DGR ORGANISES GRAND EMPLOYMENT FAIR FOR INDIAN ARMED FORCES VETERANS IN DEHRADUN, STRENGTHENING THE SECOND CAREER PATH FOR EX-SERVICEMEN
In a major initiative aimed at strengthening post-retirement livelihood opportunities for India’s military veterans, the (DGR), under the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, Ministry of Defence, organised a large-scale Employment Fair for Ex-Servicemen at Garhi Cantt, , on Friday, 13 February 2026. The event was conceptualised as a comprehensive platform to directly connect retired and retiring personnel of the Indian Armed Forces with leading corporate organisations, government agencies and industry bodies, enabling a smooth and dignified transition into civilian careers.
SENIOR POLITICAL, MILITARY AND INDUSTRY LEADERS GRACE THE EVENT
The employment fair witnessed the presence of several eminent dignitaries, underlining the importance accorded to veterans’ welfare at both policy and execution levels. , Hon’ble Minister for Soldier Welfare, Government of Uttarakhand, attended the programme as the chief guest. He was joined by , SM, Director General (Resettlement), along with , Director, (CII). Senior military officers, corporate representatives, ex-servicemen, Veer Naris and dependents were also present in large numbers, lending the event both scale and significance.
SOLDIER WELFARE MINISTER HIGHLIGHTS THE VALUE OF MILITARY EXPERIENCE
Addressing the gathering, Hon’ble Minister Ganesh Joshi paid rich tribute to the veterans, stating that every ex-serviceman present had devoted the most valuable years of his life to the service of the motherland. He emphasised that the experience, discipline, integrity and work ethic of former soldiers constitute an invaluable national asset for society and the corporate sector alike. Praising the DGR initiative, he described the employment fair as a vital step in providing ex-servicemen with meaningful second-career opportunities, aligned with the Prime Minister’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, Make in India, and promotion of self-employment. He reiterated that the Central and State Governments remain fully committed to the rehabilitation, resettlement and long-term welfare of veterans and their families.
STRONG PARTICIPATION FROM ARMED FORCES LEADERSHIP
The event also saw the participation of senior serving and retired officers, reinforcing institutional support for the initiative. Among those present were Brigadier Vinod Singh Negi, Commandant, Garhwal Rifles Regimental Centre; Brigadier Sudhir Malik, ADG, DRZ (West), Chandimandir; and Colonel Aditya Srivastava, SC, SM (Veteran), Headquarters UK Sub Area. Their presence added operational credibility to the programme and encouraged veterans to actively engage with recruiters and training partners.
DGR REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO HOME-STATE REHABILITATION
Speaking on the occasion, Major General SBK Singh, SM, Director General (Resettlement), expressed gratitude to the Hon’ble Soldier Welfare Minister for his motivating address and continued support to veteran-centric initiatives. He warmly welcomed Veer Naris, dependents and participating companies, stating that the courage, leadership, adaptability and discipline of ex-servicemen are perfectly aligned with the requirements of modern industry. He underlined that DGR remains committed to ensuring that veterans from Uttarakhand are provided respectable second-career opportunities within their home state itself, reducing the social and economic challenges associated with migration after retirement.
OVERWHELMING RESPONSE FROM EX-SERVICEMEN ACROSS THREE SERVICES
The employment fair witnessed enthusiastic participation from the veteran community of Uttarakhand. More than 1,250 ex-servicemen from the Army, Navy and Air Force registered and actively took part in the recruitment process. This strong turnout reflected both the demand for structured resettlement opportunities and the trust reposed by veterans in DGR-led initiatives. Participants engaged in interviews, counselling sessions and direct interactions with recruiters, showcasing their technical, managerial and administrative competencies.
43 LEADING COMPANIES OFFER NEARLY 1,500 JOB OPPORTUNITIES
On the industry side, 43 leading national and multinational companies participated in the event, collectively offering over 1,480 employment opportunities across a wide range of sectors. Shortlisted candidates were screened for supervisory roles, technical support positions, junior-to-senior management posts and administrative responsibilities. The recruitment process highlighted the corporate sector’s growing recognition of ex-servicemen as a reliable, disciplined and high-value workforce.
PROMINENT CORPORATE PARTICIPATION AND ON-SPOT APPOINTMENTS
Several reputed organisations took part in the job fair, including Genus Power Infra Limited, SIS, HDFC Life Insurance, ICICI Bank, Max Hospitals, Hawk Security Agency, and many other well-known enterprises. Notably, Pramerica Life Insurance issued on-the-spot appointment letters to two selected candidates, reflecting the tangible outcomes achieved during the event itself. Gaurav Lamba, Director, CII Uttarakhand, attended as Corporate Guest of Honour, further strengthening industry-military collaboration.
A WIN-WIN PLATFORM FOR VETERANS AND INDUSTRY
The employment fair emerged as a powerful platform for veterans to demonstrate their professional competence beyond uniform, while enabling industries to access a pool of experienced, trained and mission-oriented human resources. For ex-servicemen, it offered confidence, direction and dignity in their transition to civilian life. For corporates, it provided an opportunity to evaluate and absorb individuals with proven leadership, crisis-management and organisational skills.

The Dehradun employment fair stands as a testament to the Directorate General Resettlement’s sustained efforts to ensure meaningful rehabilitation of India’s ex-servicemen. देहरादून में डीजीआर का भव्य रोजगार मेला, पूर्व सैनिकों के सम्मानजनक द्वितीय करियर की दिशा में बड़ा कदम
भारतीय सशस्त्र बलों के पूर्व सैनिकों के पुनर्वास और भविष्य को सशक्त बनाने की दिशा में एक महत्वपूर्ण पहल करते हुए (DGR) ने रक्षा मंत्रालय के पूर्व सैनिक कल्याण विभाग के अंतर्गत 13 फरवरी 2026 को गढ़ी कैंट, (उत्तराखंड) में एक भव्य रोजगार मेले का आयोजन किया। इस आयोजन का मुख्य उद्देश्य सेवानिवृत्त एवं सेवानिवृत्त होने वाले सैनिकों को देश की अग्रणी कॉर्पोरेट कंपनियों और संस्थानों के साथ एक साझा मंच पर लाकर उन्हें सम्मानजनक और स्थायी द्वितीय करियर के अवसर उपलब्ध कराना था।
राजनीतिक, सैन्य और उद्योग जगत के वरिष्ठ नेतृत्व की गरिमामयी उपस्थिति
इस रोजगार मेले में सरकार, सशस्त्र बलों और उद्योग जगत की मजबूत सहभागिता देखने को मिली। कार्यक्रम में , उत्तराखंड सरकार के माननीय सैनिक कल्याण मंत्री, मुख्य अतिथि के रूप में उपस्थित रहे। उनके साथ , एस.एम., महानिदेशक (पुनर्वास) तथा , निदेशक, (CII) भी कार्यक्रम में शामिल हुए। इसके अतिरिक्त बड़ी संख्या में पूर्व सैनिक, वीर नारियाँ, आश्रितगण, वरिष्ठ सैन्य अधिकारी और कॉर्पोरेट प्रतिनिधि भी इस आयोजन का हिस्सा बने।
सैनिक कल्याण मंत्री का भावनात्मक और प्रेरणादायक संबोधन
अपने संबोधन में माननीय गणेश जोशी ने उपस्थित पूर्व सैनिकों को नमन करते हुए कहा कि उन्होंने अपने जीवन का स्वर्णिम काल मातृभूमि की सेवा में समर्पित किया है। उन्होंने कहा कि अनुशासन, नेतृत्व, ईमानदारी और कार्यनिष्ठा जैसी विशेषताएँ पूर्व सैनिकों को समाज और कॉर्पोरेट जगत के लिए एक अमूल्य संपदा बनाती हैं। उन्होंने डीजीआर द्वारा आयोजित इस रोजगार मेले की सराहना करते हुए इसे पूर्व सैनिकों के लिए सम्मानजनक द्वितीय करियर की दिशा में एक सशक्त पहल बताया, जो प्रधानमंत्री के आत्मनिर्भर भारत, मेक इन इंडिया और स्वरोज़गार के राष्ट्रीय संकल्पों से सीधे जुड़ी हुई है। उन्होंने आश्वासन दिया कि केंद्र और राज्य सरकारें पूर्व सैनिकों के पुनर्वास और उज्ज्वल भविष्य के लिए पूरी तरह प्रतिबद्ध हैं।
वरिष्ठ सैन्य अधिकारियों की सहभागिता से बढ़ा आत्मविश्वास
कार्यक्रम में सैन्य नेतृत्व की सक्रिय मौजूदगी ने पूर्व सैनिकों का मनोबल और अधिक बढ़ाया। ब्रिगेडियर विनोद सिंह नेगी, कमांडेंट, गढ़वाल राइफल्स रेजिमेंटल सेंटर; ब्रिगेडियर सुधीर मलिक, एडीजी, डीआरजेड (पश्चिम), चंडीमंडिर; तथा कर्नल आदित्य श्रीवास्तव, एससी, एसएम (वेटरन), मुख्यालय यूके सब एरिया की उपस्थिति ने यह संदेश दिया कि सेना संस्था अपने जवानों के भविष्य को लेकर सदैव सजग और संवेदनशील है।
डीजीआर का गृह राज्य में पुनर्वास पर विशेष जोर
मेजर जनरल एसबीके सिंह, एस.एम., महानिदेशक (पुनर्वास) ने अपने संबोधन में माननीय सैनिक कल्याण मंत्री का आभार व्यक्त करते हुए वीर नारियों, आश्रितों और सहभागी कंपनियों का स्वागत किया। उन्होंने कहा कि पूर्व सैनिकों में साहस, अनुशासन, नेतृत्व और निर्णय क्षमता जैसी वे सभी विशेषताएँ होती हैं जिनकी आज के उद्योग जगत को अत्यधिक आवश्यकता है। उन्होंने स्पष्ट किया कि डीजीआर का उद्देश्य उत्तराखंड के पूर्व सैनिकों को उनके गृह राज्य में ही सम्मानजनक रोजगार उपलब्ध कराना है, जिससे सेवानिवृत्ति के बाद उन्हें सामाजिक और पारिवारिक स्तर पर स्थिरता मिल सके। उन्होंने पूर्व सैनिकों से उपलब्ध अवसरों का भरपूर लाभ उठाने और उद्योग जगत से इस अनुभवी मानव संसाधन को अपनाने का आह्वान किया।
तीनों सेनाओं के 1250 से अधिक पूर्व सैनिकों की उत्साहपूर्ण भागीदारी
उत्तराखंड क्षेत्र के पूर्व सैनिकों ने इस रोजगार मेले में जबरदस्त उत्साह दिखाया। थल सेना, नौसेना और वायु सेना से जुड़े 1,250 से अधिक पूर्व सैनिकों ने पंजीकरण कर सक्रिय सहभागिता की। विभिन्न साक्षात्कार सत्रों, काउंसलिंग और स्क्रीनिंग प्रक्रियाओं के दौरान पूर्व सैनिकों ने अपनी तकनीकी, प्रबंधकीय और प्रशासनिक क्षमताओं का प्रभावशाली प्रदर्शन किया।
43 कंपनियों ने दिए लगभग 1,500 रोजगार अवसर
रोजगार मेले में 43 राष्ट्रीय और बहुराष्ट्रीय कंपनियों ने भाग लिया, जिन्होंने मिलकर 1,480 से अधिक रोजगार अवसर उपलब्ध कराए। चयन प्रक्रिया के दौरान शॉर्टलिस्ट किए गए पूर्व सैनिकों को सुपरवाइजरी, तकनीकी सहायता, जूनियर से सीनियर प्रबंधन और प्रशासनिक पदों के लिए परखा गया। यह भागीदारी इस बात का संकेत है कि कॉर्पोरेट क्षेत्र में पूर्व सैनिकों की मांग लगातार बढ़ रही है।
प्रतिष्ठित कंपनियों की भागीदारी और ऑन-द-स्पॉट नियुक्ति पत्र
इस आयोजन में जीनस पावर इंफ्रा लिमिटेड, एसआईएस, एचडीएफसी लाइफ इंश्योरेंस, आईसीआईसीआई बैंक, मैक्स हॉस्पिटल्स, हॉक सिक्योरिटी एजेंसी सहित कई प्रतिष्ठित संस्थान शामिल रहे। विशेष रूप से प्रामेरिका लाइफ इंश्योरेंस ने चयन प्रक्रिया के दौरान दो उम्मीदवारों को मौके पर ही नियुक्ति पत्र प्रदान किए, जो इस रोजगार मेले की तात्कालिक सफलता को दर्शाता है। सीआईआई उत्तराखंड के निदेशक गौरव लांबा ने कॉर्पोरेट अतिथि-विशेष के रूप में अपनी गरिमामयी उपस्थिति दर्ज कराई।
पूर्व सैनिकों और उद्योग जगत – दोनों के लिए लाभकारी मंच
यह रोजगार मेला पूर्व सैनिकों के लिए अपनी क्षमताओं को वर्दी से बाहर साबित करने का एक सशक्त मंच बना, वहीं उद्योग जगत को अनुशासित, प्रशिक्षित और अनुभवी मानव संसाधन तक सीधी पहुंच मिली। पूर्व सैनिकों के लिए यह आत्मविश्वास और सम्मान का अवसर था, जबकि कंपनियों के लिए यह नेतृत्व क्षमता और विश्वसनीयता से भरपूर कार्यबल के चयन का सशक्त माध्यम साबित हुआ।
