Gangashahar Government College Commemorates ‘Dharti Aaba’ Birsa Munda — Students Reflect on His Legacy of Tribal Pride, Self-Reliance, and Nation-Building

The Government College, Gangashahar (Bikaner), observed the 150th birth anniversary of the great tribal freedom fighter ‘Dharti Aaba’ Birsa Munda as Jan Jatiya Gaurav Diwas (Tribal Pride Day), in accordance with the directives of the Commissionerate of College Education, Rajasthan, Jaipur. The event was marked by a profound spirit of cultural pride and academic reflection, honouring the life, vision, and sacrifice of the revered tribal icon who ignited the consciousness of India’s indigenous communities.
The celebrations included speech, essay, and painting competitions centred on Birsa Munda’s contribution to the upliftment of tribal society and his struggle against colonial and social oppression. The college campus resonated with discussions and creative expressions celebrating his ideals of equality, justice, and self-reliance.
Students Celebrate the Spirit of Self-Reliance and ‘Viksit Bharat @2047’
As part of the event, two major essay competitions were organised following state government guidelines.
The first essay competition focused on the theme ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat and Swadeshi’, where 14 students participated. The winners were Rukmani Sharma and Asha Bishnoi, who jointly secured the first position, followed by Chanchal Sharma, who achieved the second position.
The second essay competition, based on the futuristic theme ‘Viksit Bharat @2047’, saw nine participants enthusiastically present their vision of a developed India. Narendra Singh, Tanisha Devra, and Chanchal Bhati claimed the first, second, and third prizes respectively, showcasing their aspirations for India’s progress towards 2047 — a nation that balances tradition with innovation.
Birsa Munda’s Legacy Resonates Through Words and Art
In the speech competition on the topic ‘Birsa Munda’s Contribution to the Tribal Society’, five students shared their heartfelt perspectives on his life and movement. Asha Bishnoi secured the first position for her compelling articulation of Birsa’s revolutionary leadership and his efforts in uniting the tribal population under the banner of resistance and reform.
The painting competition on ‘Tribal Life and Heritage’ allowed students to express tribal identity through art. Out of three participants, Chanchal Sharma won first place for her creative depiction of tribal life inspired by the teachings and struggles of Birsa Munda.
Principal’s Address — Remembering a Visionary Leader
The college principal, Prof. Babita Jain, delivered an insightful address highlighting the life, character, and socio-political significance of Birsa Munda. She spoke about his vision for an equitable tribal society, his confrontation with the injustices of British rule, and his role in shaping India’s tribal consciousness.
She emphasized that Birsa’s message of self-reliance, dignity, and resistance continues to inspire generations and aligns perfectly with the national vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’.
The competitions were evaluated by Mr. Mohit Sharma and Dr. Samiksha Vyas, who appreciated the depth and originality displayed by the students in expressing their understanding of Birsa’s philosophy and the values he stood for.
A Day of Reflection, Pride, and Cultural Awakening
The celebration at Government College Gangashahar stood as a reminder of the importance of preserving India’s tribal heritage while steering towards a self-reliant, inclusive future. Students were deeply moved by Birsa Munda’s sacrifice, his leadership in the Ulgulan (Great Tumult) movement, and his unwavering stand for justice and identity.
Through speeches, essays, and artwork, they not only paid tribute to the legendary figure but also reaffirmed their commitment to his ideals of freedom, equality, and empowerment of marginalized communities.

राजकीय महाविद्यालय गंगाशहर, बीकानेर में आयुक्तालय कॉलेज शिक्षा, राजस्थान, जयपुर के निर्देशानुसार भगवान बिरसा मुंडा की 150वीं जयंती को जनजातीय गौरव दिवस के रूप में अत्यंत उत्साह और श्रद्धा के साथ मनाया गया। यह आयोजन न केवल एक स्मरण था, बल्कि एक चिंतन भी — उस महान जननायक के जीवन, संघर्ष और उनके जनजातीय समाज के उत्थान में किए गए अमूल्य योगदान पर।
महाविद्यालय में इस अवसर पर भाषण, निबंध तथा चित्रकला प्रतियोगिताओं का आयोजन किया गया, जिनमें विद्यार्थियों ने जनजातीय समाज, आत्मनिर्भरता, और स्वदेशी सोच पर अपने विचार प्रस्तुत किए।
आत्मनिर्भर भारत और विकसित भारत @2047 पर युवाओं की कलम बोली
राज्य सरकार के निर्देशानुसार दो प्रमुख निबंध प्रतियोगिताएं आयोजित की गईं।
पहली निबंध प्रतियोगिता ‘आत्मनिर्भर भारत एवं स्वदेशी’ विषय पर आयोजित हुई, जिसमें 14 विद्यार्थियों ने भाग लिया। रुक्मणी शर्मा और आशा बिश्नोई ने संयुक्त रूप से प्रथम स्थान प्राप्त किया, जबकि चंचल शर्मा द्वितीय स्थान पर रहीं।
दूसरी निबंध प्रतियोगिता ‘विकसित भारत @2047’ विषय पर आयोजित हुई जिसमें 9 विद्यार्थियों ने भाग लिया। नरेंद्र सिंह, तनीषा देवड़ा एवं चंचल भाटी ने क्रमशः प्रथम, द्वितीय एवं तृतीय स्थान प्राप्त किया। इन प्रतियोगिताओं ने छात्रों में राष्ट्र निर्माण की भावना और भविष्य के भारत की परिकल्पना को सशक्त किया।
बिरसा मुंडा के योगदान पर हुआ विचार विमर्श
‘बिरसा मुंडा के जनजातीय समाज में योगदान’ विषय पर आयोजित भाषण प्रतियोगिता में 5 विद्यार्थियों ने भाग लिया, जिसमें आशा बिश्नोई ने उत्कृष्ट प्रस्तुति देकर प्रथम स्थान प्राप्त किया। उन्होंने बिरसा मुंडा के आंदोलन, उनके संघर्ष और जनजागरण के प्रयासों को विस्तार से प्रस्तुत किया।
इसी प्रकार ‘जनजातीय समाज में चित्रकारी’ विषय पर आयोजित चित्रकला प्रतियोगिता में 3 विद्यार्थियों ने भाग लिया, जिसमें चंचल शर्मा ने प्रथम स्थान हासिल किया। उनकी चित्रकला ने जनजातीय जीवन, प्रकृति और आत्मसम्मान की भावना को सजीव रूप में दर्शाया।
प्राचार्य का उद्बोधन — धरती आबा के व्यक्तित्व से सीखने की प्रेरणा
महाविद्यालय की प्राचार्य प्रो. बबिता जैन ने बिरसा मुंडा के जीवन, व्यक्तित्व एवं उनके सामाजिक दर्शन पर प्रकाश डालते हुए कहा कि बिरसा मुंडा न केवल एक क्रांतिकारी नेता थे, बल्कि वे भारत के आदिवासी समाज की चेतना के प्रतीक भी थे। उन्होंने अन्याय और शोषण के विरुद्ध एक नई जागृति पैदा की और आत्मनिर्भरता के महत्व को रेखांकित किया।
कार्यक्रम के निर्णायक श्री मोहित शर्मा और डॉ. समीक्षा व्यास ने सभी प्रतिभागियों की प्रस्तुतियों की सराहना की और कहा कि विद्यार्थियों ने बिरसा मुंडा की विचारधारा को गहराई से आत्मसात किया है।
जनजातीय चेतना, आत्मसम्मान और राष्ट्र गौरव का प्रतीक दिवस
जनजातीय गौरव दिवस के इस आयोजन ने विद्यार्थियों को भारत की आदिवासी विरासत, आत्मनिर्भरता और सामाजिक समरसता के मूल्यों से जोड़ने का कार्य किया। विद्यार्थियों ने अपने विचारों, लेखनी और कला के माध्यम से यह संदेश दिया कि बिरसा मुंडा आज भी भारत के विकास, समानता और आत्मसम्मान के प्रतीक बने हुए हैं।
