इस वर्ष के अभ्यास का सबसे चुनौतीपूर्ण और अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण हिस्सा सेमी-माउंटेनस (अर्ध-पहाड़ी) भू-भाग में आतंकवाद-रोधी अभियानों का अभ्यास है। ऐसे इलाके में दुश्मन को छुपने के अनगिनत अवसर मिलते हैं, रास्ते संकरे होते हैं, दृश्यता कम होती है और ऑपरेशन का हर सेकंड जोखिम भरा होता है। सैनिक यहाँ गुफाओं की तलाशी, पहाड़ी ढलानों पर साइलेंट मूवमेंट, रात में छिपी हुई घुसपैठ, ऊँचाई पर लक्ष्य साधने, जंगल में रोकथाम गश्त, और अचानक हो रहे हमलों का मुकाबला करना सीखते हैं। यह अभ्यास उनकी क्षमता को इस तरह मजबूत करता है कि वे किसी भी इलाके—चाहे वह उत्तर-पूर्व की पहाड़ियाँ हों या अंतरराष्ट्रीय अभियानों का दुर्गम भू-भाग—में सफलतापूर्वक ऑपरेशन कर सकें।
