INTER CAPF DEBATE COMPETITION, NORTH-EAST ZONE ON HUMAN RIGHTS HELD AT ASSAM RIFLES TRAINING CENTRE & SCHOOL, SUKHOVI

An Inter-CAPF debate competition of North-East region is held on 12 Oct 2023 at the Assam Rifles Training Centre and School, Shokhuvi, Dimapur in Nagaland. Members from the seven CAPFs namely BSF, CRPF, CISF, SSB, ITBP, RPF and Assam Rifles deployed in the NE region, participated in the debate competition. The aim of this debate was to sensitise the importance of strict adherence to human rights while dealing with the public.

28 speakers participated in the debat on the topic of “Observance of Human Rights is an essential element in war against terrorism and insurgency”, with enthusiasm. The debates was conducted in both Hindi and English languages, with 14 speakers each ‘FOR’ and ‘AGAINST’ the motion.

The panel of 5 judges headed by Professor Rupankar Bhuiyan, Registrar, ICFAI University, Dimapur with 4 faculty members of Nagaland University, namely Dr. Mary N. Odyuo, Associate Professor, Dr. Debika Nongmaithem, Assistant Professor, Dr. Pankaj Shah, Associate Professor and Dr. Waluniba Ajem, Assistant Professor, after listening to the participants decided the team of Assam Rifles as the Winner in English category and CISF secured 2nd position. In the Hindi category Assam Rifles team secured 1st position and CRPF secured 2nd position. The winners received cash awards alongwith medals and certificates.

The winner and runner’s up have been selected to represent the North-East Zone in the Semi Finals of Inter CAPF debate competition.

The event was chaired by Brig Suresh Kumar Sheoran, YSM, SM, Commandant, Assam Rifles Training Centre and School. He appreciated the efforts put in by the participants and expressed gratitude and appreciation to the eminent judges for their valuable inputs and contribution.
