IWC Bikaner Leads Two Transformative Social Missions: Women’s Health Awareness and Rural Adult Literacy Drive

In a powerful demonstration of grassroots leadership and inclusive community development, the Inner Wheel Club (IWC) Bikaner executed two impactful projects under its broader vision of “Reach Out for a Better World.” Both initiatives, led with the inspiring guidance of District Chairman Bindu Gupta, highlighted the club’s commitment to uplifting women, empowering rural families, and enabling long-term social transformation.
The first project, undertaken as part of the International Mission – Orange The World, centred on advancing the Status of Women through focused awareness campaigns. At an Aanganwadi Centre dedicated to women and children, IWC Bikaner hosted a comprehensive educational session on Health and Hygiene, Menstrual Health, and Menopause. The session was delivered by renowned gynaecologist Dr. Savita Singhal, who addressed critical gaps in menstrual health awareness that continue to affect rural women.
Dr. Singhal spoke in detail about the significance of proper menstrual hygiene, the need for safe disposal of sanitary napkins, and the dangers associated with reusing cloth during menstruation—a practice still followed in many rural regions. She highlighted the myths and misconceptions that often prevent women from adopting cleaner, healthier options. The session concluded with the distribution of sanitary napkins wrapped in symbolic orange covers, reinforcing the global call to end violence, discrimination, and stigma associated with women’s health issues.
Parallel to this women-centric initiative, IWC Bikaner launched yet another socially transformative project under the category Adult Education, focusing on rural literacy and empowerment. The programme was organised at the Aanganwadi Centre in Husangsar village, where the club conducted a structured three-month literacy drive for adult villagers—both men and women.
The campaign aimed to make individuals “Sakshar”—capable of reading and writing basic text. IWC Bikaner distributed notebooks and writing materials including pencils, erasers, and sharpeners. The villagers, many learning to read and write for the first time in their lives, proudly wrote their names in the notebooks as a symbolic declaration of their commitment to education.
District Chairman Bindu Gupta, herself a dedicated educator, addressed the gathering and spoke about the life-changing impact of literacy. She emphasised that education empowers families, strengthens communities, and opens doors to new opportunities, especially for rural women who often remain outside formal learning structures.
By combining women’s health awareness with rural education, IWC Bikaner has demonstrated a holistic model of community development—one that uplifts, informs, and inspires. These dual initiatives not only address immediate social challenges but also build pathways for long-term empowerment across generations.

इनर व्हील क्लब (IWC) बीकानेर ने “रीच आउट फॉर अ बेटर वर्ल्ड” के विज़न के तहत दो प्रभावी और प्रेरणादायक सामाजिक अभियानों को अंजाम देकर सामुदायिक विकास का सशक्त संदेश दिया है। डिस्ट्रिक्ट चेयरमैन बिंदु गुप्ता के नेतृत्व और दूरदर्शी मार्गदर्शन में चले ये दोनों प्रोजेक्ट महिलाओं के सशक्तिकरण, ग्रामीण परिवारों में जागरूकता, और दीर्घकालिक सामाजिक परिवर्तन को बढ़ावा देते हैं।
पहला अभियान इंटरनेशनल मिशन – ऑरेंज द वर्ल्ड के अंतर्गत महिलाओं की स्थिति और स्वास्थ्य को केंद्र में रखकर आयोजित किया गया। महिलाओं और बच्चों के लिए संचालित एक आंगनबाड़ी केंद्र में IWC बीकानेर ने स्वास्थ्य एवं स्वच्छता, मासिक धर्म स्वच्छता, और मेनोपॉज़ पर एक विस्तृत जागरूकता सत्र आयोजित किया। यह सत्र प्रसिद्ध स्त्री रोग विशेषज्ञ डॉ. सविता सिंगल द्वारा लिया गया।
डॉ. सिंगल ने ग्रामीण महिलाओं में प्रचलित मासिक धर्म संबंधी मिथकों, गलत धारणाओं और अस्वच्छ तरीकों के खतरों पर विस्तार से चर्चा की। उन्होंने समझाया कि पुराने कपड़े उपयोग करना और बार-बार धोकर उपयोग करना स्वास्थ्य के लिए गंभीर जोखिम पैदा करता है। उन्होंने महिलाओं और किशोरियों को सैनिटरी नैपकिन के सही उपयोग, स्वच्छता और सुरक्षित निपटान के बारे में जागरूक किया। सत्र के बाद महिलाओं को नारंगी रंग के पैक में सैनिटरी नैपकिन वितरित किए गए, जो महिलाओं के स्वास्थ्य से जुड़े भेदभाव और मौन हिंसा को खत्म करने के वैश्विक अभियान का प्रतीक था।
इसी कड़ी में, IWC बीकानेर ने दूसरा बड़ा और प्रभावशाली अभियान वयस्क शिक्षा के अंतर्गत चलाया। यह कार्यक्रम हुसंगसर गांव के आंगनबाड़ी केंद्र में आयोजित किया गया, जहां क्लब ने ग्रामीण महिलाओं और पुरुषों के लिए तीन महीने का साक्षरता अभियान चलाया।
इस अभियान का उद्देश्य ग्रामीणों को “साक्षर” बनाना था—ताकि वे पढ़ना और लिखना सीख सकें। क्लब ने सभी प्रतिभागियों को नोटबुक, पेंसिल, रबर, शार्पनर आदि वितरित किए। कई ग्रामीणों ने अपने जीवन में पहली बार अपनी नोटबुक पर अपना नाम लिखकर शिक्षा ग्रहण करने की दृढ़ इच्छा को व्यक्त किया।
शिक्षिका होने के नाते, डिस्ट्रिक्ट चेयरमैन बिंदु गुप्ता ने भी ग्रामीणों को संबोधित किया और शिक्षा के महत्व पर अपने विचार साझा किए। उन्होंने कहा कि साक्षरता न केवल व्यक्ति को सशक्त बनाती है बल्कि पूरे परिवार और समुदाय को नई दिशा देती है। विशेष रूप से ग्रामीण महिलाओं के लिए शिक्षा आत्मनिर्भरता और आत्मविश्वास का आधार बनती है।
महिला स्वास्थ्य जागरूकता और ग्रामीण वयस्क शिक्षा—इन दोनों अभियानों ने यह साबित किया कि IWC बीकानेर का दृष्टिकोण समग्र सामाजिक विकास का मॉडल है। यह न केवल वर्तमान चुनौतियों का समाधान प्रदान करता है, बल्कि आने वाली पीढ़ियों के लिए बेहतर भविष्य की नींव भी रखता है।
