Land Dispute Sparks Daylight Gunfire and Violence in Bikaner’s Rampura Basti: Pistols, Swords, and Stone-Pelting Terrify Locals

A disturbing outbreak of violence unfolded in the Rampura Basti area of Bikaner on Monday afternoon, where a long-standing land dispute escalated into open gunfire, sword attacks, and large-scale stone-pelting between two rival groups. The clash not only left the community in shock but also led to mutual criminal complaints, police intervention, and an arrest.
According to the police, the incident occurred in Lane Number 9 of Rampura Basti, where Rinku alias Yogesh Kaushik owns a house and a vacant adjacent plot. The ownership and use of this land has been a matter of contention between him and another local, Rakesh Meena, originally from Jhunjhunu.
Violent Clashes Erupt in Broad Daylight
Eyewitnesses reported that the situation escalated dramatically on Monday when both groups came face-to-face in the neighborhood. Video footage from the incident, which quickly went viral on social media, shows several men from one side wielding swords and chasing their rivals through the streets, while another individual is seen firing a pistol from within a residential compound toward people gathered outside.
The violence didn’t stop there — both sides resorted to aggressive stone-pelting, hurling heavy bricks and stones at each other. The commotion lasted for several minutes, creating panic in the otherwise quiet residential neighborhood. Fortunately, no serious injuries have been reported so far, but the intense nature of the fight has left residents terrified.
Police Confirm Pistol Firing, Arrest Made
City Circle Officer (CO City) Shravan Das Sant confirmed that a pistol was indeed used during the confrontation and that Rinku alias Yogesh Kaushik has been arrested for discharging the firearm. The weapon has also been seized by police for forensic analysis.
“We have filed cross FIRs from both parties, and further investigation is underway. Anyone found guilty, regardless of group affiliation, will be arrested,” said CO Shravan Das Sant.
Mutual FIRs Registered, Multiple Accusations Filed
Rinku Kaushik filed a complaint against Rakesh Meena, Mehboob Kayamkhani, Satyapal Jat, Abhishek Panwar, Ashish Gehlot, and others, accusing them of trespassing and launching a lethal assault. In retaliation, Rakesh Meena lodged an FIR against Rinku Kaushik, accusing him of an armed attack with intent to kill.
Both FIRs include charges related to attempted murder, unlawful assembly, possession of illegal arms, and disturbing the peace.
Police have deployed additional personnel in the area to maintain order and are reviewing CCTV and mobile footage for identifying other accused individuals.
Residents Fear Escalation of Violence
The incident has left Rampura residents deeply disturbed. “This level of open violence in a residential colony in broad daylight is terrifying. Children and elders were inside their homes, petrified. What if a stray bullet hit someone?” asked one local resident.
Community elders have now called upon the administration to take strict action and prevent the area from turning into a battleground for personal enmity and gang-like behavior.

बीकानेर की रामपुरा बस्ती सोमवार को एक बार फिर हिंसा की आग में झुलस गई, जब वर्षों से चल रहे जमीन विवाद ने खूनी रूप ले लिया। दो पक्ष आमने-सामने आ गए और इस दौरान पिस्टल से फायरिंग, तलवारों से दौड़ाकर हमला और भारी पथराव ने इलाके को दहला दिया। घटना के बाद दोनों पक्षों ने एक-दूसरे पर जानलेवा हमले के आरोप लगाते हुए मुकदमे दर्ज कराए हैं।
घटना रामपुरा बस्ती की गली नंबर 9 में हुई, जहां रिंकू उर्फ योगेश कौशिक का मकान और उसके पास एक खाली भूखंड स्थित है। इस भूखंड को लेकर झुंझुनूं निवासी राकेश मीणा के साथ लंबे समय से विवाद चल रहा है।
दिनदहाड़े फायरिंग और तलवारों से हमला
सोमवार को विवाद अचानक उग्र हो गया जब दोनों पक्ष आमने-सामने आ गए। वायरल वीडियो में देखा जा सकता है कि एक पक्ष के लोग तलवारें लहराते हुए दूसरे पक्ष के लोगों का पीछा कर रहे हैं। वहीं, एक युवक घर के अंदर से बाहर खड़े लोगों पर पिस्टल से फायर करता हुआ भी दिखाई दे रहा है।
इसके बाद दोनों पक्षों में भारी पथराव शुरू हो गया। कई मिनट तक एक-दूसरे पर ईंटें और पत्थर फेंके गए। गली में अफरा-तफरी मच गई। महिलाएं और बच्चे घरों में सहमे बैठे रहे।
पिस्टल बरामद, एक गिरफ्तार
सीओ सिटी श्रवणदास संत ने बताया कि पिस्टल से फायरिंग करने के आरोपी योगेश कौशिक को गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया है और उसके पास से हथियार भी जब्त कर लिया गया है। “घटना गंभीर है, और दोनों पक्षों के दोषियों के खिलाफ कठोर कार्रवाई की जाएगी,” उन्होंने कहा।
दोनों पक्षों ने एक-दूसरे पर दर्ज कराए मामले
रिंकू उर्फ योगेश कौशिक ने राकेश मीणा, महबूब कायमखानी, सत्यपाल जाट, अभिषेक पंवार, आशीष गहलोत सहित अन्य पर हमला करने, संपत्ति में घुसपैठ और जानलेवा हमला करने का आरोप लगाया है। वहीं, राकेश मीणा ने योगेश कौशिक के खिलाफ फायरिंग व हत्या के प्रयास की शिकायत दी है।
दोनों ओर से दर्ज एफआईआर में हत्या के प्रयास, गैरकानूनी हथियार रखने, शांति भंग करने और समूह में हिंसा फैलाने जैसी गंभीर धाराएं जोड़ी गई हैं। पुलिस अब सीसीटीवी और मोबाइल वीडियो की जांच कर रही है ताकि अन्य आरोपियों की पहचान कर उन्हें गिरफ्तार किया जा सके।
स्थानीय लोग बोले- ये कॉलोनी नहीं, रणभूमि बनती जा रही है
रामपुरा बस्ती के लोगों में भय और आक्रोश दोनों है। एक बुजुर्ग ने कहा, “दिनदहाड़े बंदूकें, तलवारें, ईंटें चल रही हैं। अगर किसी मासूम को गोली लग जाती तो? हम अब डर के साये में जी रहे हैं।”
स्थानीय समाजसेवियों और वरिष्ठ नागरिकों ने प्रशासन से मांग की है कि ऐसे मामलों में त्वरित और सख्त कार्रवाई की जाए, ताकि भविष्य में कोई भी गुट कानून को हाथ में लेने की हिम्मत न करे।
