Kargil Hero Yogendra Singh Yadav Inspires Future Military Leaders at Junior Leaders Academy Bareilly
Param Vir Chakra awardee shares lessons on courage, leadership and resilience drawn from his experiences during the Kargil War.

The Junior Leaders Academy (JLA), Bareilly, hosted an inspiring and motivational session on 22 June 2026, delivered by Subedar Major (Honorary Captain) Yogendra Singh Yadav, Param Vir Chakra (Retd), one of India’s most decorated war heroes.
The interaction brought together Junior Leaders undergoing various courses at the academy, along with students from Kendriya Vidyalaya, providing them with a unique opportunity to learn from the experiences of a soldier whose bravery during the Kargil War became a defining chapter in India’s military history.

Drawing from his firsthand experiences on the battlefield, Honorary Captain Yogendra Singh Yadav highlighted the importance of courage under fire, unwavering professionalism, moral strength and the indomitable spirit that defines the Indian soldier.
During the session, he shared valuable insights into leadership under extreme adversity, emphasising the significance of determination, self-belief and mission-oriented execution in overcoming seemingly insurmountable challenges.
The Param Vir Chakra awardee underscored the values of selfless service, dedication to duty and commitment to the nation, inspiring the audience with stories of sacrifice, resilience and teamwork from the Kargil conflict.
Participants listened attentively as he recounted lessons learned from combat operations, stressing that true leadership is demonstrated through action, responsibility and the ability to motivate others even in the most difficult circumstances.

The session left a profound impact on the attending Junior Leaders and students, reinforcing the ethos of “Mission First” and highlighting the qualities required to lead effectively in challenging operational environments.
Officials noted that such interactions provide invaluable inspiration to future military leaders by connecting them with veterans whose actions exemplify the highest traditions of courage and service in the Indian Armed Forces.
The event also served as an opportunity to instil values of patriotism, discipline and perseverance among the younger generation while strengthening their understanding of the sacrifices made by India’s soldiers in defence of the nation.

The programme concluded with participants expressing gratitude for the opportunity to interact with one of the nation’s most revered war heroes, whose life and service continue to inspire generations of Indians.
