General Upendra Dwivedi Inaugurates Advanced 3 Tesla MRI Facility at Army Hospital Research and Referral
COAS honours organ donor families and awards renowned transplant surgeon Dr Subhash Gupta for contributions to Armed Forces organ transplant programme.
General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), inaugurated a state-of-the-art 3 Tesla MRI facility at Army Hospital Research and Referral, significantly enhancing advanced diagnostic capabilities for Armed Forces medical services.
The new facility will strengthen specialised diagnostics in neurology, oncology, cardiology, musculoskeletal imaging, and trauma care, improving the quality of healthcare support available to serving personnel, veterans, and their families.
During the event, the COAS paid heartfelt tributes to the families of organ donors, acknowledging their selfless decision to donate organs during moments of personal grief and thereby giving patients a renewed chance at life.
On the occasion, renowned Hepato-biliary and Liver Transplant surgeon Dr Subhash Gupta was awarded the COAS Commendation Card for his significant contribution to the success of the organ transplant programme within the Armed Forces medical system.
Emphasising the ethos of “Seva Parmo Dharma,” General Dwivedi encouraged Armed Forces personnel, veterans, and civilians to pledge for organ donation and support life-saving healthcare initiatives.
The COAS also appreciated the efforts of the Armed Forces Organ Retrieval and Transplant Authority (AORTA) for promoting organ donation awareness and strengthening transplant-related healthcare services across the Armed Forces.
Officials stated that the inauguration reflects the continued modernisation of military healthcare infrastructure and the Armed Forces’ commitment to providing world-class medical care through advanced technology and humanitarian initiatives.
