In a significant demonstration of the Indian Army’s sustained emphasis on operational readiness and future warfare preparedness, Lieutenant General Anindya Sengupta, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of the Surya Command, undertook an extensive visit to the Golden Key Division at Clement Town and Birpur Cantonment in Dehradun. During the visit, Lt Gen Sengupta carried out a detailed review of the division’s operational preparedness, focusing on how emerging technologies are being incorporated into conventional military structures. Special emphasis was laid on tech-enabled initiatives designed to enhance situational awareness, responsiveness, and adaptability in dynamic operational environments. Regimental Repair and Maintenance Facility: Strengthening Indigenous Capability
A key highlight of the visit was the Army Commander’s inspection of the Regimental Repair and Maintenance (Reg Rem) facility, where he was briefed on the division’s in-house capabilities for the upgradation, repair and maintenance of drones and Next Generation Equipment (NGEs). Appreciating the efforts of the Golden Key Eagles, Lt Gen Sengupta acknowledged the critical role such facilities play in ensuring operational continuity, reducing dependency on external logistics chains and promoting self-reliance. Birpur Cantonment: Modern Training for a Modern Battlefield
At Birpur Cantonment, the Army Commander reviewed state-of-the-art training facilities that seamlessly integrate advanced weapon systems with cutting-edge drone simulators. These facilities are designed to prepare soldiers for multi-domain operations, where conventional ground combat increasingly intersects with aerial, cyber and electronic warfare elements. The integration of simulators enables realistic, repeatable and high-intensity training scenarios without the constraints of live-fire limitations, thereby enhancing both safety and effectiveness.
Drone Training Area Showcases Future-Ready Skill Development
Lt Gen Sengupta also visited the Drone Training Area, where detailed briefings were given on training methodologies, operational capabilities and ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing unmanned aerial system (UAS) proficiency across ranks. The training framework focuses on surveillance, reconnaissance, logistics support and tactical employment of drones, reflecting their growing importance in modern combat. The emphasis on structured drone training signals the Army’s recognition of unmanned systems as force multipliers in both conventional and asymmetric warfare scenarios.

Commending the formation for establishing modern and robust training infrastructure, the Army Commander praised the high standards and quality of training being imparted to troops. बीरपुर कैंट: आधुनिक युद्ध के लिए अत्याधुनिक प्रशिक्षण
बीरपुर कैंट में सेना कमांडर ने अत्याधुनिक प्रशिक्षण सुविधाओं का निरीक्षण किया, जहाँ उन्नत हथियार प्रणालियों को ड्रोन सिमुलेटर्स के साथ एकीकृत किया गया है। ये प्रशिक्षण केंद्र सैनिकों को बहु-आयामी युद्ध के लिए तैयार करने में अहम भूमिका निभा रहे हैं, जहाँ पारंपरिक जमीनी लड़ाई के साथ-साथ हवाई, साइबर और इलेक्ट्रॉनिक युद्ध की भूमिका लगातार बढ़ रही है। सिमुलेटर आधारित प्रशिक्षण से सैनिकों को यथार्थपरक युद्ध अनुभव मिलता है, जिससे उनकी निर्णय क्षमता और प्रतिक्रिया समय में उल्लेखनीय सुधार होता है।
ड्रोन प्रशिक्षण क्षेत्र: भविष्य की युद्ध क्षमता का निर्माण
