IAF Launches Operational Phase at Jodhpur as Seven Foreign Air Forces Join India for Multilateral Air Combat Training
JODHPUR, RAJASTHAN — The skies over Rajasthan have once again become the centre of an unprecedented display of international airpower and military cooperation as the Indian Air Force has commenced the operational phase of Exercise Tarang Shakti 2026 at Air Force Station Jodhpur. The second edition of the Indian Air Force’s multilateral air exercise is being conducted from 26 September to 12 October 2026 under the theme “Power in Partnership”, bringing together the air forces of India and seven participating Friendly Foreign Countries for advanced joint training, professional interaction and enhanced interoperability.
JODHPUR BECOMES THE STAGE FOR A MAJOR MULTILATERAL AIR EXERCISE
The commencement of the operational phase follows the inaugural ceremony and marks the transition of Tarang Shakti 2026 from formal engagement to active flying and operational interaction. Air Force Station Jodhpur is serving as a key hub for the exercise, with participating contingents operating alongside the Indian Air Force across a range of missions designed to expose personnel to complex multinational operating environments. The exercise brings together combat aviation, strategic and tactical airlift, aerial refuelling and supporting capabilities, creating an environment in which aircrew, mission planners and operational support personnel can work together and understand different approaches to air operations.
SEVEN FOREIGN AIR FORCES JOIN INDIA
The exercise has brought together participating contingents from Australia, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, France, Germany, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Their presence gives Tarang Shakti 2026 a distinctly multinational character, with different air forces bringing their own aircraft, operational experience, mission philosophies and support systems to the exercise. Several other foreign countries are also participating as observers, expanding the professional and diplomatic dimension of the event beyond the aircraft directly committed to the flying phase.
F-35 LIGHTNING II, RAFALE AND F-16 BRING DIVERSE AIRPOWER TOGETHER
One of the most closely watched aspects of Tarang Shakti 2026 is the presence of advanced foreign combat and support aircraft. The participating foreign aircraft include the US F-35 Lightning II, French Rafale, F-16, A400M, MRTT, C-130, C-130J and KC-30A, representing a broad spectrum of modern airpower capabilities. The combination of fifth-generation combat aviation, fourth-generation fighters, tactical and strategic airlift and aerial refuelling assets creates opportunities for participants to understand how different platforms and support elements can operate within a common multinational framework. The six US F-35 Lightning II fighters participating in the exercise are making their first appearance in an Indian military exercise, adding significant interest to this edition of Tarang Shakti.

Tarang Shakti 2026 has been designed with a wider professional and cultural canvas. जोधपुर, राजस्थान: राजस्थान के आसमान में एक बार फिर अंतरराष्ट्रीय हवाई शक्ति और सैन्य सहयोग का बड़ा प्रदर्शन देखने को मिल रहा है। भारतीय वायुसेना ने एयर फोर्स स्टेशन जोधपुर में बहुराष्ट्रीय हवाई अभ्यास एक्सरसाइज तरंग शक्ति 2026 का ऑपरेशनल फेज शुरू कर दिया है। 26 सितंबर से 12 अक्टूबर 2026 तक आयोजित किए जा रहे इस अभ्यास की थीम “Power in Partnership” रखी गई है, जिसका फोकस साझेदारी, आपसी सहयोग, ऑपरेशनल अनुभव के आदान-प्रदान और विभिन्न वायुसेनाओं के बीच इंटरऑपरेबिलिटी को मजबूत करने पर है।
जोधपुर बना बहुराष्ट्रीय एयर ऑपरेशंस का प्रमुख केंद्र
