Infantry Day Celebrations at the Infantry School Mhow on 27 Oct 2023

27th October is a historically significant day for the Nation as 77 years ago on this day the First Battalion of the Sikh Regiment of the Indian Army landed at Srinagar airfield and resolutely defended Kashmir from falling into Pakistani hands. To commemorate this gallant action of the Infantry, 27th October is celebrated as the “INFANTRY DAY”.

The Infantry Day celebrations at the Infantry School , commenced with wreath laying on 28 Oct 2023 at the Infantry Memorial by Lt Gen PN Ananthanarayanan , AVSM , SM , Commandant , The Infantry School , Mhow and also by a large number of senior serving Infantry officers, veterans and other ranks to remember the fallen heroes of Infantry and salute their sacrifice. A mega event in the form of Infantry Day Marathon “Runveer 5.0 ” is scheduled on 29 Oct 2023.

The Infantry arm of Indian Army is one of the largest in the World and rightly called the “Queen of Battle “. The Infantry soldiers have always contributed towards Nation building in the true traditions of the Indian Army. Infantry soldiers have also been intimately associated with humanitarian relief in natural calamities and shouldering additional responsibilities in peace keeping missions to bring global peace on behalf of United Nations.
