JAIPUR: Reinforcing the Indian Army’s enduring commitment towards the welfare, dignity and well-being of its veterans and their families, Gandiv Division has launched a special outreach initiative titled ‘Gandiv Hardik Milan 1.0’ on the occasion of its Golden Jubilee. The initiative marks another significant step towards strengthening the bond between serving soldiers and the veteran community, while ensuring that those who dedicated the prime years of their lives to the service of the nation continue to receive the support, respect and assistance they deserve.
Launched on November 1, 2026, the campaign is being conducted across Rajasthan with a particular focus on reaching veterans, Veer Naris, families of battle participants and their dependents. The initiative aims to address a range of welfare-related requirements, including pension-related issues, difficulties in accessing government welfare schemes, administrative matters and other grievances that often require coordination with multiple departments and authorities.
The launch of ‘Gandiv Hardik Milan 1.0’ assumes special significance as Gandiv Division celebrates its Golden Jubilee, marking five decades of its journey and contribution to the Indian Army. The occasion has been utilised not merely as a milestone in the Division’s institutional history but also as an opportunity to reaffirm its responsibility towards the larger military fraternity, particularly those who have completed their service and continue to remain an integral part of the Army family.
The campaign was simultaneously launched from four locations — Kota, Jaipur, Lalgarh Jattan and Alwar — on November 1. As part of the initiative, four dedicated outreach teams have been constituted to undertake an extensive engagement programme across different districts and remote areas of Rajasthan between November 1 and 15, 2026.
These specially trained teams will travel to various locations to establish direct contact with the veteran community and understand the challenges faced by former personnel and their families. Their outreach will include personal interactions with ex-servicemen, Veer Naris, families of battle participants and dependents, enabling the Division to identify their specific requirements and facilitate appropriate assistance.
A major focus of the campaign will be pension-related assistance. For many veterans and their families, pension matters can involve complicated documentation, procedural requirements, discrepancies in records and coordination with different government offices. Such issues can become particularly challenging for elderly veterans and families residing in remote areas, where access to relevant administrative institutions may be limited.
Through ‘Gandiv Hardik Milan 1.0’, the Division intends to bridge this gap by providing guidance, facilitating coordination with concerned authorities and helping beneficiaries navigate the necessary administrative procedures. The initiative also seeks to create greater awareness about various welfare schemes and entitlements available to veterans and their dependents.
The inclusion of Veer Naris and families of battle participants reflects the campaign’s broader understanding of military welfare. The sacrifices made by soldiers and their families extend beyond the battlefield, and the responsibilities of the military fraternity towards them continue long after active service. By directly engaging with these families, the Division seeks to ensure that their concerns receive appropriate attention and that they remain connected with the support network of the Indian Army.
An important feature of this initiative is its emphasis on direct engagement rather than limiting welfare assistance to conventional administrative channels. The dedicated teams will interact with beneficiaries at the grassroots level, listen to their concerns and help identify practical solutions through coordination with the relevant departments. This approach is expected to improve communication, responsiveness and accessibility for veterans living in different parts of Rajasthan.
The initiative also highlights the importance of maintaining a strong relationship between serving formations and retired personnel. Veterans remain an important source of institutional knowledge, military experience and inspiration for younger generations of soldiers. Their contribution to the nation’s security does not lose its significance with retirement, and their welfare remains an essential responsibility of the military establishment.
For Gandiv Division, the Golden Jubilee initiative therefore carries a message that goes beyond ceremonial celebrations. It reflects the principle that the bond between a soldier and the Army is lifelong, and that the organisation continues to stand with its veterans and their families even after their years in uniform come to an end.
The Division has envisaged ‘Gandiv Hardik Milan 1.0’ as an annual endeavour, indicating that the campaign is intended to become a sustained mechanism of engagement with the veteran community rather than a one-time welfare activity. If continued as planned, the initiative will provide an opportunity to regularly assess emerging requirements, follow up on unresolved grievances and strengthen coordination between veterans and the concerned authorities.
The campaign also reinforces the larger Indian Army philosophy of recognising the service and sacrifices of its personnel while extending institutional support to their families. For veterans who served in challenging operational environments and for Veer Naris who have endured the loss of their loved ones in service to the nation, timely assistance and continued engagement carry immense significance.
As the four outreach teams begin their activities across Rajasthan, ‘Gandiv Hardik Milan 1.0’ stands as a meaningful expression of the Division’s Golden Jubilee commitment — celebrating five decades of military service while strengthening its responsibility towards those who have served the nation.
The underlying message of the initiative is clear: the relationship between the Indian Army and its soldiers does not end with retirement. The respect, responsibility and commitment towards the veteran community remain enduring pillars of the military institution.
