As relentless monsoon rains submerged roads, villages, industrial zones and riverbanks, the Coast Guard launched extensive Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) and Search and Rescue (SAR) operations in close coordination with the local civil administration. Battling torrential rainfall, fast-flowing floodwaters and extremely hazardous conditions, Coast Guard Disaster Relief Teams (DRTs) and helicopters rescued 170 stranded civilians through 11 major rescue operations conducted since the midnight of 22 July 2026. Continuous downpours caused rivers to overflow, roads disappeared beneath floodwaters, communication networks became severely disrupted and thousands of residents found themselves trapped in homes, industrial complexes and isolated villages. Several areas became completely inaccessible by road, making conventional rescue operations nearly impossible. Under these circumstances, the Indian Coast Guard emerged as one of the first responders, deploying specialized disaster response teams equipped to operate in flooded terrain while simultaneously launching helicopter missions to rescue people cut off from the outside world.

The first major rescue mission commenced during the night of 22–23 July, when five stranded individuals were successfully rescued from Khanvel in Silvassa after floodwaters surrounded the locality. Soon afterwards, another operation was launched along the flooded riverbank at the Kadaiya Coastal Area, where three fishermen had become trapped due to rapidly rising water levels. Despite darkness and dangerous river currents, Coast Guard teams successfully evacuated all fishermen without injury, setting the pace for a series of intensive rescue missions that continued over the following days.
Welspun Industrial Area Witnessed One of the Largest Rescue Missions
Among the most challenging operations was the evacuation of 60 people trapped inside the flood-affected Welspun Industrial Area. Rising floodwaters had completely cut off road connectivity, leaving workers stranded with no safe escape route. Coast Guard Disaster Relief Teams entered the inundated industrial complex using specialized rescue equipment and systematically evacuated every stranded individual. The operation required exceptional coordination, careful navigation through flooded infrastructure and constant communication with local authorities, ultimately ensuring that every person reached safety.
Multiple Rescue Missions Conducted Simultaneously Across Flood Zones
As the flood situation intensified, Coast Guard teams conducted multiple rescue operations at different locations simultaneously. Seven passengers trapped inside a bus near Aero Fibre Pvt. Ltd. were rescued after floodwaters surrounded the vehicle. Ten additional people stranded in Dongri were evacuated safely, while Coast Guard helicopters airlifted four individuals from the Valsad-Pardi region where road access had been completely disrupted. Another overnight mission successfully rescued eight people stranded near the Reliance Industries area, further demonstrating the Coast Guard’s ability to respond rapidly across multiple locations under difficult circumstances.
Medical Emergencies Received Immediate Priority
Several rescue missions involved critically vulnerable individuals requiring urgent medical attention. Coast Guard personnel rescued ten people from the Avadh Society area, including a woman who was nine months pregnant and another suffering from severe respiratory distress. Recognizing the medical urgency, rescue teams ensured rapid evacuation and immediate transportation for advanced medical care. Such missions required not only technical rescue expertise but also careful medical handling to ensure the safety of patients during evacuation through flooded terrain.

On 24 July, two Indian Coast Guard helicopters successfully airlifted 33 stranded residents from Mendar Village in Navsari district. Among those rescued was an individual suffering from severe chest pain requiring immediate medical intervention. The helicopters enabled swift evacuation from inaccessible locations and significantly reduced the time required to transport critically affected civilians to hospitals. These operations once again highlighted the strategic importance of aviation assets in disaster response.

भारी बारिश के बीच भारतीय तटरक्षक बल बना हजारों लोगों के लिए उम्मीद की सबसे बड़ी किरण
दमन, दादरा एवं नगर हवेली तथा दक्षिण गुजरात में लगातार हो रही मूसलाधार बारिश ने सामान्य जनजीवन को पूरी तरह अस्त-व्यस्त कर दिया। नदियां उफान पर आ गईं, सड़कें जलमग्न हो गईं, औद्योगिक क्षेत्र पानी में डूब गए और कई गांवों का संपर्क पूरी तरह टूट गया। ऐसे बेहद कठिन हालात में भारतीय तटरक्षक बल (Indian Coast Guard) ने मानवता की रक्षा के अपने दायित्व का परिचय देते हुए व्यापक मानवीय सहायता एवं आपदा राहत (HADR) तथा सर्च एंड रेस्क्यू (SAR) अभियान शुरू किया। स्थानीय प्रशासन के साथ समन्वय स्थापित करते हुए तटरक्षक बल की डिजास्टर रिलीफ टीमें और हेलीकॉप्टर लगातार अभियान चलाते रहे और 22 जुलाई 2026 की मध्यरात्रि से शुरू हुए 11 बड़े अभियानों में कुल 170 लोगों की सुरक्षित जान बचाई।
प्राकृतिक आपदा ने कई जिलों को संकट के केंद्र में बदल दिया
लगातार बारिश के कारण पूरे क्षेत्र में बाढ़ जैसी भयावह स्थिति उत्पन्न हो गई। गांवों और शहरों के बीच संपर्क मार्ग टूट गए, कई औद्योगिक इकाइयां पानी में घिर गईं, हजारों लोग अपने घरों और कार्यस्थलों पर फंस गए तथा अनेक क्षेत्रों तक सड़क मार्ग से पहुंचना पूरी तरह असंभव हो गया। ऐसे समय में भारतीय तटरक्षक बल ने तेज़ी से कार्रवाई करते हुए राहत एवं बचाव अभियान शुरू किया। प्रशिक्षित डिजास्टर रिलीफ टीमों ने कमर तक पानी में उतरकर, तेज़ बहाव का सामना करते हुए तथा जोखिम भरे इलाकों में पहुंचकर लोगों को सुरक्षित निकाला।
दिन-रात बिना रुके चलता रहा राहत एवं बचाव अभियान
भारतीय तटरक्षक बल के जवानों ने मौसम की कठिन परिस्थितियों की परवाह किए बिना लगातार चौबीसों घंटे अभियान चलाया। तेज़ बहते पानी, लगातार बारिश, सीमित दृश्यता और जानलेवा परिस्थितियों के बावजूद किसी भी टीम ने अपने अभियान को नहीं रोका। जहां सड़कें समाप्त हो गईं वहां जवान पैदल पहुंचे, जहां नावें ही एकमात्र विकल्प थीं वहां नावों का उपयोग किया गया और जहां दोनों संभव नहीं थे वहां हेलीकॉप्टरों ने आसमान से लोगों को सुरक्षित बाहर निकाला। यह अभियान केवल तकनीकी दक्षता का नहीं बल्कि साहस, धैर्य और राष्ट्रसेवा की भावना का भी अद्भुत उदाहरण बन गया।
रात के अंधेरे से शुरू हुआ पहला बचाव अभियान
22 और 23 जुलाई की मध्यरात्रि के दौरान पहला बड़ा अभियान सिलवासा के खानवेल क्षेत्र में शुरू हुआ जहां पांच लोग बाढ़ के पानी से चारों ओर से घिर गए थे। तटरक्षक बल की टीम ने जोखिम उठाते हुए सभी को सुरक्षित बाहर निकाला। इसके बाद कडैया तटीय क्षेत्र में नदी किनारे फंसे तीन मछुआरों को भी सफलतापूर्वक बचाया गया। अंधेरे, तेज़ बहाव और लगातार बारिश के बीच इन शुरुआती अभियानों ने पूरे राहत अभियान की मजबूत नींव रखी।
वेलस्पन औद्योगिक क्षेत्र में चला सबसे बड़ा रेस्क्यू ऑपरेशन
सबसे बड़ी और चुनौतीपूर्ण कार्रवाई वेलस्पन इंडस्ट्रियल एरिया में की गई, जहां बाढ़ के कारण सड़क संपर्क पूरी तरह समाप्त हो चुका था और लगभग 60 लोग अंदर फंस गए थे। तटरक्षक बल की डिजास्टर रिलीफ टीमों ने पानी से भरे औद्योगिक परिसर में प्रवेश कर एक-एक व्यक्ति को सुरक्षित बाहर निकाला। यह अभियान अत्यंत जटिल था क्योंकि पूरे क्षेत्र में पानी का स्तर लगातार बढ़ रहा था और सुरक्षित निकासी का कोई सामान्य रास्ता उपलब्ध नहीं था। फिर भी सभी 60 लोगों को सकुशल सुरक्षित स्थान पर पहुंचाया गया।
एक साथ कई स्थानों पर जारी रहे बचाव अभियान
बाढ़ की गंभीरता को देखते हुए भारतीय तटरक्षक बल ने अलग-अलग स्थानों पर एक साथ कई अभियान संचालित किए। एयरो फाइबर प्राइवेट लिमिटेड के निकट बाढ़ में फंसी बस से सात लोगों को सुरक्षित निकाला गया। डोंगरी क्षेत्र से दस लोगों को बचाया गया। वलसाड-पारडी क्षेत्र में सड़क संपर्क टूट जाने के कारण चार लोगों को हेलीकॉप्टर के माध्यम से एयरलिफ्ट किया गया। वहीं रिलायंस इंडस्ट्रीज क्षेत्र में फंसे आठ लोगों को रातभर चले अभियान के दौरान सुरक्षित निकाला गया।
गर्भवती महिला और गंभीर मरीजों को दी गई सर्वोच्च प्राथमिकता
आवध सोसायटी क्षेत्र में फंसे दस लोगों के बचाव अभियान के दौरान एक नौ माह की गर्भवती महिला तथा सांस लेने में गंभीर तकलीफ से जूझ रही एक महिला को प्राथमिकता के आधार पर सुरक्षित निकाला गया। बचाव दल ने चिकित्सा सहायता सुनिश्चित करते हुए उन्हें शीघ्र अस्पताल पहुंचाया। इस प्रकार के अभियान यह दर्शाते हैं कि भारतीय तटरक्षक बल केवल लोगों को सुरक्षित निकालने तक सीमित नहीं रहा बल्कि प्रत्येक व्यक्ति की चिकित्सकीय आवश्यकता को भी समान महत्व दिया।
हेलीकॉप्टरों ने निभाई निर्णायक भूमिका
24 जुलाई को भारतीय तटरक्षक बल के दो हेलीकॉप्टरों ने नवसारी जिले के मेंदर गांव से 33 लोगों को एयरलिफ्ट किया। इनमें एक ऐसा व्यक्ति भी शामिल था जिसे सीने में तेज़ दर्द की शिकायत थी और जिसे तत्काल चिकित्सा सहायता की आवश्यकता थी। हेलीकॉप्टरों की सहायता से उन इलाकों तक पहुंचना संभव हुआ जहां सड़क या नाव से पहुंचना लगभग असंभव था। यह अभियान आधुनिक हवाई राहत क्षमता की उपयोगिता का उत्कृष्ट उदाहरण बन गया।
स्थानीय प्रशासन और तटरक्षक बल के बीच शानदार समन्वय
पूरे अभियान की सफलता का सबसे बड़ा आधार भारतीय तटरक्षक बल, जिला प्रशासन, पुलिस, आपदा प्रबंधन प्राधिकरण और स्वास्थ्य विभाग के बीच उत्कृष्ट समन्वय रहा। प्रत्येक सूचना का तुरंत विश्लेषण किया गया, सबसे अधिक प्रभावित क्षेत्रों को प्राथमिकता दी गई और उसी अनुसार राहत दलों तथा हेलीकॉप्टरों की तैनाती की गई। इस संयुक्त प्रयास ने अनेक संभावित त्रासदियों को टाल दिया और समय रहते सैकड़ों लोगों की जान बचाने में सफलता दिलाई।
भारतीय तटरक्षक बल की पेशेवर क्षमता का शानदार प्रदर्शन
यह अभियान भारतीय तटरक्षक बल की उच्च स्तरीय प्रशिक्षण व्यवस्था, अनुशासन, तकनीकी दक्षता और त्वरित प्रतिक्रिया क्षमता का उत्कृष्ट उदाहरण है। समुद्री सुरक्षा के साथ-साथ प्राकृतिक आपदाओं के दौरान राहत एवं बचाव कार्यों में भी तटरक्षक बल ने अपनी बहुआयामी भूमिका को एक बार फिर सिद्ध किया। कठिन मौसम, सीमित संसाधनों और लगातार बढ़ते जोखिम के बावजूद जवानों ने जिस समर्पण के साथ कार्य किया वह पूरे देश के लिए गर्व का विषय है।
राष्ट्रसेवा की भावना को किया फिर से साबित
भारतीय तटरक्षक बल ने इस अभियान के माध्यम से एक बार फिर यह संदेश दिया कि देश की सुरक्षा केवल सीमाओं तक सीमित नहीं है, बल्कि संकट में फंसे प्रत्येक नागरिक का जीवन बचाना भी उतना ही महत्वपूर्ण दायित्व है। बाढ़, चक्रवात, समुद्री दुर्घटनाएं अथवा अन्य प्राकृतिक आपदाएं—हर परिस्थिति में तटरक्षक बल अपनी जिम्मेदारी पूरी निष्ठा और समर्पण के साथ निभाता रहा है।
आगे भी जारी रहेगी पूरी तैयारी
हालांकि अब तक 170 लोगों को सुरक्षित बचाया जा चुका है, लेकिन मौसम विभाग की चेतावनियों और लगातार बारिश को देखते हुए भारतीय तटरक्षक बल ने अपनी सभी टीमें, हेलीकॉप्टर, नावें और राहत संसाधन पूरी तरह तैयार रखे हैं। किसी भी नई आपात स्थिति में तत्काल कार्रवाई के लिए बल उच्च स्तर की परिचालन तैयारी बनाए हुए है और स्थानीय प्रशासन को हर संभव सहायता प्रदान करता रहेगा।
