Lt Col Isha Thakral Assumes Charge as Vice Principal of Sainik School Chittorgarh

Second-generation Army officer and former IMA PRO pledges to further strengthen academic excellence and holistic cadet development.

Lieutenant Colonel Isha Thakral has officially assumed charge as the Vice Principal of Sainik School Chittorgarh, ushering in a new chapter of academic and administrative leadership at one of India’s premier military preparatory institutions.

She was formally welcomed by Colonel Anil Dev Singh Jasrotia, Principal of Sainik School Chittorgarh, who briefed her on the school’s functioning, administrative structure, achievements and rich traditions.

According to school officials, Lt Col Thakral is an accomplished officer of the Army Educational Corps (AEC) with extensive experience in education, military leadership, administration and public relations.

A second-generation Army officer, Lt Col Thakral was commissioned into the Indian Army on September 16, 2006, after graduating from the prestigious Officers Training Academy Chennai (OTA), Chennai.

Academically, she holds a Master’s degree in English Literature from University of Jammu.

During her distinguished military career, Lt Col Thakral has served in several key appointments. Between 2008 and 2011, she served as the Public Relations Officer at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun, where she played an important role in institutional communications, media management and outreach activities while supporting the training environment for Gentleman Cadets.

She brings with her a wealth of experience in educational administration, military training and leadership development, making her well-suited for her new role at the Sainik School.

Upon assuming office, Lt Col Thakral outlined her vision for the institution, expressing her commitment to building upon the school’s strong academic and military traditions. She emphasised the importance of holistic cadet development and pledged to work towards further elevating Sainik School Chittorgarh’s standing as one of the country’s leading military educational institutions.

Officials noted that her appointment is expected to strengthen the school’s efforts in nurturing future leaders of the Armed Forces while maintaining the high standards of discipline, character-building and academic excellence for which Sainik Schools are renowned.

Her assumption of charge marks an important milestone in the continued growth and development of Sainik School Chittorgarh as it prepares the next generation of officers and national leaders.
