Bikaner. Ms. Pooja Rani of Dungar College’s Zoology Department has been awarded the Young Scientist Award in the International Conference on Radiation Biology organized by the college from January 19 to 21. Principal Dr. GP Singh said that a total of six young researchers were honored with this award in the conference, in which the only Dr. Pooja Rani was the winner. Dr. Singh told that Pooja Rani is doing her research under the direction of Dr Rajendra Purohit, HOD of Zoology Department. The Principal said that the Zoology department of the college has done excellent research work in the field of radiation biology.
Head of Department Dr. Rajendra Purohit told that Pooja Rani has done research on the effect of radiation and mercury on the intestine of rats and the protective effect of Moringa oleifera on it, which was presented to the world scientists in the international conference. Pooja Rani did a biochemical and physiological study in the midgut of rats, the results of which have been surprisingly positive. Along with Pooja Rani young radiation scientists like Indu Bala, Shefali Sobti, Birbal Ram, Dr. Pankaj Joshi and Dr. Jaishree Bhanot contributed in this field. Dr. Purohit told that the consumption of drumstick plant helps a lot in the treatment of cancer patients. Dr. Purohit said that the free radicals formed by radiation are removed by the glutathione chemical produced by drumsticks, which indirectly protects the bowel and other tissues from radiations.
Faculty members of Zoology department, research scholars and top officials of the college have expressed happiness on this achievement of Pooja Rani.
