AHEAD OF ARMY DAY, A POWERFUL TRIBUTE TO INDIA’S VETERANS IN JAIPUR

In a significant and deeply symbolic gesture ahead of Army Day, the Military Hospital, Jaipur organised a two-day Mega Medical Camp for Ex-Servicemen and their dependents on 05–06 January 2026, reaffirming the Indian Army’s unwavering commitment to those who once stood guard for the nation. The landmark initiative was inaugurated by Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Ms Diya Kumari, in the presence of senior military commanders, civil officials, doctors, and a large gathering of veterans and their families.
The timing of the camp — on the eve of Army Day celebrations — added profound meaning to the event, transforming it from a medical initiative into a living tribute to the spirit of service, sacrifice, and lifelong honour associated with India’s armed forces.
A FIRST-OF-ITS-KIND INITIATIVE FOCUSED ON COMPREHENSIVE, FREE HEALTHCARE
This pioneering Mega Medical Camp marked a historic step in veteran welfare, offering integrated, free-of-cost, high-quality healthcare services under one roof. Designed specifically to cater to the most pressing medical needs of ex-servicemen and their dependents, the camp functioned as a one-stop medical solution — combining diagnostics, specialist consultations, treatment guidance, and preventive healthcare.
The initiative stood out not only for its scale but also for its holistic approach, addressing long-term health challenges faced by veterans after years of physically demanding service in varied and often extreme operational environments.
ADVANCED ORTHOPEDIC AND BONE & JOINT CARE UNDER ONE ROOF
A key highlight of the camp was the Bone and Joint Wellness Clinic, established to address the widespread orthopedic issues prevalent among retired soldiers. Veterans received on-the-spot X-ray and Bone Mineral Density (BMD) testing, allowing for immediate assessment and diagnosis. Eminent orthopedic specialists conducted detailed consultations, while personalised physiotherapy sessions, supported by live exercise demonstrations, helped veterans understand long-term mobility management and rehabilitation techniques.
This integrated orthopedic care model reflected a deep understanding of the physical toll military service takes on the human body and showcased the Army Medical Corps’ capability to deliver targeted solutions with compassion and precision.
COMPREHENSIVE CARDIAC CARE FOR A CRITICAL NEED
Recognising the rising incidence of cardiac ailments among veterans, the Mega Medical Camp placed strong emphasis on comprehensive heart care. Expert cardiologists provided consultations supported by on-site ECG and ECHO diagnostic facilities, ensuring accurate and timely evaluation. Importantly, prescribed medicines were made available on the same day, eliminating delays and easing the burden on elderly veterans and their families.
This focus on cardiac health highlighted the Army’s proactive approach toward preventive medicine and long-term wellness for its retired personnel.
ARMY COMMANDER HIGHLIGHTS THE SCALE OF RESPONSIBILITY
Addressing the august gathering, Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh, Army Commander, Sapta Shakti Command, provided critical insight into the scale of veteran healthcare responsibility within the Command. He stated that the Command accounts for nearly 3,70,000 ex-servicemen and 7,30,000 dependents, of whom approximately 31,000 suffer from cardiac conditions and nearly 16,000 face orthopedic issues.
He emphasized that the Mega Medical Camp was conceptualised to directly address these realities, delivering targeted, high-quality healthcare solutions aligned with the actual medical profile of the veteran population. The Army Commander also recalled earlier landmark initiatives by Military Hospital Jaipur, including the Mega Cataract Surgery Eye Camp and the establishment of a Cardiac Lab, underscoring a sustained and evolving commitment to veteran healthcare.
BEYOND TREATMENT: PROMOTING ACTIVE AND HEALTHY POST-SERVICE LIFE
Beyond clinical care, the Mega Medical Camp carried a larger message — encouraging veterans to remain active, self-reliant, health-conscious, and mentally resilient in their post-service lives. Health guidance sessions focused on lifestyle management, physical fitness, and mental well-being, reinforcing the idea that care for soldiers does not end with retirement.
This approach aligned seamlessly with the Indian Army’s ethos of lifelong responsibility toward its personnel, recognising that dignity, health, and purpose remain integral well after active service.

सेना दिवस की पूर्व संध्या पर भारतीय सेना की अपने पूर्व सैनिकों के प्रति अटूट प्रतिबद्धता एक बार फिर सशक्त रूप में सामने आई, जब मिलिट्री हॉस्पिटल, जयपुर द्वारा 05–06 जनवरी 2026 को पूर्व सैनिकों एवं उनके आश्रितों के लिए दो दिवसीय मेगा मेडिकल कैंप का आयोजन किया गया। इस ऐतिहासिक और अभिनव पहल का उद्घाटन राजस्थान की माननीय उपमुख्यमंत्री दिया कुमारी ने वरिष्ठ सैन्य एवं सिविल अधिकारियों की गरिमामयी उपस्थिति में किया।
सेना दिवस से ठीक पहले आयोजित यह शिविर केवल एक चिकित्सा कार्यक्रम नहीं, बल्कि उन वीरों के प्रति राष्ट्र का सम्मान था, जिन्होंने अपने जीवन के सर्वश्रेष्ठ वर्ष देश की रक्षा में समर्पित कर दिए।
पूर्व सैनिकों के लिए निःशुल्क और समग्र स्वास्थ्य सेवा की अनूठी पहल

अस्थि एवं जोड़ रोगों के लिए अत्याधुनिक बोन एंड जॉइंट वेलनेस क्लिनिक
कैंप का एक प्रमुख आकर्षण बोन एंड जॉइंट वेलनेस क्लिनिक रहा, जो विशेष रूप से उन पूर्व सैनिकों के लिए तैयार किया गया था, जिन्होंने वर्षों तक कठिन भौगोलिक परिस्थितियों और शारीरिक चुनौतियों में सेवा दी। यहां तत्काल एक्स-रे और बीएमडी (Bone Mineral Density) जांच की सुविधा उपलब्ध कराई गई, जिससे अस्थि रोगों का त्वरित आकलन संभव हो सका।
प्रख्यात आर्थोपेडिक विशेषज्ञों ने गहन परामर्श प्रदान किया, वहीं लाइव व्यायाम प्रदर्शन के साथ व्यक्तिगत फिजियोथेरेपी सत्रों ने पूर्व सैनिकों को अपनी शारीरिक क्षमता बनाए रखने और दर्द प्रबंधन के व्यावहारिक उपाय सिखाए।
हृदय रोगियों के लिए समर्पित और समग्र कार्डियक केयर
सेवानिवृत्ति के बाद पूर्व सैनिकों में हृदय रोगों की बढ़ती प्रवृत्ति को ध्यान में रखते हुए कैंप में विशेष कार्डियक केयर सेवाएँ भी उपलब्ध कराई गईं। अनुभवी हृदय रोग विशेषज्ञों द्वारा परामर्श के साथ-साथ ऑन-साइट ईसीजी और ईको जांच की सुविधा ने त्वरित और सटीक निदान सुनिश्चित किया।
विशेष बात यह रही कि चिकित्सकों द्वारा लिखी गई आवश्यक दवाएं उसी दिन उपलब्ध कराई गईं, जिससे बुजुर्ग पूर्व सैनिकों और उनके परिजनों को अतिरिक्त परेशानी का सामना न करना पड़े।
सप्त शक्ति कमांड के आर्मी कमांडर ने रखे आंकड़े और आवश्यकता का स्पष्ट चित्र
इस अवसर पर उपस्थित जनसमूह को संबोधित करते हुए लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल मनजिंदर सिंह, आर्मी कमांडर, सप्त शक्ति कमांड ने अपने कमांड क्षेत्र में पूर्व सैनिकों की संख्या और उनकी स्वास्थ्य आवश्यकताओं पर प्रकाश डाला। उन्होंने बताया कि कमांड के अंतर्गत लगभग 3,70,000 पूर्व सैनिक और 7,30,000 आश्रित हैं, जिनमें से करीब 31,000 हृदय रोग और लगभग 16,000 आर्थोपेडिक समस्याओं से जूझ रहे हैं।
उन्होंने कहा कि इन्हीं वास्तविक आवश्यकताओं को ध्यान में रखते हुए यह मेगा मेडिकल कैंप आयोजित किया गया है, ताकि पूर्व सैनिकों को उच्च गुणवत्ता वाली, लक्षित और सम्मानजनक चिकित्सा सेवाएँ मिल सकें। उन्होंने मिलिट्री हॉस्पिटल, जयपुर द्वारा पूर्व में आयोजित मेगा मोतियाबिंद शल्य चिकित्सा शिविर और कार्डियक लैब की स्थापना का भी उल्लेख किया।
इलाज से आगे: सक्रिय, आत्मनिर्भर और स्वस्थ जीवन का संदेश
यह मेडिकल कैंप केवल रोगों के इलाज तक सीमित नहीं रहा, बल्कि इसका व्यापक उद्देश्य पूर्व सैनिकों को सक्रिय, आत्मनिर्भर और स्वास्थ्य के प्रति जागरूक बनाए रखना भी रहा। स्वास्थ्य मार्गदर्शन सत्रों के माध्यम से शारीरिक फिटनेस, संतुलित जीवनशैली और मानसिक स्वास्थ्य के महत्व पर विशेष जोर दिया गया।
यह पहल इस सोच को दर्शाती है कि भारतीय सेना अपने सैनिकों की जिम्मेदारी को सेवानिवृत्ति के साथ समाप्त नहीं मानती, बल्कि जीवनभर उनके कल्याण के लिए प्रतिबद्ध रहती है।
