Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera Visits Zokhawsang Battalion in Mizoram
DG Assam Rifles reviews operational preparedness, inaugurates welfare facility and praises anti-narcotics efforts in Mizoram.

Lieutenant General Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, Director General of the Assam Rifles, visited the Zokhawsang Battalion in Mizoram on May 24, 2026, to review the operational preparedness and functioning of the unit.
During the visit, the Director General commended the battalion for its dedicated efforts in establishing the Zokhawsang garrison and appreciated the troops for their professionalism, commitment, and operational efficiency.

Lt Gen Lakhera also inaugurated the Vijender Singh Institute, a recreational facility developed for the welfare and well-being of troops. He encouraged personnel to fully utilise the infrastructure for recreation, bonding, and fostering camaraderie within the unit.
The Director General further appreciated the battalion’s achievements in anti-narcotics operations and recovery of war-like stores in Mizoram, highlighting the force’s important role in maintaining security and stability in the region.
Interacting with students and faculty members of the Bevela Lushai Centre, Lt Gen Lakhera described the institution as a beacon of hope for the youth of Mizoram and paid tribute to the courage and contribution of the Mizo people towards nation-building.

The visit underscored the continued focus of the Assam Rifles on operational readiness, troop welfare, community engagement, and coordinated efforts against illegal activities in the Northeast region.
