लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल शमशेर सिंह विर्क ने 21 मई 2025 को चेतक कोर की कमान संभाली थी और 31 अगस्त 2026 तक उन्होंने इस महत्वपूर्ण सैन्य फॉर्मेशन का नेतृत्व किया। उनके कार्यकाल के दौरान ऑपरेशनल रेडीनेस को मजबूत करने, जॉइंटनेस को बढ़ावा देने और मिलिट्री-सिविल सिनर्जी को बेहतर बनाने पर विशेष ध्यान दिया गया।
