CRPF Dismisses Jawan for Hiding Pakistani Wife’s Details, Alleged Threat to National Security
New Delhi / Srinagar – The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has dismissed Munir Ahmed, a jawan of its 41st Battalion, from service after revelations emerged about his marriage to a Pakistani woman and his alleged concealment of her visa status. The force has termed his actions a violation of service conduct and a potential threat to national security.
According to officials, Munir Ahmed, a resident of Handwal village near Rabta tehsil in Jammu district, married Meenal Khan, a Pakistani national from Sialkot, through an online ceremony in May 2024. Meenal entered India in March 2025 on a short-term visa and applied for a long-term stay, which is still pending with the Ministry of Home Affairs.

CRPF stated in its internal communication that Munir had failed to report Meenal’s presence and status accurately, and knowingly allowed her to stay illegally after her visa expired. The decision to terminate his service was taken after a departmental inquiry confirmed the violations.
Connection to Pahalgam Terror Attack Investigation
The matter surfaced after the April 22 Pahalgam terrorist attack, which prompted the Indian government to suspend all active visas issued to Pakistani nationals. Meenal too received a deportation notice in the days following the attack.
Munir Ahmed, however, attempted to block her deportation by filing a petition in the Bhallwal court in Jammu. In his plea, he claimed that their marriage was genuine and that her visa extension application was pending due to procedural delays.
A March 1, 2025, event in Handwal village celebrating Meenal’s arrival had also drawn local attention. Though court orders prevented her immediate deportation, the media spotlight and national security concerns led CRPF to act against Munir.
Humanitarian Plea vs. Security Considerations
On April 30, while being escorted for deportation, Meenal made an emotional appeal to the Indian public and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She claimed innocence and condemned terrorism, stating, “Punishing innocent families in the name of terrorism is unjust. I applied for visa extension in time, but now they are separating us. Many children and families are facing the same fate. This is inhuman.”
She urged the Indian authorities to differentiate between peaceful civilians and those who threaten national security.
CRPF’s Firm Stand
Despite the appeals, CRPF maintained a zero-tolerance stance on breaches of protocol involving foreign nationals, especially from Pakistan. The force said that allowing a foreign national to reside in the country in violation of visa norms, particularly after an attack with suspected cross-border links, could not be condoned.
Sources confirm that intelligence agencies are still verifying Meenal’s background and any possible links. Her long-term visa application remains under security review.

नई दिल्ली / श्रीनगर – पाकिस्तान की नागरिक मीनल खान से शादी करने और उसके वीजा की जानकारी छिपाने के आरोप में सेंट्रल रिजर्व पुलिस फोर्स (CRPF) ने अपने 41वीं बटालियन के जवान मुनीर अहमद को सेवा से बर्खास्त कर दिया है। CRPF ने इसे सेवा आचरण का उल्लंघन और राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा के लिए खतरा करार दिया है।
सूत्रों के अनुसार, जम्मू जिले के राब्ता तहसील के पास स्थित हंदवाल गांव के रहने वाले मुनीर अहमद ने मई 2024 में सियालकोट (पाकिस्तान) की रहने वाली मीनल खान से ऑनलाइन शादी की थी। मीनल मार्च 2025 में शॉर्ट टर्म वीजा पर भारत आई और लॉन्ग टर्म वीजा के लिए आवेदन किया, जो अब भी गृह मंत्रालय के पास लंबित है।
CRPF ने अपनी जांच में पाया कि मुनीर ने मीनल की भारत में उपस्थिति और वीजा की स्थिति की जानकारी छिपाई और वीजा खत्म होने के बावजूद उसे अवैध रूप से देश में रखा। जांच में दोषी पाए जाने के बाद मुनीर को बर्खास्त कर दिया गया।
पहलगाम हमले के बाद सामने आया मामला
22 अप्रैल को हुए पहलगाम आतंकी हमले के बाद भारत सरकार ने सभी पाकिस्तानी नागरिकों के वीजा को निलंबित कर दिया था। मीनल को भी देश छोड़ने का नोटिस मिला था। इसके खिलाफ मुनीर ने जम्मू की भलवाल कोर्ट में याचिका दाखिल की, जिसमें दावा किया गया कि उनकी शादी वैध है और वीजा का आवेदन प्रक्रियागत कारणों से लंबित है।
1 मार्च 2025 को हंदवाल गांव में मीनल के आगमन पर एक समारोह भी आयोजित किया गया था, जिसने गांव और मीडिया का ध्यान खींचा। कोर्ट के आदेश से भले ही मीनल को तत्काल डिपोर्ट नहीं किया गया, लेकिन मीडिया में मामला सामने आने के बाद CRPF ने तुरंत कार्रवाई करते हुए मुनीर को सेवा से हटा दिया।
मानवता बनाम राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा का सवाल
30 अप्रैल को डिपोर्ट के लिए ले जाते समय मीनल ने मीडिया से बातचीत में कहा, “हम आतंकवाद की निंदा करते हैं, लेकिन निर्दोष लोगों को सजा देना कहां का न्याय है? मैंने समय पर वीजा बढ़ाने के लिए आवेदन किया था, अब हमें पति-पत्नी को अलग किया जा रहा है। यह अमानवीय है।”
मीनल ने प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी से अपील करते हुए कहा कि आतंकवाद के नाम पर हर पाकिस्तानी को शक की निगाह से देखना सही नहीं है।
CRPF का सख्त रवैया
CRPF ने अपने बयान में कहा कि नियमों का उल्लंघन करने और संवेदनशील समय में पाकिस्तानी नागरिक को भारत में पनाह देने जैसा कृत्य बर्दाश्त नहीं किया जा सकता। सुरक्षा एजेंसियां मीनल के पृष्ठभूमि की जांच कर रही हैं और उसका वीजा अभी भी समीक्षा में है।
