NCC Cadets Hone Their Rifle Shooting Skills at CRPF Range Mokokchung
An NCC Shooting practice week is underway at CRPF Range in Mokokchung. 60 NCC cadets from schools and colleges in Mokokchung town were given the opportunity today to practice their rifle shooting skills with the 0.22” Sporting Rifles.
The event is being organized as part of the ‘Weapons Training’ curriculum in which theory and dry practices are taught in the Institutions under the guidance of the Associate NCC Officers (ANOs) and the Permanent Instructor Staff (PI Staff) of 25 Naga Bn NCC. The actual shooting with live ammunition (practicals) is periodically organized in the Shooting Range with experts guiding the cadets about the nuances of shooting. Both boys and girls have showed immense interest in learning the unique skill.
Speaking on the training being provided to the NCC cadets, Col CST Swamy, Commanding Officer of 25 Naga Bn NCC said that, all round development by way of instilling discipline, co-habitation in camps, physical fitness, public speaking skills and cultural activities are being imparted to the cadets to make them successful and patriotic citizens of the country. Apart from this, NCC grooms the cadets to successfully crack the entrance exams and interviews of uniformed services, especially in the Army as Officers and Agniveers. Both the Central Government and the Nagaland State Government services award extra weightage to NCC cadets in their entrance exams. Hence NCC training is a stepping stone for students who aspire to take up well paid jobs in the Govt as well as civilian sector.
