Major General Varun Malhotra Assumes Command of Headquarters Uttar Maharashtra & Gujarat Sub Area, Calls for Highest Standards of Operational Preparedness

New Delhi, July 10, 2026: Major General Varun Malhotra formally assumed command of the Headquarters Uttar Maharashtra & Gujarat Sub Area on 10 July 2026, taking charge of one of the Indian Army’s key administrative and operational formations responsible for supporting military establishments across Uttar Maharashtra and Gujarat.
An officer of the prestigious Corps of Engineers (The Bombay Sappers), Major General Malhotra brings with him more than three decades of distinguished military service, marked by extensive experience in command, instructional and staff appointments across diverse operational environments. Throughout his career, he has served in several important leadership roles, contributing significantly to military engineering, operational planning, force management and institutional development within the Indian Army.
Soon after assuming command, the General Officer interacted with officers, Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs), Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) and personnel of the Headquarters. During the interaction, he congratulated all ranks for their dedication, discipline and professionalism, acknowledging their commitment towards maintaining the high standards of the Indian Army.
Addressing the troops, Major General Malhotra emphasized the importance of sustaining the highest levels of operational preparedness, ensuring mission readiness at all times, and maintaining constant vigilance against emerging and evolving security challenges. He underlined that the rapidly changing security environment demands continuous training, technological adaptation and unwavering professionalism from every soldier.
He also stressed the significance of teamwork, discipline, innovation and efficient administration in enhancing the operational effectiveness of the formation. The General Officer encouraged all personnel to remain committed to the Army’s core values while striving for excellence in every sphere of military service.
The Headquarters Uttar Maharashtra & Gujarat Sub Area plays a vital role in coordinating administrative support, logistics, infrastructure management, welfare of serving personnel, veterans and military families, while ensuring operational support to formations deployed across the region.
The appointment of Major General Varun Malhotra marks the beginning of a new chapter for the formation, with expectations of further strengthening operational efficiency, organizational excellence and readiness to meet future security challenges.

नई दिल्ली, 10 जुलाई 2026: भारतीय सेना के वरिष्ठ अधिकारी मेजर जनरल वरुण मल्होत्रा ने 10 जुलाई 2026 को मुख्यालय उत्तर महाराष्ट्र एवं गुजरात सब एरिया की कमान संभाल ली। यह गठन उत्तर महाराष्ट्र और गुजरात क्षेत्र में भारतीय सेना के प्रशासनिक, लॉजिस्टिक और विभिन्न सैन्य प्रतिष्ठानों के समन्वय की महत्वपूर्ण जिम्मेदारी निभाता है।
कोर ऑफ इंजीनियर्स (द बॉम्बे सैपर्स) के अधिकारी मेजर जनरल वरुण मल्होत्रा अपने साथ तीन दशकों से अधिक का समृद्ध सैन्य अनुभव लेकर आए हैं। अपने लंबे और गौरवशाली सैन्य करियर के दौरान उन्होंने कमांड, स्टाफ तथा प्रशिक्षण से जुड़े अनेक महत्वपूर्ण दायित्वों का सफलतापूर्वक निर्वहन किया है। उनकी सेवाएं सैन्य इंजीनियरिंग, ऑपरेशनल प्लानिंग, सैन्य प्रशासन, नेतृत्व क्षमता और संगठनात्मक विकास के क्षेत्रों में विशेष रूप से उल्लेखनीय रही हैं।
कमान संभालने के बाद मेजर जनरल मल्होत्रा ने मुख्यालय के अधिकारियों, जूनियर कमीशंड अधिकारियों (JCO), अन्य सैन्य अधिकारियों एवं सभी रैंकों के सैनिकों से मुलाकात की। उन्होंने सभी अधिकारियों और जवानों की अनुशासन, समर्पण, कर्तव्यनिष्ठा तथा पेशेवर उत्कृष्टता की सराहना करते हुए उन्हें भारतीय सेना की गौरवशाली परंपराओं को आगे बढ़ाने के लिए प्रेरित किया।
अपने संबोधन में उन्होंने कहा कि वर्तमान वैश्विक और क्षेत्रीय सुरक्षा परिदृश्य लगातार बदल रहा है, ऐसे में प्रत्येक सैनिक को उच्चतम स्तर की ऑपरेशनल तैयारियों, सतर्कता और पेशेवर दक्षता बनाए रखना अत्यंत आवश्यक है। उन्होंने सभी सैन्य कर्मियों से भविष्य की उभरती सुरक्षा चुनौतियों का मुकाबला करने के लिए निरंतर प्रशिक्षण, आधुनिक तकनीकों को अपनाने तथा हर परिस्थिति में मिशन के लिए तैयार रहने का आह्वान किया।
मेजर जनरल मल्होत्रा ने टीमवर्क, अनुशासन, नेतृत्व क्षमता, प्रशासनिक दक्षता तथा नवाचार को किसी भी सैन्य गठन की सफलता का आधार बताते हुए कहा कि भारतीय सेना की ताकत उसके प्रशिक्षित, समर्पित और अनुशासित सैनिक हैं। उन्होंने सभी रैंकों से राष्ट्र सेवा की भावना के साथ उत्कृष्ट प्रदर्शन जारी रखने का आह्वान किया।
मुख्यालय उत्तर महाराष्ट्र एवं गुजरात सब एरिया क्षेत्र में सेना की प्रशासनिक व्यवस्था, लॉजिस्टिक सहायता, सैन्य अवसंरचना, पूर्व सैनिकों एवं सैन्य परिवारों के कल्याण तथा विभिन्न सैन्य इकाइयों को आवश्यक समर्थन प्रदान करने में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाता है। मेजर जनरल वरुण मल्होत्रा के नेतृत्व में इस गठन से परिचालन क्षमता, प्रशासनिक दक्षता और भविष्य की सुरक्षा चुनौतियों के प्रति तत्परता को और अधिक सुदृढ़ करने की अपेक्षा की जा रही है।
