन तालमेल देखकर दर्शक रोमांचित हो उठे।
बोर तालाब के ऊपर जब नौ विमानों ने एक साथ अलग-अलग फॉर्मेशन में उड़ान भरी और उनके पीछे तिरंगे के तीन रंगों की धुएं की लकीरें दिखाई दीं, तो पूरा वातावरण देशभक्ति के रंग में रंग गया। भावनगर के नागरिकों के लिए यह केवल एक एयर शो नहीं, बल्कि भारतीय वायुसेना की क्षमता, साहस और अनुशासन को करीब से देखने का यादगार अवसर बन गया।
1996 में स्थापित सूर्यकिरण टीम एशिया की एकमात्र नौ-विमान एरोबैटिक फॉर्मेशन
भारतीय वायुसेना की सूर्यकिरण एरोबैटिक टीम देश की सबसे प्रतिष्ठित हवाई प्रदर्शन टीमों में शामिल है। वर्ष 1996 में स्थापित इस टीम को एशिया की एकमात्र नौ-विमान एरोबैटिक फॉर्मेशन के रूप में पहचान हासिल है। लगभग तीन दशकों से यह टीम देश और विदेश में अपने शानदार हवाई प्रदर्शनों के माध्यम से भारतीय वायुसेना की पेशेवर क्षमता और उड़ान कौशल का परिचय दे रही है।
सूर्यकिरण टीम भारतीय वायुसेना के हॉक Mk-132 एडवांस्ड जेट ट्रेनर विमानों का संचालन करती है। इन विमानों का भारत में हिंदुस्तान एयरोनॉटिक्स लिमिटेड (HAL) द्वारा लाइसेंस के तहत निर्माण किया जाता है। टीम अब तक भारत और विदेशों में 800 से अधिक हवाई प्रदर्शन कर चुकी है। अपने शानदार फॉर्मेशन, सटीक उड़ान और चुनौतीपूर्ण एरोबैटिक करतबों के कारण सूर्यकिरण टीम को भारतीय वायुसेना का हवाई राजदूत भी कहा जाता है।
टीम का आदर्श वाक्य ‘सदैव सर्वोत्तम’ (Sadaiva Sarvottam) है, जिसका अर्थ है हमेशा सर्वश्रेष्ठ रहना। भावनगर में आयोजित प्रदर्शन के दौरान टीम ने अपने इस आदर्श वाक्य को पूरी तरह चरितार्थ किया। विमानों के बीच बेहद कम दूरी बनाए रखते हुए जटिल करतबों को अंजाम देना पायलटों के उच्च स्तरीय प्रशिक्षण, एकाग्रता और आपसी विश्वास का प्रमाण रहा।
सूर्यकिरण एरोबैटिक टीम की कमान ग्रुप कैप्टन अजय दशरथी के हाथों में है, जबकि विंग कमांडर तेजेश्वर सिंह फ्लाइट कमांडर के रूप में जिम्मेदारी निभा रहे हैं। टीम के 13 पायलटों के बीच बेहतरीन समन्वय और उनके साथ काम करने वाले तकनीकी एवं परिचालन कर्मियों की भूमिका ने इस प्रदर्शन को सफल बनाने में महत्वपूर्ण योगदान दिया।
इस तरह के एरोबैटिक प्रदर्शन के पीछे केवल पायलटों का कौशल ही नहीं, बल्कि विमानों के रखरखाव, तकनीकी जांच, ग्राउंड सपोर्ट, सुरक्षा और परिचालन योजना से जुड़ी पूरी टीम का समर्पण भी होता है। हर विमान को प्रदर्शन के लिए तैयार करने और उड़ान के दौरान सुरक्षा एवं सटीकता सुनिश्चित करने में तकनीकी विशेषज्ञों की महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका रहती है।
एयर शो के साथ युवाओं को भारतीय वायुसेना में करियर बनाने के लिए किया प्रेरित
भावनगर में आयोजित यह कार्यक्रम केवल आसमान में विमानों के करतब दिखाने तक सीमित नहीं रहा, बल्कि भारतीय वायुसेना ने इसे युवाओं और आम नागरिकों से जुड़ने के एक बड़े जनसंपर्क अभियान के रूप में भी आयोजित किया।
कार्यक्रम स्थल पर भारतीय वायुसेना की ओर से विशेष मोटिवेशनल स्टॉल लगाया गया, जहां विद्यार्थियों और युवाओं को वायुसेना में उपलब्ध करियर के अवसरों, चयन प्रक्रिया, पात्रता और सैन्य जीवन से जुड़ी विस्तृत जानकारी दी गई। इस पहल का उद्देश्य नई पीढ़ी को भारतीय वायुसेना की कार्यप्रणाली से परिचित कराना और उन्हें राष्ट्रसेवा के लिए सशस्त्र बलों में शामिल होने के लिए प्रेरित करना था।
इसके अलावा एयर सिम्युलेटर की सुविधा भी उपलब्ध कराई गई, जहां लोगों को विमान के कंट्रोल और उड़ान संचालन की प्रक्रियाओं का वास्तविक अनुभव देने का प्रयास किया गया। सिम्युलेटर के माध्यम से प्रतिभागियों को यह समझने का अवसर मिला कि विमान उड़ाने के दौरान पायलट किस तरह नियंत्रण प्रणाली और विभिन्न तकनीकी प्रक्रियाओं का इस्तेमाल करते हैं। बच्चों, विद्यार्थियों और विमानन में रुचि रखने वाले लोगों के बीच यह सुविधा विशेष आकर्षण का केंद्र रही।
कार्यक्रम में मुख्यालय दक्षिण पश्चिमी वायु कमान (Headquarters South Western Air Command) के एयर फोर्स बैंड ने भी शानदार प्रस्तुति दी। बैंड ने सैन्य धुनों, देशभक्ति गीतों और औपचारिक समारोहों में बजाई जाने वाली विशेष धुनों के माध्यम से कार्यक्रम में एक अलग ही उत्साह और गरिमा का माहौल तैयार किया।
एयर शो, मोटिवेशनल स्टॉल, एयर सिम्युलेटर और वायुसेना बैंड की प्रस्तुतियों ने इस आयोजन को एक व्यापक जनसंपर्क कार्यक्रम का स्वरूप दिया। इससे आम नागरिकों को न केवल भारतीय वायुसेना की हवाई क्षमताओं को देखने का अवसर मिला, बल्कि वायुसेना के पेशेवर जीवन, प्रशिक्षण और करियर संभावनाओं को समझने का भी मौका मिला।

इस विशेष एयर शो का आयोजन भावनगर नगर निगम और जिला प्रशासन के संयुक्त तत्वावधान में किया गया। कार्यक्रम में सभी नागरिकों के लिए प्रवेश निशुल्क रखा गया था। दर्शकों की सुविधा और सुरक्षा को ध्यान में रखते हुए बोर तालाब के आसपास निर्धारित स्थानों और शहर के ऊंचे इलाकों से हवाई प्रदर्शन देखने की व्यवस्था की गई थी।
कार्यक्रम में भारत सरकार की उपभोक्ता मामले, खाद्य एवं सार्वजनिक वितरण राज्य मंत्री श्रीमती निमुबेन बंभानिया मुख्य अतिथि के रूप में उपस्थित रहीं।
इसके अलावा गांधीनगर स्थित मुख्यालय दक्षिण पश्चिमी वायु कमान के सीनियर ऑफिसर एडमिनिस्ट्रेशन एयर वाइस मार्शल जीएस भुल्लर विशेष अतिथि के रूप में शामिल हुए। गुजरात सरकार के वरिष्ठ मंत्री, क्षेत्र के निर्वाचित जनप्रतिनिधि और स्थानीय प्रशासन के अधिकारी भी इस अवसर पर मौजूद रहे।
सैन्य और नागरिक प्रशासन के वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों की उपस्थिति ने भारतीय वायुसेना और गुजरात के प्रशासनिक तंत्र के बीच बेहतर समन्वय तथा नागरिकों के साथ मजबूत संस्थागत संबंधों को प्रदर्शित किया।
कार्यक्रम के सफल आयोजन में जिला प्रशासन, भावनगर नगर निगम, पुलिस और अन्य सहयोगी एजेंसियों ने महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई। भारतीय वायुसेना ने आयोजन को सुचारू रूप से संपन्न कराने में सहयोग देने वाले सभी विभागों और एजेंसियों के प्रति आभार व्यक्त किया। साथ ही भावनगर के नागरिकों की बड़ी भागीदारी और उत्साहपूर्ण स्वागत की भी सराहना की।
