▪️#Afghanistan — within the Islamic Emirate, tensions escalated as Tajik commander Abdul Hamid Khorasani and his faction severed ties with the Afghan Taliban.

▪️The rift came to light as members of the Taliban’s Badri unit opted to depart from the group.

▪️Sources within the Taliban revealed that Khorasani had faced mounting pressure from the group due to his support for anti-Taliban demonstrations in Badakhshan province.

▪️His advocacy for the dissenting voices in Badakhshan drew ire from many #Taliban members, prompting calls for his retribution.

▪️In an audio recording made public, Khorasani appealed to the Taliban’s military leadership, urging them to cease the campaign against the innocent people of Badakhshan and to hold accountable those responsible for the deaths of two individuals from the region.

▪️Khorasani, a Panjshiri and Tajik descent commander, had previously aligned with the Taliban during the final days of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, participating in offensives against former government forces.

▪️Expressing disillusionment, Khorasani lamented the ethnosectarian nature of the Taliban’s system, asserting that had he been aware earlier, he would not have associated himself with the group.
