Tension Grips Senapati After Security Operation
A serious law and order situation unfolded in Senapati district of Manipur on the night of July 14–15, 2026, when a violent mob attacked an Assam Rifles camp following a security operation launched on the basis of credible intelligence regarding the movement of armed cadres near Makuilongdi village. The incident, which involved stone pelting, arson, vandalism and attacks on military property, marked one of the most significant confrontations between civilians and security forces in the region in recent months. Despite intense provocation and damage to government property, security forces maintained restraint and ultimately restored peace without any civilian or military casualties. According to official information, Assam Rifles launched an area domination patrol and search operation after receiving credible intelligence indicating the movement of armed cadres in the general area of Makuilongdi, situated nearly two kilometres west of the designated NSCN (IM) camp at Oklong. Ceasefire Monitoring Group Formally Informed
Recognising the sensitivity of the situation, Assam Rifles simultaneously informed the Ceasefire Monitoring Group (CFMG) regarding the reported violations. The communication highlighted the security concerns arising from alleged movement of armed cadres beyond authorised locations and sought to ensure that the matter remained within the established ceasefire monitoring mechanism. Officials emphasised that informing the CFMG demonstrated the security forces’ commitment to transparency and adherence to the agreed ceasefire procedures rather than taking unilateral action.
Residents Obstruct Security Columns During Search
As security columns advanced towards Makuilongdi and Oklong villages, they encountered resistance from local residents, including a significant number of women who physically blocked the movement of troops. Instead of using force, Assam Rifles personnel engaged with local representatives and explained the objective of the operation. Security officials assured community leaders that the operation was intended solely to ensure security and maintain peace in the region. They further conveyed that the columns would not enter any village without obtaining the consent of the competent authorities. Crowd Mobilises Towards Assam Rifles Camp

Intelligence suggested that the gathering intended to march towards the Assam Rifles camp. Within approximately thirty minutes, hundreds of people reportedly reached the military establishment and began pelting stones, damaging infrastructure and attempting acts of arson. The violence rapidly escalated into an attack on government property, creating a volatile security situation that required immediate response from security agencies.

Despite facing a violent assault, Assam Rifles personnel refrained from excessive use of force. Following established operating procedures and in coordination with Manipur Police, only the minimum force considered necessary was employed to disperse the crowd. खुफिया सूचना के बाद शुरू हुआ सुरक्षा अभियान
मणिपुर के सेनापति जिले में 14-15 जुलाई 2026 की रात एक बड़ा सुरक्षा घटनाक्रम सामने आया, जब विश्वसनीय खुफिया सूचनाओं के आधार पर असम राइफल्स ने माकुइलोंगडी क्षेत्र में एरिया डोमिनेशन पेट्रोल और सर्च ऑपरेशन शुरू किया। खुफिया एजेंसियों को जानकारी मिली थी कि ओकलोंग स्थित नामित NSCN (IM) कैंप से लगभग दो किलोमीटर दूर हथियारबंद कैडर हथियारों और वर्दी के साथ सक्रिय रूप से घूम रहे हैं। सोशल मीडिया पर भी ऐसे वीडियो और सूचनाएं सामने आई थीं, जिनसे संकेत मिला कि कुछ कैडर निर्धारित सीज़फायर नियमों का उल्लंघन करते हुए कैंप से बाहर गतिविधियां चला रहे हैं। इसी आधार पर सुरक्षा एजेंसियों ने कानून व्यवस्था बनाए रखने और सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित करने के उद्देश्य से यह अभियान शुरू किया।
सीज़फायर मॉनिटरिंग ग्रुप को भी दी गई तत्काल जानकारी
असम राइफल्स ने अभियान शुरू करने के साथ ही सीज़फायर मॉनिटरिंग ग्रुप (CFMG) को भी कथित उल्लंघनों की औपचारिक जानकारी दी। सुरक्षा एजेंसियों ने बताया कि संभावित उल्लंघनों को स्थापित निगरानी व्यवस्था के तहत लाना आवश्यक था ताकि पूरे घटनाक्रम की पारदर्शी निगरानी हो सके। इससे स्पष्ट होता है कि सुरक्षा बलों ने किसी भी कार्रवाई से पहले निर्धारित प्रक्रिया का पालन किया और सभी संबंधित एजेंसियों को विश्वास में लिया।

रात होते ही सेनापति में बढ़ा तनाव
हालांकि सुरक्षा बलों ने तनाव कम करने के उद्देश्य से अपनी टुकड़ियों को वापस बुला लिया, लेकिन रात करीब नौ बजे सूचना मिली कि सेनापति कस्बे में बड़ी संख्या में लोग एकत्रित होकर असम राइफल्स कैंप की ओर बढ़ रहे हैं। कुछ ही समय में बड़ी भीड़ कैंप तक पहुंच गई और वहां पथराव शुरू कर दिया। इसके बाद सरकारी संपत्ति को नुकसान पहुंचाया गया तथा आग लगाने का भी प्रयास किया गया। देखते ही देखते स्थिति बेहद तनावपूर्ण हो गई और पूरे इलाके में अफरा-तफरी का माहौल बन गया।
असम राइफल्स ने दिखाया संयम
कैंप पर हिंसक हमला होने के बावजूद असम राइफल्स ने अत्यधिक संयम का परिचय दिया। सुरक्षा बलों ने न्यूनतम आवश्यक बल का उपयोग करते हुए मणिपुर पुलिस के साथ मिलकर भीड़ को नियंत्रित करने का प्रयास किया। भीड़ को तितर-बितर करने के लिए केवल ब्लैंक राउंड फायर किए गए और आंसू गैस के गोले छोड़े गए। अधिकारियों का कहना है कि पूरी कार्रवाई का उद्देश्य किसी भी नागरिक को नुकसान पहुंचाए बिना कैंप, सुरक्षा कर्मियों और सरकारी संपत्ति की रक्षा करना था।
मणिपुर पुलिस और CRPF ने संभाला मोर्चा
स्थिति बिगड़ते ही सेनापति पुलिस और केंद्रीय रिजर्व पुलिस बल (CRPF) की अतिरिक्त टुकड़ियों को तत्काल मौके पर भेजा गया। तीनों सुरक्षा बलों ने संयुक्त रूप से मोर्चा संभाला और योजनाबद्ध तरीके से हिंसक भीड़ को नियंत्रित किया। समन्वित कार्रवाई के कारण हालात धीरे-धीरे सामान्य होने लगे और किसी भी बड़े जान-माल के नुकसान को रोका जा सका।
सुरक्षा बलों के वाहनों को बनाया गया निशाना
भीड़ के पीछे हटने के दौरान भी कुछ उपद्रवियों ने हिंसा जारी रखी। असम राइफल्स का एक हल्का वाहन आग के हवाले कर दिया गया, जबकि दो सैन्य ट्रकों को पलटकर बुरी तरह क्षतिग्रस्त कर दिया गया। इसके अलावा एक नागरिक वाहन को भी आग लगा दी गई। सरकारी संपत्ति को हुए इस बड़े नुकसान की जांच शुरू कर दी गई है और उपद्रवियों की पहचान के लिए उपलब्ध वीडियो, फोटो और अन्य साक्ष्यों का विश्लेषण किया जा रहा है।
आधी रात तक पूरी तरह सामान्य हुए हालात
असम राइफल्स, मणिपुर पुलिस और CRPF के संयुक्त प्रयासों से आधी रात तक पूरी स्थिति पर नियंत्रण पा लिया गया। हिंसक भीड़ पूरी तरह तितर-बितर हो गई और संवेदनशील क्षेत्रों में अतिरिक्त सुरक्षा व्यवस्था तैनात कर दी गई। अधिकारियों ने पुष्टि की कि वर्तमान में सेनापति की स्थिति पूरी तरह शांतिपूर्ण और नियंत्रण में है तथा लगातार निगरानी रखी जा रही है।
सबसे राहत की बात—कोई हताहत नहीं
इतनी गंभीर हिंसा, पथराव, आगजनी और तोड़फोड़ के बावजूद इस पूरे घटनाक्रम में न तो किसी नागरिक की जान गई और न ही किसी सुरक्षा बल के जवान को चोट पहुंची। सुरक्षा एजेंसियों ने इसका श्रेय सुरक्षा बलों के अनुशासित व्यवहार, संयमित कार्रवाई और न्यूनतम बल प्रयोग की नीति को दिया है। यदि समय रहते स्थिति नियंत्रित नहीं होती तो यह घटना कहीं अधिक गंभीर रूप ले सकती थी।
सामाजिक संगठनों और प्रशासन ने शुरू किया संवाद
