INDIAN COAST GUARD COMMISSIONS FAST PATROL VESSEL ‘AMULYA’, STRENGTHENING MARITIME SECURITY AND ATMANIRBHAR DEFENCE CAPABILITIES

A Significant Addition to the Indian Coast Guard Fleet
In a major boost to India’s coastal and maritime security architecture, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) commissioned ICG Ship Amulya, a next-generation Fast Patrol Vessel (FPV), into its operational fleet at Goa. The commissioning ceremony marked the induction of the third vessel of the indigenously built Adamya-class FPVs, reflecting India’s growing self-reliance in defence shipbuilding and maritime capability development.
The ceremony was held in the august presence of Shri Amitabh Prasad, Joint Secretary (IC/AP), Ceremonial & CA, Ministry of Defence, alongside Inspector General Jyotindra Singh, TM, Deputy Director General (HRD). Senior dignitaries from the Central and State Governments and representatives from Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) were also present, underscoring the importance of the occasion for India’s maritime security ecosystem.
‘Amulya’: A Symbol of Commitment to Safe and Secure Seas
Named ‘Amulya’, meaning “priceless”, the vessel embodies the Indian Coast Guard’s unwavering resolve to ensure safe, secure, and clean seas in India’s maritime zones. The name reflects not just the strategic value of the platform, but also the priceless role the Coast Guard plays in protecting national maritime interests, coastal communities, and critical sea lanes.
As India’s maritime responsibilities expand across the Indian Ocean Region, vessels like Amulya serve as frontline assets capable of responding swiftly to both conventional and non-conventional threats at sea.
Indigenous Design and Atmanirbhar Bharat in Action
Designed and constructed by M/s Goa Shipyard Limited, the 51-metre-long Fast Patrol Vessel represents a new benchmark in indigenous shipbuilding. With over 60 percent indigenous content, Amulya stands as a clear demonstration of the Government of India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives translating into tangible operational capabilities.
The vessel reflects close synergy between the Indian Coast Guard’s operational vision and India’s defence manufacturing ecosystem, showcasing how indigenous industry is now capable of delivering technologically advanced, mission-ready platforms.
Advanced Engineering and High-Speed Operational Capability
ICGS Amulya is powered by two advanced 3000 KW diesel engines, enabling the vessel to achieve a maximum speed of 27 knots. With an impressive operational endurance of 1,500 nautical miles, the ship is capable of sustained deployments across India’s vast maritime domain.
The FPV is equipped with indigenously developed Controllable Pitch Propellers and high-precision gearboxes, providing exceptional manoeuvrability and operational flexibility. These features allow Amulya to perform effectively during high-speed interdiction, close-quarter manoeuvres, and prolonged surveillance missions in challenging sea conditions.
Combat Systems and Integrated Ship Technologies
In terms of firepower, Amulya is armed with a 30 mm CRN-91 naval gun and two 12.7 mm stabilized remote-controlled guns, supported by advanced target acquisition and fire-control systems. This armament suite equips the vessel to counter asymmetric threats, suspicious vessels, and hostile elements operating in India’s maritime zones.
The ship integrates state-of-the-art onboard systems, including an Integrated Bridge System, Integrated Machinery Control System, and an Automated Power Management System. Together, these technologies significantly enhance situational awareness, system reliability, crew efficiency, and overall mission effectiveness.
Strategic Deployment on India’s Eastern Seaboard
ICGS Amulya will be based at Paradip, Odisha, operating under the administrative and operational control of the Commander, Coast Guard Region (North East) through Commander, Coast Guard District Headquarters No. 7. Its deployment strengthens India’s maritime security posture along the eastern coastline, a region critical for trade, energy routes, and national security.
The vessel will undertake a wide spectrum of operational roles, including maritime surveillance, interdiction operations, search and rescue missions, anti-smuggling efforts, and marine pollution response, reinforcing the Indian Coast Guard’s role as the first responder in India’s maritime domain.
Crew, Command, and Operational Readiness
ICGS Amulya is commanded by Commandant (JG) Anupam Singh and is manned by a dedicated crew of 05 officers and 34 personnel. Designed for high operational tempo and rapid response, the ship is expected to play a crucial role in maintaining maritime law enforcement, humanitarian assistance, and disaster response readiness in the Bay of Bengal region.

The commissioning of ICGS Amulya marks another decisive step in the Indian Coast Guard’s ongoing fleet expansion and modernization drive. As India continues to face evolving maritime challenges ranging from smuggling and illegal fishing to maritime terrorism and environmental threats, platforms like Amulya significantly enhance operational readiness and coastal security resilience.

भारतीय तटरक्षक बल के बेड़े को मिली नई मजबूती
भारत की समुद्री सुरक्षा क्षमताओं को और अधिक सशक्त बनाते हुए भारतीय तटरक्षक बल (Indian Coast Guard) ने आईसीजी शिप ‘अमूल्य’ को औपचारिक रूप से अपने बेड़े में शामिल कर लिया है। यह नया जहाज नई पीढ़ी के एडम्य क्लास फास्ट पेट्रोल वेसल (FPV) श्रृंखला का तीसरा पोत है, जिसे गोवा में भव्य समारोह के बीच कमीशन किया गया। इस अवसर पर रक्षा मंत्रालय के संयुक्त सचिव (IC/AP) अमिताभ प्रसाद, तटरक्षक बल के इंस्पेक्टर जनरल ज्योतिंद्र सिंह (TM) सहित केंद्र और राज्य सरकार के वरिष्ठ अधिकारी तथा गोवा शिपयार्ड लिमिटेड के प्रतिनिधि उपस्थित रहे।
‘अमूल्य’: नाम में ही छिपा है मिशन
‘अमूल्य’ नाम का अर्थ है अनमोल, और यह नाम भारतीय तटरक्षक बल के उस संकल्प को दर्शाता है, जिसके तहत वह राष्ट्र के समुद्री हितों की रक्षा के लिए सुरक्षित, संरक्षित और स्वच्छ समुद्र सुनिश्चित करने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध है। यह जहाज केवल एक सैन्य प्लेटफॉर्म नहीं, बल्कि भारत की समुद्री संप्रभुता और तटीय सुरक्षा की अमूल्य कड़ी है।
आत्मनिर्भर भारत और मेक इन इंडिया की सशक्त मिसाल
51 मीटर लंबे इस फास्ट पेट्रोल वेसल को पूरी तरह से भारत में गोवा शिपयार्ड लिमिटेड द्वारा डिजाइन और निर्मित किया गया है। इसमें 60 प्रतिशत से अधिक स्वदेशी उपकरणों और प्रणालियों का उपयोग किया गया है, जो भारत के रक्षा क्षेत्र में आत्मनिर्भरता की दिशा में लगातार हो रही प्रगति को दर्शाता है। यह जहाज भारतीय तटरक्षक बल की ऑपरेशनल आवश्यकताओं और सरकार की आत्मनिर्भर भारत एवं मेक इन इंडिया पहल के बीच उत्कृष्ट समन्वय का प्रतीक है।
शक्ति, गति और सहनशक्ति का अनूठा संगम
आईसीजीएस अमूल्य को दो अत्याधुनिक 3000 किलोवाट डीजल इंजनों से शक्ति मिलती है, जिससे यह जहाज 27 नॉट्स की अधिकतम गति प्राप्त कर सकता है। इसकी 1500 नॉटिकल माइल्स की ऑपरेशनल रेंज इसे भारत के विशाल समुद्री क्षेत्र में लंबे समय तक मिशन पर तैनात रहने में सक्षम बनाती है।
इसमें लगे स्वदेशी कंट्रोल्ड पिच प्रोपेलर्स और हाई-प्रिसिजन गियरबॉक्स जहाज को बेहतरीन संचालन क्षमता, तेज प्रतिक्रिया और कठिन समुद्री परिस्थितियों में भी उत्कृष्ट प्रदर्शन प्रदान करते हैं।
आधुनिक हथियार और अत्याधुनिक तकनीक से लैस
आईसीजीएस अमूल्य को 30 मिमी CRN-91 गन और दो 12.7 मिमी स्टेबलाइज्ड रिमोट कंट्रोल्ड गन से सुसज्जित किया गया है, जो उन्नत टारगेट एक्विजिशन और फायर कंट्रोल सिस्टम से जुड़ी हैं। यह हथियार प्रणाली जहाज को समुद्री तस्करी, संदिग्ध नौकाओं और असममित खतरों से प्रभावी ढंग से निपटने में सक्षम बनाती है।
इसके अलावा, जहाज में इंटीग्रेटेड ब्रिज सिस्टम, इंटीग्रेटेड मशीनरी कंट्रोल सिस्टम और ऑटोमेटेड पावर मैनेजमेंट सिस्टम जैसी आधुनिक प्रणालियां स्थापित हैं, जो स्थितिजन्य जागरूकता, परिचालन दक्षता और प्रणाली की विश्वसनीयता को कई गुना बढ़ा देती हैं।
पूर्वी तट पर रणनीतिक तैनाती
आईसीजीएस अमूल्य को ओडिशा के पारादीप में तैनात किया जाएगा, जहां से यह कोस्ट गार्ड रीजन (नॉर्थ ईस्ट) के अंतर्गत कार्य करेगा। यह जहाज भारत के पूर्वी समुद्री तट की सुरक्षा में अहम भूमिका निभाएगा, जो व्यापार, ऊर्जा आपूर्ति मार्गों और रणनीतिक दृष्टि से अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण क्षेत्र है।
अमूल्य निगरानी, इंटरडिक्शन, सर्च एंड रेस्क्यू (SAR), तस्करी विरोधी अभियान और समुद्री प्रदूषण प्रतिक्रिया जैसे विविध मिशनों को अंजाम देगा।
सक्षम कमान और प्रशिक्षित क्रू
इस जहाज की कमान कमांडेंट (JG) अनुपम सिंह के हाथों में है। इसमें 05 अधिकारी और 34 नाविकों का प्रशिक्षित दल तैनात है, जो हर परिस्थिति में त्वरित और प्रभावी कार्रवाई के लिए तैयार रहेगा।
समुद्री सुरक्षा के भविष्य की ओर मजबूत कदम
आईसीजीएस अमूल्य का कमीशन होना भारतीय तटरक्षक बल के निरंतर विस्तार और आधुनिकीकरण की दिशा में एक और महत्वपूर्ण मील का पत्थर है। यह पोत न केवल तटीय सुरक्षा को मजबूती देगा, बल्कि भारत की समुद्री तैयारियों और आत्मनिर्भर रक्षा क्षमताओं को भी नई ऊंचाइयों पर ले जाएगा।
