INDIAN ARMY REPAIRS DAMAGED FOOTBRIDGE AND RESTORE
CONNECTIVITY IN MANIPUR

Kohima, Nagaland

In a swift response, the Indian Army restored connectivity by successfully repairing an important footbridge over Kangvai Nala in Kangvai village of Bishnupur district in Manipur. The bridge was washed away due to indiscriminate rains during Cyclone Remal on the night of 27 May 2024. The bridge served as a vital link for the villagers, connecting them to their farming fields and its loss had left the villagers stranded as they were unable to access their fields, crucial for their livelihood.

On request from locals seeking urgent assistance in repairing the bridge, the Indian Army deployed a team to carry out the immediate repairs and restoration. Despite the high flow of water in the Nala, the dedicated efforts of the Army personnel ensured the restoration of the bridge within a few hours. The village youth joined hands in assisting in the repair work, showcasing the community spirit and the strong bond between the villagers and the Army.

The villagers of Kangvai expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Indian Army for their timely and effective intervention in assisting with the call of duty.
