INS Mysore Arrives in Malaysia for 4th Edition of India-Malaysia Maritime Exercise ‘Samudra Laksamana’
Lumut, Malaysia | September 10, 2026: Strengthening India’s maritime engagement with Southeast Asia, Indian Navy’s frontline warship INS Mysore arrived at Lumut, Malaysia, on September 9, 2026, to participate in the 4th edition of the bilateral maritime exercise ‘Samudra Laksamana’ with the Royal Malaysian Navy.
The arrival of INS Mysore marks another significant step in the growing defence and maritime partnership between India and Malaysia, with the exercise aimed at enhancing operational cooperation, interoperability and professional exchanges between the two navies.
As part of the Indian Navy’s operational deployment, INS Mysore and its crew received a warm welcome from personnel of the Royal Malaysian Navy as well as officials from the High Commission of India in Malaysia. The port call and exercise engagement are expected to provide an important platform for Indian and Malaysian naval personnel to interact closely and share operational experiences.
The Samudra Laksamana exercise combines a series of professional engagements both in harbour and at sea. The programme includes cross-deck visits, operational interactions and sporting engagements, allowing personnel from the two navies to gain a better understanding of each other’s procedures, capabilities and professional practices.
The maritime exercise is particularly significant as India and Malaysia continue to expand defence cooperation in the maritime domain. Through operational interactions and joint activities, the exercise is expected to strengthen mutual understanding and build greater confidence between the participating naval forces.
The latest engagement also builds upon the momentum generated by recent bilateral defence interactions. Among these was the 12th India-Malaysia Sub Committee Meeting held on July 1, 2026, which provided another platform for the two countries to discuss and strengthen defence and security cooperation.
The deployment of INS Mysore to Malaysia therefore carries significance beyond the exercise itself. It reflects the broader effort by India and Malaysia to maintain regular maritime engagements and strengthen professional links between their armed forces.
For the Indian Navy, such bilateral exercises provide opportunities to operate alongside partner navies, exchange operational knowledge and improve interoperability. For Malaysia, engagement with the Indian Navy contributes to closer maritime cooperation with a major regional naval power.
The exercise also comes against the backdrop of India’s increasing maritime engagement with the ASEAN region. India has consistently placed strong emphasis on maritime security, freedom of navigation, regional stability and cooperation with partner countries across the Indo-Pacific.
The engagement is aligned with the Government of India’s vision of MAHASAGAR — Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions — which seeks to deepen India’s maritime cooperation with countries across the wider Indian Ocean and Indo-Pacific regions.
It also coincides with the ASEAN–India Year of Maritime Cooperation 2026, giving the exercise additional strategic relevance as India and ASEAN countries seek to expand cooperation in the maritime domain.
The presence of INS Mysore in Malaysian waters demonstrates India’s continued commitment to maintaining an operational presence and strengthening partnerships with friendly maritime nations. Regular exercises such as Samudra Laksamana help transform diplomatic and defence relationships into practical cooperation at sea.
The 4th edition of the exercise is consequently expected to further consolidate the longstanding India-Malaysia maritime relationship while providing personnel from both navies with valuable opportunities for professional interaction, operational learning and greater interoperability.
The engagement reinforces the message that India’s maritime partnerships in Southeast Asia are steadily expanding, with naval cooperation playing an important role in advancing mutual security, regional stability and a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific.

मलेशिया के लुमुट पहुंचा INS Mysore, भारत-मलेशिया के बीच चौथे समुद्री युद्धाभ्यास ‘समुद्र लक्ष्मणा’ में लेगा हिस्सा
लुमुट, मलेशिया | 10 सितंबर 2026: दक्षिण-पूर्व एशिया में भारत की बढ़ती समुद्री सक्रियता और रक्षा सहयोग के बीच भारतीय नौसेना का अत्याधुनिक युद्धपोत INS Mysore 9 सितंबर 2026 को मलेशिया के लुमुट बंदरगाह पहुंच गया। भारतीय नौसेना का यह युद्धपोत भारत और रॉयल मलेशियन नेवी के बीच होने वाले द्विपक्षीय समुद्री युद्धाभ्यास ‘समुद्र लक्ष्मणा’ के चौथे संस्करण में हिस्सा लेने पहुंचा है।
INS Mysore के मलेशिया पहुंचने के साथ ही दोनों देशों की नौसेनाओं के बीच समुद्री सहयोग को और मजबूती मिलने की उम्मीद है। यह युद्धाभ्यास भारत और मलेशिया के बीच लंबे समय से चले आ रहे रक्षा एवं समुद्री संबंधों को आगे बढ़ाने की दिशा में एक महत्वपूर्ण कदम माना जा रहा है।
भारतीय नौसेना की ऑपरेशनल तैनाती के तहत लुमुट पहुंचे INS Mysore और उसके चालक दल का रॉयल मलेशियन नेवी के अधिकारियों एवं जवानों तथा मलेशिया में भारतीय उच्चायोग के अधिकारियों ने गर्मजोशी से स्वागत किया। इस दौरान दोनों देशों के नौसैनिकों के बीच पेशेवर संवाद और आपसी संपर्क को बढ़ावा देने पर विशेष जोर रहेगा।
समुद्र में साथ दिखेगी भारत-मलेशिया की नौसैनिक ताकत
‘समुद्र लक्ष्मणा’ केवल समुद्र में सैन्य अभ्यास तक सीमित नहीं है, बल्कि इसमें बंदरगाह और समुद्र दोनों स्तरों पर कई पेशेवर गतिविधियां शामिल हैं। इस दौरान दोनों देशों के नौसैनिक क्रॉस-डेक विजिट, ऑपरेशनल इंटरैक्शन और खेल गतिविधियों में हिस्सा लेंगे।
क्रॉस-डेक विजिट के माध्यम से दोनों नौसेनाओं के अधिकारी और जवान एक-दूसरे के युद्धपोतों की कार्यप्रणाली और संचालन प्रक्रियाओं को करीब से समझ सकेंगे। वहीं ऑपरेशनल इंटरैक्शन के जरिए दोनों नौसेनाओं के बीच पेशेवर अनुभवों का आदान-प्रदान होगा।
इस तरह की गतिविधियां दोनों देशों के सैन्यकर्मियों के बीच आपसी विश्वास, बेहतर तालमेल और इंटरऑपरेबिलिटी को मजबूत करने में अहम भूमिका निभाती हैं।
भारत-मलेशिया समुद्री साझेदारी को नई मजबूती
INS Mysore की यह यात्रा ऐसे समय में हो रही है जब भारत और मलेशिया के बीच रक्षा एवं सुरक्षा सहयोग लगातार विस्तार ले रहा है। दोनों देशों ने हाल के वर्षों में समुद्री सुरक्षा और सैन्य सहयोग के क्षेत्र में अपने संपर्क को लगातार मजबूत किया है।
इस दिशा में 1 जुलाई 2026 को आयोजित 12वीं India-Malaysia Sub Committee Meeting भी महत्वपूर्ण रही थी। इस बैठक के बाद दोनों देशों के बीच रक्षा सहयोग को आगे बढ़ाने की प्रक्रिया को और गति मिली है।
INS Mysore की मौजूदा तैनाती इसी व्यापक द्विपक्षीय रक्षा साझेदारी की निरंतरता के रूप में देखी जा रही है। नियमित नौसैनिक अभ्यास दोनों देशों को एक-दूसरे की क्षमताओं, प्रक्रियाओं और ऑपरेशनल तरीकों को समझने का अवसर देते हैं।
हिंद-प्रशांत में भारत की बढ़ती समुद्री भागीदारी
भारत के लिए मलेशिया के साथ नौसैनिक सहयोग का महत्व केवल द्विपक्षीय संबंधों तक सीमित नहीं है। मलेशिया दक्षिण-पूर्व एशिया और व्यापक हिंद-प्रशांत क्षेत्र में एक महत्वपूर्ण समुद्री देश है। ऐसे में भारतीय नौसेना और रॉयल मलेशियन नेवी के बीच नियमित संपर्क क्षेत्रीय समुद्री सुरक्षा के लिहाज से भी महत्वपूर्ण है।
भारतीय नौसेना लगातार मित्र देशों की नौसेनाओं के साथ संयुक्त अभ्यास और ऑपरेशनल गतिविधियों के माध्यम से अपने समुद्री साझेदारियों को मजबूत कर रही है। ऐसे अभ्यासों से समुद्री क्षेत्र में साझा समझ, आपसी विश्वास और संयुक्त रूप से काम करने की क्षमता विकसित होती है।
MAHASAGAR विजन से जुड़ा है समुद्री सहयोग
INS Mysore की मलेशिया यात्रा और ‘समुद्र लक्ष्मणा’ अभ्यास भारत सरकार के MAHASAGAR — Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions के व्यापक दृष्टिकोण के अनुरूप है।
भारत इस विजन के तहत हिंद महासागर क्षेत्र और हिंद-प्रशांत में मित्र एवं साझेदार देशों के साथ सुरक्षा, विकास और समुद्री सहयोग को मजबूत करने पर जोर दे रहा है।
इसके अलावा यह engagement ASEAN–India Year of Maritime Cooperation 2026 के व्यापक संदर्भ में भी महत्वपूर्ण है। भारत और ASEAN देशों के बीच समुद्री सहयोग को मजबूत करने के प्रयासों के बीच भारत-मलेशिया नौसैनिक अभ्यास क्षेत्रीय साझेदारी की दिशा में एक अहम पहल है।
समुद्री सुरक्षा और रणनीतिक साझेदारी को मिलेगा बल
INS Mysore का लुमुट पहुंचना भारत की समुद्री कूटनीति और ऑपरेशनल तैनाती का भी महत्वपूर्ण हिस्सा है। नियमित नौसैनिक अभ्यासों के जरिए भारत अपने मित्र देशों के साथ रक्षा संबंधों को केवल राजनीतिक और कूटनीतिक स्तर तक सीमित नहीं रखता, बल्कि उन्हें व्यावहारिक सैन्य सहयोग और समुद्री ऑपरेशनल इंटरैक्शन में बदलता है।
‘समुद्र लक्ष्मणा’ के चौथे संस्करण से दोनों नौसेनाओं के जवानों और अधिकारियों को एक-दूसरे से पेशेवर अनुभव हासिल करने, संचालन संबंधी समझ विकसित करने और आपसी तालमेल को बेहतर बनाने का अवसर मिलेगा।
