ICG Mobilises 26,000+ Volunteers for International Coastal Cleanup Day 2025, Reinforcing India’s Commitment to Marine Conservation

In a remarkable demonstration of collective responsibility and civic participation, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) led the nationwide observance of International Coastal Cleanup Day 2025 (ICC-2025) on September 20, mobilising more than 26,000 volunteers across the length and breadth of India’s vast coastline. The massive effort, synchronised with the Prime Minister’s flagship initiative Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and his clarion call of “Swachhta Hi Seva”, transformed beaches and coastal stretches into sites of community-driven environmental action.

प्रधानमंत्री के “स्वच्छता ही सेवा” के आह्वान और स्वच्छ भारत अभियान की भावना को आगे बढ़ाते हुए भारतीय तटरक्षक बल (ICG) ने 20 सितम्बर को पूरे देश में अंतर्राष्ट्रीय तटीय सफाई दिवस 2025 (ICC-2025) का आयोजन किया। इस ऐतिहासिक अवसर पर देशभर में 26,000 से अधिक स्वयंसेवकों ने भाग लिया और भारत की 11,000 किमी लंबी तटीय रेखा पर फैले समुद्र तटों को स्वच्छ बनाने में अपना योगदान दिया।
गुजरात के मंडवी तट से लेकर पश्चिम बंगाल के सुंदरबन डेल्टा तक, महाराष्ट्र के व्यस्त समुद्रतटों से लेकर अंडमान-निकोबार और लक्षद्वीप के स्वच्छ द्वीपों तक हर जगह छात्र, एनसीसी कैडेट्स, एनएसएस सदस्य, मछुआरे और स्थानीय नागरिक ICG के साथ खड़े दिखे। सभी ने मिलकर समुद्री मलबे, प्लास्टिक और अन्य कचरे को हटाकर यह साबित किया कि सामूहिक भागीदारी से पर्यावरण संरक्षण की दिशा में बड़ा बदलाव लाया जा सकता है।
वैश्विक पहल में भारत की भूमिका
अंतर्राष्ट्रीय तटीय सफाई दिवस हर वर्ष सितंबर के तीसरे शनिवार को संयुक्त राष्ट्र पर्यावरण कार्यक्रम (UNEP) और साउथ एशिया को-ऑपरेटिव एनवायरनमेंट प्रोग्राम (SACEP) के तहत मनाया जाता है। 1986 में शुरू हुई यह पहल आज विश्व के 100 से अधिक देशों में पर्यावरण आंदोलन का स्वरूप ले चुकी है।
