INS TRISHUL MAKES PORT CALL AT ALEXANDRIA, EGYPT, STRENGTHENING INDIA-EGYPT MARITIME COOPERATION
Alexandria, Egypt: Indian Navy’s guided missile frigate INS Trishul made a port call at Alexandria, Egypt, from 14 to 17 September 2026, as part of its ongoing deployment, further strengthening the longstanding maritime partnership between India and Egypt.
The Indian Navy warship received a warm welcome on arrival at Alexandria Harbour, with Egyptian Naval Ship Al Qadeer escorting INS Trishul into the harbour. The port call provided an opportunity for personnel of the two navies to interact and further deepen professional and maritime ties between the two friendly nations.
During the visit, the Commanding Officer and crew of INS Trishul paid homage to the bravehearts of the two World Wars at the Chatby War Memorial in Alexandria. The memorial contains 12 burials and bears the names of 19 Indian soldiers who lost their lives aboard ships sunk in the Eastern Mediterranean, providing an important historical link between India and the region.
The visit also included an interaction with H.E. Suresh K. Reddy, Ambassador of India to Egypt, who visited INS Trishul and interacted with the ship’s crew. During his interaction, the Ambassador highlighted the importance of the Indian Navy’s presence in the region and the role played by naval deployments in strengthening India’s maritime engagement with partner countries.
A key operational highlight of the port call was the conduct of a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) between INS Trishul and Egyptian Navy Ship ENS Bernees. The exercise featured coordinated manoeuvring drills, communication exercises and approaches for replenishment at sea.
The PASSEX provided personnel from both navies with an opportunity to exchange professional expertise, practise coordinated procedures and enhance interoperability between the Indian and Egyptian naval forces. Such exercises also contribute to maintaining operational familiarity and strengthening the ability of the two navies to operate together at sea.
The port call at Alexandria and the PASSEX with ENS Bernees underline the enduring maritime relationship between India and Egypt. The engagement contributes to strengthening naval cooperation, professional exchanges and maritime interoperability between the two countries while reinforcing India’s engagement with friendly maritime partners in the region.

अलेक्जेंड्रिया, मिस्र: भारतीय नौसेना का गाइडेड मिसाइल फ्रिगेट INS Trishul अपने समुद्री तैनाती अभियान के तहत 14 से 17 सितंबर 2026 तक मिस्र के अलेक्जेंड्रिया बंदरगाह पर रहा। इस पोर्ट कॉल के दौरान भारतीय और मिस्र की नौसेनाओं के बीच पेशेवर संपर्क, समुद्री सहयोग और आपसी इंटरऑपरेबिलिटी को मजबूत करने पर जोर दिया गया।
अलेक्जेंड्रिया हार्बर पहुंचने पर INS Trishul का मिस्र की नौसेना के जहाज Al Qadeer ने एस्कॉर्ट करते हुए गर्मजोशी से स्वागत किया। इस दौरान दोनों देशों की नौसेनाओं के अधिकारियों और कर्मियों के बीच पेशेवर आदान-प्रदान और बातचीत का अवसर मिला।
INS Trishul के कमांडिंग ऑफिसर और क्रू ने अलेक्जेंड्रिया स्थित Chatby War Memorial पर दोनों विश्व युद्धों के बहादुर सैनिकों को श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित की। इस युद्ध स्मारक में 12 कब्रें हैं और पूर्वी भूमध्यसागर में डूबे जहाजों पर जान गंवाने वाले 19 भारतीय सैनिकों के नाम दर्ज हैं। इस श्रद्धांजलि कार्यक्रम ने भारत और मिस्र के बीच मौजूद ऐतिहासिक सैन्य और समुद्री संबंधों की विरासत को भी सामने रखा।
पोर्ट कॉल के दौरान मिस्र में भारत के राजदूत H.E. Suresh K. Reddy ने INS Trishul का दौरा किया और जहाज के अधिकारियों एवं क्रू से मुलाकात की। बातचीत के दौरान उन्होंने क्षेत्र में भारतीय नौसेना की मौजूदगी के महत्व को रेखांकित किया और समुद्री तैनाती के जरिए भारत के मित्र देशों के साथ बढ़ते समुद्री जुड़ाव पर जोर दिया।
इस पोर्ट कॉल का एक प्रमुख परिचालन पहलू भारतीय नौसेना के INS Trishul और Egyptian Navy Ship ENS Bernees के बीच Passage Exercise यानी PASSEX का आयोजन रहा। इस अभ्यास में दोनों नौसेनाओं ने समन्वित manoeuvring drills, communication exercises और समुद्र में replenishment के लिए approaches का अभ्यास किया।
PASSEX के दौरान दोनों नौसेनाओं के कर्मियों को समुद्री संचालन से जुड़ी प्रक्रियाओं का अभ्यास करने, पेशेवर अनुभव साझा करने और एक-दूसरे की operational procedures को समझने का अवसर मिला। अभ्यास का उद्देश्य दोनों नौसेनाओं के बीच interoperability और coordination को और मजबूत करना रहा।
INS Trishul और ENS Bernees के बीच हुआ PASSEX भारत और मिस्र की नौसेनाओं के बीच बढ़ते समुद्री सहयोग को दर्शाता है। इस तरह के अभ्यास दोनों देशों की नौसेनाओं को समुद्र में एक-दूसरे के साथ समन्वित तरीके से काम करने की क्षमता विकसित करने में मदद करते हैं और नियमित operational engagement को बढ़ावा देते हैं।
INS Trishul का अलेक्जेंड्रिया पोर्ट कॉल और Egyptian Navy के साथ PASSEX भारत और मिस्र के बीच लंबे समय से चले आ रहे मैत्रीपूर्ण समुद्री संबंधों को और मजबूत करता है। यह तैनाती पेशेवर आदान-प्रदान, समुद्री सहयोग और दोनों नौसेनाओं के बीच operational interoperability को बढ़ाने की दिशा में एक महत्वपूर्ण कदम रही।
