Sapt Shakti Command Engages with Veterans and Veer Naris in Churu, Pays Tribute at Veergati Smarak

The Indian Army’s Sapt Shakti Command organized a special interaction with veterans and Veer Naris in Churu on 26 March 2025, honoring the selfless service and sacrifice of soldiers and their families. This event was a meaningful gathering that included insightful discussions, a felicitation ceremony, and a deep sense of patriotism. On this occasion, Sapt Shakti Command’s Army Commander, Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh, paid homage at Veergati Smarak, a grand memorial dedicated to the nation’s bravehearts. This remarkable monument was constructed with the support of Shri Basant Ji Heerawat, Shri Abhay Ji Heerawat, and their family and is now fully completed and open to the public.

The Veergati Smarak stands as a symbol of peace, courage, and sacrifice, built to honor the memory of valiant soldiers who laid down their lives for the motherland. Every evening, the memorial is illuminated with vibrant lights, enhancing its grandeur. A granite wall engraved with the names of martyrs makes this site a center of pride and inspiration. Churu district has played a significant role in the Indian Armed Forces, with nearly 25,000 personnel having served or currently serving in the Army, Navy, and Air Force. Since World War II, 89 brave soldiers from Churu have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. The district has been honored with several prestigious gallantry awards, including one Maha Vir Chakra, one Military Cross, three Kirti Chakras, two Vir Chakras, four Shaurya Chakras, thirty Sena/Nau Sena Medals, and one Yudh Seva Medal.

During the ceremony, Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh honored war heroes and Veer Naris. In his address, he emphasized that this memorial is not just a structure but a living testament to sacrifice, bravery, and patriotism. He reaffirmed Sapt Shakti Command’s commitment to the welfare and well-being of veterans and Veer Naris, highlighting various initiatives undertaken by the Army, such as ex-servicemen rallies, Sparsh outreach programs, employment fairs, veterans’ assistance centers, patient transit facilities, and other welfare schemes designed to support former soldiers and their families.

At the event, Shri Basant Ji Heerawat and Shri Abhay Ji Heerawat were felicitated for their invaluable contribution to the construction of Veergati Smarak. Additionally, 89 Veer Naris were honored for their courage and sacrifice. Several senior military officers graced the occasion, including Lieutenant General Suresh Chandra Tandi, Director General of Ordnance Services; Lieutenant General Nagendra Singh, Core Commander of Chetak Corps; Major General AK Pundir, GOC of Ranbankura Division; and Brigadier SP Dash.

The event also saw the participation of senior district administration officials, including Abhishek Surana, IAS, District Collector of Churu, Captain (Navy) Dilip Singh, District Sainik Welfare Officer (ZSWO), Churu, along with retired senior defense officials and local representatives. The program was conducted by Captain (Navy) Dilip Singh, while Brigadier SP Dash expressed gratitude to all attendees and dignitaries.
