Lt Gen Akaash Johar Takes Over Rising Star Corps; Lt Gen Rajan Sharawat Hands Over Command After Distinguished Tenure Marked by Operational Excellence

The Indian Army witnessed an important leadership transition on 1 July 2026 as Lieutenant General Akaash Johar, AVSM, assumed command of the prestigious Rising Star Corps, taking over from Lieutenant General Rajan Sharawat, UYSM, AVSM, VSM. The seamless change of command marks the beginning of a new chapter for one of the Army’s premier operational formations, while also recognising the remarkable leadership and achievements of the outgoing Corps Commander.
Lieutenant General Rajan Sharawat relinquished command after a distinguished tenure characterised by operational excellence, exceptional leadership, unwavering focus on combat preparedness and deep commitment to troop welfare. During his command, the Rising Star Corps continued to strengthen its operational capabilities, enhance training standards, modernise combat preparedness and maintain the highest level of operational readiness.
One of the defining achievements of Lt Gen Sharawat’s tenure was the Corps’ significant contribution during Operation SINDOOR. The formation played a vital role in supporting operational objectives while demonstrating the Indian Army’s professionalism, coordination and readiness to respond to emerging security challenges. The Corps remained at a high state of preparedness throughout the operation, reflecting the effectiveness of its leadership, training and operational planning.
Beyond operational commitments, Lt Gen Sharawat placed considerable emphasis on troop welfare, leadership development, infrastructure improvement and capability enhancement. भारतीय सेना में 1 जुलाई 2026 को एक महत्वपूर्ण नेतृत्व परिवर्तन के तहत लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल आकाश जोहर, AVSM ने प्रतिष्ठित राइजिंग स्टार कोर की कमान आधिकारिक रूप से संभाल ली। उन्होंने यह जिम्मेदारी लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल राजन शरावत, UYSM, AVSM, VSM से ग्रहण की, जिन्होंने अपने सफल और गौरवपूर्ण कार्यकाल के बाद कमान सौंपी। यह परिवर्तन भारतीय सेना की मजबूत नेतृत्व परंपरा और निरंतर परिचालन उत्कृष्टता का प्रतीक माना जा रहा है।
