Punjabi Literary Magazine Lafznama Launched Amid Myriad Celebrations of Punjab’s Culture and Heritage
Chandigarh. To celebrate the culture and language of Punjab – the land of five rivers – Rhyvers Publishing launched its Punjabi literary magazine ‘Lafznama’ in collaboration with Chandigarh Literary Society – CLS at Punjab Kala Bhavan, Sector 16, Chandigarh.
The evening started with the lighting of the lamp ceremony and unveiling of the first edition of the magazine by Mr. Affan Yesvi, Director, Rhyvers Publishing, the chief guests Dr. Sujit Patar, Chairman Punjab Arts Council and Dr. Sumita Misra IAS, Chairperson CLS along with Ms. Babbu Tir, Member Punjab Public Service Commission, and Dr. Lakhvinder Johal, President Punjab Sahit Academy.
Ms Ravee Pandher, Executive Editor of the magazine held a panel discussion, ‘Redefining the landscape’, on Punjab’s art, culture, literature and cinema in the digital era with eminent panelists Ms Opinder Kaur Sekhon, Ms Balpreet Kaur and Mr Subhash Bhaskar. The poetry recitation by Nisha Luthra, Gurtej Safar, and Lily Swarn enthralled the audience.
The highlight of the evening was Music E Mystic, a sufi punjabi folk band performance by Aman, Manmeet, Rajneesh and Surender. Their rich tapestry of the celebration of Punjab’s folk music was an absolute joy for the audience.
The bhand performance was an added attraction of the function, and was greatly enjoyed by the audience.
In her address Dr Sumita Misra said that Lafznama is a great initiative for promoting Punjabi literature, language, art and culture.
Dr Sujit Patar congratulated Mr Yesvi for launching the Punjabi literary magazine. He said that languages are dynamic entities, and Lafznama brings forth the glory and richness of Punjabi language.
Speaking on the occasion, Director, Rhyvers Publishing Mr Affan Yesvi said that the group’s Punjabi magazine celebrates Panjabiyat, the glorious culture and language of Punjab, the land of five rivers. He further added that he has received loads of love from Punjab and feels a special connection with Punjabi culture. He also added that Punjab is a land of diaspora where many Punjabis are residing in foreign countries yet connected with roots.
Mr Yesvi said that the magazine shall provide a platform to distinguished writers and poets from Punjab to celebrate and promote the glory of the language. It shall also provide a platform to budding writers and poets to showcase their talents.
Mr. Yesvi exhibited a sense of gratitude towards dignitaries who graced the occasion with their amiable presence.
All the participants were presented with mementos. The program was efficiently anchored by Ms Rajender and became a gala success with a promise of more good work in future.
