Captain Harshit Dwivedi Awarded Commander-in-Chief, SFC Commendation for Strategic Breakthrough in Garhwal Sector

The honour bestowed upon him not only recognises individual excellence but also highlights the Indian Army’s continuous focus on innovation and adaptability in challenging operational environments.

Captain Harshit Dwivedi

In a significant achievement for the Indian Army, Captain Harshit Dwivedi has been awarded the prestigious Commander-in-Chief, Strategic Forces Command (SFC) Commendation for his exceptional service and operational contribution in a high-altitude deployment area.

Captain Dwivedi earned this recognition after identifying a critical Surveillance and Observation Location (SVL) point, now named ‘Harshit Top’, situated at an altitude of approximately 18,600 feet in the Garhwal Sector. This vantage point overlooks a key pass used by the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), making it strategically vital for monitoring cross-border movements and activities.

The discovery of ‘Harshit Top’ marks a major operational advantage for Indian forces deployed in the region. Due to extreme terrain and adverse weather conditions, conducting regular foot patrols in this area had previously been highly challenging. With the establishment of this observation point, surveillance capabilities have significantly improved, enabling early detection of developments and movements across the border.

In addition to his field achievement, Captain Dwivedi has also made noteworthy contributions in the domain of military innovation and drone training. His efforts have strengthened the unit’s technological capabilities, particularly in enhancing reconnaissance and surveillance through modern unmanned systems.

An officer from the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME) on attachment, Captain Dwivedi’s accomplishment reflects both technical expertise and operational acumen. Hailing from a humble farming background, his journey stands as a testament to dedication, perseverance, and commitment to national service.

The honour bestowed upon him not only recognises individual excellence but also highlights the Indian Army’s continuous focus on innovation and adaptability in challenging operational environments.
