Another Spy Arrested in Jaisalmer: Military Intelligence Nabs Suspect with Pakistani Links Near Army Area
Jaisalmer/New Delhi, August 2025 – Security agencies in Rajasthan’s sensitive desert belt have once again uncovered a suspected case of espionage for Pakistan. Military Intelligence (MI) detained a man identified as Jivan Khan (aged between 25–30), on charges of spying for Pakistan, after he was allegedly found in communication with multiple Pakistani numbers while attempting to gain access near a military area on the Jaisalmer–Jodhpur road.
This marks the fourth case of suspected espionage in Jaisalmer district in recent months, exposing how Pakistan’s intelligence network has been actively attempting to infiltrate vulnerable civilian employees around military installations in western Rajasthan.
The Arrest Operation
According to sources, Khan was intercepted by MI operatives near the entrance to an army station on Tuesday, August 19. He had earlier worked in a restaurant located within the Jaisalmer Army area two to three years ago and had recently returned seeking employment in the same vicinity.
During questioning at the gate, Khan was found speaking on his phone with a Pakistani number. A search of his mobile device revealed several Pakistani contacts saved, raising immediate suspicion.
MI handed him over to the Joint Interrogation Centre (JIC), where agencies including IB, ATS Rajasthan, and other counter-intelligence units will jointly probe his links.
A Pattern of Espionage Attempts in Jaisalmer
This arrest comes barely two weeks after the detention of a manager at the DRDO guest house in Jaisalmer, who was caught passing sensitive details to Pakistani handlers. In recent years, Jaisalmer has emerged as a hotspot of espionage attempts, owing to its proximity to the India–Pakistan border, presence of key army formations, and sensitive installations like missile testing ranges and forward air bases.
Investigators believe Pakistani intelligence agencies have been systematically targeting low-income civilians employed in canteens, guest houses, and restaurants inside or near defence zones, luring them with money or blackmail to extract critical operational information.
Military Intelligence Vigilance
Officials revealed that Khan had been on the radar of agencies for several weeks due to suspicious communication patterns. His activities, movements, and calls were being monitored, and his arrest was carried out only after concrete evidence emerged of active contact with Pakistani handlers.
“Such individuals often start with harmless conversations, but over time they are exploited to pass details about troop movements, equipment positioning, and security routines. Even a small leak can endanger operational security,” said a retired Army intelligence officer familiar with counter-espionage cases in Rajasthan.
Strategic Implications
The fact that four arrests linked to espionage have occurred in Jaisalmer alone this year highlights the heightened risk of insider threats in military zones. Analysts argue that with Operation Sindoor and ongoing military mobilisations, Pakistan is desperately seeking intelligence inputs through unconventional means, since its conventional surveillance systems have been disrupted or neutralised by Indian countermeasures.
The arrests also show the effectiveness of India’s multi-agency vigilance mechanism, which has been tightened post-2024 incidents when sensitive documents were leaked by civilian employees in border states.
Looking Ahead
As interrogation proceeds, agencies will attempt to uncover whether Khan was working as part of a larger spy network linked to Pakistan’s ISI or if he was an isolated recruit. Authorities have not ruled out connections to earlier espionage cases in Barmer and Bikaner districts, where locals were caught passing information under the guise of employment near army areas.
For now, Khan remains in custody, and his case serves as yet another reminder that Pakistan continues to rely on espionage in Rajasthan’s desert belt, but India’s counter-intelligence is equally determined to foil such attempts.

जैसलमेर में जासूसी का एक और मामला उजागर, पाकिस्तानी नंबरों से संपर्क करते पकड़ा गया संदिग्ध
जैसलमेर/जयपुर | अगस्त 2025 — भारत-पाकिस्तान सीमा से सटे राजस्थान के जैसलमेर जिले में एक बार फिर से जासूसी के गंभीर मामले ने सुरक्षा एजेंसियों की चिंता बढ़ा दी है। मंगलवार को सैन्य खुफिया (MI) और अन्य जांच एजेंसियों ने जैसलमेर-जोधपुर रोड स्थित आर्मी एरिया से 30 वर्षीय जीवन खान को गिरफ्तार किया। उस पर पाकिस्तान से जुड़े नंबरों पर बातचीत करने और संदिग्ध गतिविधियों में शामिल होने का आरोप है।
पाकिस्तानी नंबरों पर हो रही थी बातचीत
सूत्रों के अनुसार, जीवन खान के मोबाइल की गहन जांच में कई पाकिस्तानी नंबर सेव मिले हैं। गिरफ्तारी के समय वह पाकिस्तानी नंबर पर बात कर रहा था। एजेंसियां लंबे समय से उस पर नज़र रख रही थीं और उसकी गतिविधियों पर लगातार निगरानी रखी जा रही थी। आखिरकार, मंगलवार को कार्रवाई करते हुए उसे हिरासत में लिया गया और अब संयुक्त जांच समिति (JIC) को सौंपा जाएगा।
आर्मी एरिया में पहले भी कर चुका है काम
जानकारी के मुताबिक, जीवन खान 2-3 साल पहले भी जैसलमेर के आर्मी एरिया स्थित एक रेस्टोरेंट में काम करता था। हाल ही में वह वापस यहां काम करने आया था। इस दौरान उसने आर्मी स्टेशन के गेट से प्रवेश करने की कोशिश भी की, लेकिन संदिग्ध हरकतें पकड़ में आने पर उसे रोक लिया गया। यही नहीं, उसके मोबाइल की जांच में पाकिस्तानी संपर्क सामने आए।
15 दिन पहले पकड़ा गया था मैनेजर
यह गिरफ्तारी जैसलमेर जिले में जासूसी से जुड़े मामलों की कड़ी में नया लिंक है। इसी महीने डीआरडीओ गेस्ट हाउस के मैनेजर को भी पाकिस्तानी खुफिया एजेंसियों को जानकारी लीक करने के आरोप में पकड़ा गया था। अब जीवन खान की गिरफ्तारी से यह साफ हो गया है कि सीमा क्षेत्र में पाकिस्तानी खुफिया एजेंसी आईएसआई लगातार जाल बिछा रही है और स्थानीय युवाओं को अपने नेटवर्क में फंसाने की कोशिश कर रही है।
चौथा मामला जैसलमेर जिले से
पिछले कुछ महीनों में जैसलमेर जिले से जासूसी के चार मामले सामने आ चुके हैं। इन मामलों में सेना से जुड़े इलाकों में काम करने वाले कर्मचारी, मैनेजर और अब रेस्टोरेंट में काम करने वाले व्यक्ति भी शामिल हैं। खुफिया एजेंसियों का मानना है कि पाकिस्तानी खुफिया तंत्र राजस्थान में लो-इंटेंसिटी नेटवर्क तैयार कर रहा है, जिसके जरिए सेना की गतिविधियों की जानकारी जुटाई जा सके।
एजेंसियों की सख्ती और अलर्ट
गिरफ्तारी के बाद जीवन खान से पूछताछ जारी है। संयुक्त जांच समिति (जिसमें मिलिट्री इंटेलिजेंस, ATS, IB और अन्य एजेंसियां शामिल हैं) यह पता लगाने की कोशिश कर रही है कि उसके संपर्क पाकिस्तान में किन लोगों से थे और वह कितने समय से सक्रिय था।
खुफिया सूत्रों का कहना है कि जीवन खान जैसे मामलों से यह साफ है कि दुश्मन देश भारत के संवेदनशील सैन्य ठिकानों के पास रहने वाले लोगों को निशाना बना रहा है। एजेंसियों ने ऐसे संवेदनशील इलाकों में काम करने वाले लोगों की बैकग्राउंड वेरिफिकेशन और सतत निगरानी को और सख्त करने के संकेत दिए हैं।
