Lt Gen Vikas Rohella Presents Sapper Accoutrements to 59 IMA Cadets Ahead of Commissioning
Future officers of the Corps of Engineers honoured during a proud ceremony celebrating the traditions and legacy of the Sappers.
In a proud milestone ahead of the Indian Military Academy’s Spring Term 2026 Passing Out Parade, 59 Officer Cadets destined for the Corps of Engineers were honoured with Sapper Accoutrements during a ceremonial event conducted by the Golden Key Sappers.
The Accoutrement Ceremony was presided over by Lieutenant General Vikas Rohella, AVSM, SM, Engineer-in-Chief of the Indian Army, who presented the prestigious accoutrements to the Officer Cadets set to be commissioned into the Corps of Engineers on 13 June 2026.
The ceremony was attended by serving officers, distinguished veterans and members of the Corps, making it a memorable occasion for the future military engineers preparing to join one of the Indian Army’s most decorated arms.
The presentation of accoutrements symbolizes the formal induction of the cadets into the proud fraternity of the Sappers and serves as a reminder of the Corps’ rich legacy of courage, professionalism and technical excellence.
Addressing the cadets, Lt Gen Rohella encouraged them to uphold the highest traditions and values of the Corps of Engineers while embracing the responsibilities of military leadership in service of the nation.
The event marked an important step in the transition of the Officer Cadets from trainees to commissioned officers, as they prepare to take their place in the Corps that plays a critical role in combat engineering, infrastructure development, mobility support and military operations across diverse terrains.

The 59 cadets will be commissioned into the Indian Army during the Indian Military Academy’s Passing Out Parade on 13 June 2026, joining the ranks of the Corps of Engineers as the next generation of military leaders and combat engineers.
