सीबीआई निदेशक प्रवीण सूद को मिला एक और वर्ष का सेवा विस्तार: प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी की अध्यक्षता वाली चयन समिति ने देश की सर्वोच्च जांच एजेंसी की कमान पर फिर जताया भरोसा
मई 2027 तक केंद्रीय अन्वेषण ब्यूरो की कमान संभालेंगे प्रवीण सूद, NEET पेपर लीक, आरजी कर मेडिकल कॉलेज हत्याकांड, पश्चिम बंगाल के भ्रष्टाचार मामलों और कई राष्ट्रीय महत्व की जांचों में बनी रहेगी निरंतरता
देश की सबसे प्रतिष्ठित और शक्तिशाली जांच एजेंसी केंद्रीय अन्वेषण ब्यूरो (सीबीआई) की कमान एक बार फिर वरिष्ठ आईपीएस अधिकारी प्रवीण सूद के हाथों में ही रहेगी। केंद्र सरकार ने प्रवीण सूद के कार्यकाल को एक और वर्ष के लिए बढ़ाने का निर्णय लिया है। इस फैसले के साथ यह स्पष्ट हो गया है कि प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी के नेतृत्व वाली केंद्र सरकार और उच्चस्तरीय चयन समिति ने देश की सबसे महत्वपूर्ण जांच एजेंसी के मौजूदा नेतृत्व पर अपना भरोसा बरकरार रखा है। यह विस्तार ऐसे समय में दिया गया है जब सीबीआई देश के कई अत्यंत संवेदनशील, राजनीतिक रूप से महत्वपूर्ण और जनभावनाओं से जुड़े मामलों की जांच कर रही है।
प्रवीण सूद अब मई 2027 तक सीबीआई निदेशक के रूप में कार्यरत रहेंगे। उनका यह दूसरा सेवा विस्तार है। इससे पहले मई 2023 में उन्हें दो वर्ष के लिए सीबीआई निदेशक नियुक्त किया गया था। उसके बाद उन्हें एक वर्ष का विस्तार मिला और अब एक और वर्ष की अवधि बढ़ा दी गई है। इस प्रकार वे लगातार चौथे वर्ष भी देश की शीर्ष जांच एजेंसी का नेतृत्व करेंगे।
यह निर्णय केवल प्रशासनिक प्रक्रिया नहीं है, बल्कि यह इस बात का संकेत है कि सरकार मौजूदा समय में एजेंसी के नेतृत्व में किसी प्रकार का बदलाव नहीं चाहती। खासकर तब, जब देश के सामने शिक्षा घोटालों, महिला सुरक्षा, बड़े वित्तीय अपराधों और राजनीतिक भ्रष्टाचार से जुड़े अनेक मामले जांच के अंतिम और निर्णायक चरण में हैं।
प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी की अध्यक्षता वाली उच्चस्तरीय चयन समिति ने लिया फैसला
सूत्रों के अनुसार सीबीआई निदेशक के चयन के लिए गठित उच्चस्तरीय समिति की बैठक में यह फैसला लिया गया। इस समिति की अध्यक्षता प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी करते हैं। समिति में भारत के मुख्य न्यायाधीश या उनके नामित न्यायाधीश तथा लोकसभा में नेता प्रतिपक्ष भी शामिल होते हैं।
इस बार हुई बैठक में प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी के साथ भारत के मुख्य न्यायाधीश न्यायमूर्ति सूर्यकांत तथा लोकसभा में नेता प्रतिपक्ष राहुल गांधी मौजूद रहे। समिति ने नए निदेशक की नियुक्ति पर विचार किया, लेकिन वर्तमान परिस्थितियों और लंबित महत्वपूर्ण मामलों को देखते हुए प्रवीण सूद को ही एक और वर्ष तक पद पर बनाए रखने का निर्णय लिया।
यह तथ्य भी उल्लेखनीय है कि समिति के समक्ष अन्य वरिष्ठ और प्रतिष्ठित आईपीएस अधिकारियों के नाम भी विचाराधीन थे। इनमें असम-मेघालय कैडर के वरिष्ठ अधिकारी और वर्तमान में केंद्रीय रिजर्व पुलिस बल (सीआरपीएफ) के महानिदेशक जी.पी. सिंह तथा भारत-तिब्बत सीमा पुलिस (आईटीबीपी) के महानिदेशक शत्रुजीत सिंह कपूर प्रमुख दावेदारों में शामिल थे। इसके बावजूद समिति ने अनुभव और निरंतरता को प्राथमिकता दी।

कर्नाटक के डीजीपी से सीबीआई निदेशक तक का सफर
सीबीआई निदेशक बनने से पहले प्रवीण सूद कर्नाटक के पुलिस महानिदेशक एवं महानिरीक्षक (डीजी एंड आईजीपी) के पद पर कार्यरत थे। यह राज्य पुलिस व्यवस्था का सर्वोच्च पद होता है।
इस भूमिका में उन्होंने कानून-व्यवस्था, संगठित अपराध नियंत्रण, चुनावी सुरक्षा, वीआईपी सुरक्षा और संवेदनशील मामलों की निगरानी की जिम्मेदारी निभाई। उनकी कार्यशैली को पेशेवर, संतुलित और परिणामोन्मुख माना जाता है।
कर्नाटक पुलिस में उनका कार्यकाल उन्हें राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर पहचान दिलाने में महत्वपूर्ण साबित हुआ और अंततः मई 2023 में उन्हें सीबीआई की कमान सौंपी गई।
मई 2023 में हुई थी नियुक्ति
25 मई 2023 को प्रवीण सूद ने सीबीआई निदेशक के रूप में पदभार ग्रहण किया। उनका प्रारंभिक कार्यकाल दो वर्षों का था।
उस समय उनकी नियुक्ति को महत्वपूर्ण माना गया क्योंकि एजेंसी कई बड़े मामलों की जांच कर रही थी और एक ऐसे अधिकारी की आवश्यकता थी जो प्रशासनिक अनुभव के साथ-साथ संवेदनशील मामलों को संभालने की क्षमता रखता हो।
प्रवीण सूद ने पद संभालने के बाद एजेंसी की जांच प्रणाली को और मजबूत करने, तकनीकी क्षमताओं को बढ़ाने और लंबित मामलों की गति तेज करने पर ध्यान केंद्रित किया।
सीबीआई निदेशक की भूमिका और जिम्मेदारियां

NEET पेपर लीक जांच: करोड़ों छात्रों की उम्मीदों से जुड़ा मामला
प्रवीण सूद के विस्तारित कार्यकाल के दौरान सबसे महत्वपूर्ण मामलों में से एक NEET परीक्षा पेपर लीक मामला है।
यह मामला देश के लाखों छात्रों और उनके परिवारों की भावनाओं से जुड़ा हुआ है। मेडिकल प्रवेश परीक्षा की विश्वसनीयता पर उठे सवालों ने पूरे देश को झकझोर दिया था।
सीबीआई की जांच कई राज्यों में फैली हुई है और इसमें कथित दलालों, परीक्षा माफिया, कोचिंग नेटवर्क और संगठित अपराध से जुड़े तत्वों की भूमिका की जांच की जा रही है।

आरजी कर मेडिकल कॉलेज मामला
पश्चिम बंगाल के आरजी कर मेडिकल कॉलेज में हुई बलात्कार और हत्या की घटना ने पूरे देश को आक्रोशित कर दिया था।
सीबीआई को इस मामले की जांच सौंपी गई और एजेंसी ने तेजी से कार्रवाई करते हुए आरोपपत्र दाखिल किया।
यह मामला केवल एक आपराधिक जांच नहीं, बल्कि न्याय प्रणाली में जनता के विश्वास से जुड़ा हुआ है। प्रवीण सूद के नेतृत्व में इस जांच की प्रगति पर पूरे देश की नजर है।
पश्चिम बंगाल के भ्रष्टाचार मामले
