Free Eye Care Camp Held in Jorawarpura: 550 Patients Screened, 17 Selected for Surgery – Anganwadi Centre Renovated

In a remarkable display of community service, a free eye care camp was organized on Saturday at the historic Shiva Temple premises in Jorawarpura village. The initiative brought together retired officials, social workers, doctors, and charitable organizations with a shared mission of restoring vision and providing hope to hundreds of villagers.
The camp was inaugurated by the head priest of the Shiva Temple, in the presence of community leaders and local residents. The noble event was spearheaded by retired SE (Discom) E.R.R. Saharan and his family, supported by the Rotary Club Bikaner Adhya, and partnered with Acharya Tulsi Nayan Netra Chikitsalaya, along with social contributors such as Rajendra Bolecha, Ghanshyam Ji, Mukesh Ji, Hariya Kalyan Ji, Rajendra Ji Moondra, and the Rotary Nish team. Eminent eye surgeon Dr. Ashish Joshi and his medical team led the camp.
Adding a unique touch, motivational speaker and humorist Murari Ji also participated in the promotion and motivation for the charity, bringing positivity and awareness among the masses.
The Medical Impact
The camp attracted not only villagers from Jorawarpura but also from dozens of surrounding villages. A total of 550 patients underwent eye check-ups, of which 17 were shortlisted for corrective surgeries. The organizers ensured that all selected patients would receive free surgeries, food, medicines, travel, and accommodation until recovery.
Dr. Joshi and his team not only conducted examinations but also educated the rural population on preventive eye care, importance of regular check-ups, and measures to avoid blindness due to negligence.
Retired SE E.R.R. Saharan expressed deep satisfaction over the initiative, stating:
“Such medical camps are nothing short of a blessing for rural areas. Many patients suffer in silence and risk blindness simply because they cannot afford or access timely treatment. By bringing healthcare to their doorstep, we are giving them new light and a new life.”
Anganwadi Centre Gets a New Life
The initiative extended beyond healthcare. The Shiva Temple premises also housed an Anganwadi, but it had fallen into disrepair. Children were forced to study in unsafe, open, and dilapidated spaces. Seizing the opportunity, the organizers renovated the entire complex.
The rooms were repaired, repainted, flooring was redone, and washrooms were cleaned and refurbished. With this, the Anganwadi has been restored to a fully functional, safe, and child-friendly learning environment.
Local villagers hailed the effort as a holistic step towards both health and education, underlining how the initiative has addressed two fundamental needs of the rural community.
The event not only restored vision to patients but also gave new hope to children, symbolizing a larger social transformation through community-driven initiatives.

ग्राम जोरावरपुरा स्थित प्राचीन शिव मंदिर परिसर में शनिवार को एक विशाल नि:शुल्क नेत्र चिकित्सा शिविर आयोजित किया गया। यह शिविर ग्रामीण अंचल में स्वास्थ्य सेवाओं की बड़ी मिसाल बनकर सामने आया, जहाँ समाजसेवी, चिकित्सक और संस्थाएँ एक साथ आए और ग्रामीणों की आँखों की रोशनी बचाने के लिए एकजुट हुए।
शिविर का शुभारंभ शिव मंदिर के महंत जी ने किया। इस आयोजन की अगुवाई डिस्कॉम के सेवानिवृत्त एस.ई. आर.आर. सहारण साहब और उनके परिवार ने की। आयोजन में रोटरी क्लब बीकानेर आध्या, आचार्य तुलसी नेत्र चिकित्सालय तथा समाजसेवियों – राजेंद्र बलेचा, घनश्याम जी, मुकेश जी, हरिया कल्याण जी, राजेंद्र जी मूंदड़ा और रोटरी नेश की पूरी टीम ने सहयोग दिया। शिविर का संचालन नेत्र विशेषज्ञ सर्जन डॉ. आशीष जोशी और उनकी टीम ने किया।
विशेष आकर्षण यह रहा कि मोटिवेशनल स्पीकर व हास्य अभिनेता मुरारी जी ने भी शिविर को प्रमोट किया और ग्रामीणों को जागरूक करने में योगदान दिया।
550 मरीजों की जांच – 17 को मिलेगा ऑपरेशन का लाभ
शिविर में केवल जोरावरपुरा ही नहीं बल्कि आसपास के दर्जनों गाँवों से लोग आए। कुल 550 मरीजों की नेत्र जांच की गई, जिनमें से 17 मरीजों का चयन ऑपरेशन के लिए किया गया। इन मरीजों को ऑपरेशन तक भोजन, दवाई, ठहरने और आने-जाने की पूरी सुविधा नि:शुल्क उपलब्ध कराई जाएगी।
डॉ. आशीष जोशी ने मरीजों की जांच के साथ-साथ ग्रामीणों को आँखों की देखभाल, समय-समय पर जांच की आवश्यकता और रोगों से बचाव के उपायों के बारे में भी जानकारी दी।
इस अवसर पर सेवानिवृत्त एस.ई. सहारण साहब ने कहा –
“इस तरह के शिविर ग्रामीण क्षेत्र के लिए वरदान हैं। उपचार न मिल पाने के कारण कई लोग अंधत्व का शिकार हो जाते हैं। ऐसे में यह शिविर उन्हें नई रोशनी देने का कार्य करते हैं।”
आंगनबाड़ी केंद्र को मिला नया रूप
शिव मंदिर परिसर में पहले से आंगनबाड़ी संचालित होती थी, लेकिन वह जर्जर अवस्था में थी। बच्चों को खुले में बैठना पड़ता था और खराब ढांचे के कारण कठिनाइयाँ आती थीं। इस अवसर पर पूरे परिसर की मरम्मत करवाई गई।
कमरों में नया रंग-रोगन किया गया, टूटी-फूटी फर्श को ठीक किया गया और शौचालयों की सफाई व सुधार करवाए गए। अब यह परिसर पूरी तरह से तैयार है और आंगनबाड़ी को सुरक्षित और सुचारू रूप से संचालित किया जा सकेगा।
गाँववासियों ने कहा कि यह पहल केवल स्वास्थ्य ही नहीं बल्कि शिक्षा और बच्चों के पोषण की दृष्टि से भी सराहनीय है।
यह शिविर गाँव के लिए एक नई सुबह लेकर आया, जहाँ बुजुर्गों की आँखों को रोशनी मिली और बच्चों को सुरक्षित शिक्षा का माहौल।
