Lieutenant General Vijay B Nair assumed charge as Commandant of the Infantry School Mhow on May 1, 2026.

Commissioned into the 21 Punjab in June 1988, Lt Gen Nair has served for nearly four decades with extensive experience across command, staff and instructional roles.
He has commanded:
- A Brigade under the Desert Strike Corps
- Leh Sub Area
- Tiger Division in Jammu & Kashmir
- Vajra Corps in Punjab

- Multiple tenures along the Line of Control (LoC)
- Counter-terrorism operations in Jammu & Kashmir
