The Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) strengthened its senior leadership on 1 July 2026 with Major General Mandeep Saini officially assuming charge as the Additional Director General Armed Forces Medical Services (Establishments & Services – E&S) at the Office of the Director General Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS). His appointment marks another important milestone in a military medical career spanning more than three decades, distinguished by clinical excellence, administrative leadership, and unwavering commitment to strengthening India’s military healthcare system.
An eminent radiologist and an accomplished alumnus of the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune, Major General Mandeep Saini brings with him decades of experience across clinical medicine, hospital administration, medical planning, and organizational leadership. Widely respected within the Armed Forces Medical Services, he has earned recognition for combining medical expertise with effective administrative capabilities throughout his professional journey.
Before assuming his new appointment, Major General Saini successfully served as Brigadier (Administration) at AFMC Pune, one of India’s premier military medical institutions responsible for training generations of doctors, specialists, nurses, and healthcare professionals serving the Army, Navy, and Air Force. During his tenure, he played an important role in strengthening institutional administration, improving operational efficiency, and supporting medical education and healthcare delivery.
Throughout his distinguished career of over thirty years, Major General Saini has held numerous important clinical and administrative appointments across the Armed Forces Medical Services. His experience spans patient care, advanced radiological services, hospital management, manpower planning, infrastructure development, and policy implementation, making him one of the senior officers entrusted with shaping the future direction of military healthcare.
As Additional DGAFMS (E&S), Major General Saini will play a crucial role in overseeing establishments, administrative services, manpower management, organizational planning, and various institutional functions that support the operational readiness of the Armed Forces Medical Services. The appointment carries significant responsibility, as AFMS continues to modernize its healthcare infrastructure while expanding specialized medical capabilities to meet the evolving needs of India’s armed forces.

सशस्त्र बल चिकित्सा सेवाओं (AFMS) के वरिष्ठ नेतृत्व को और मजबूती देते हुए 1 जुलाई 2026 को मेजर जनरल मनदीप सैनी ने अतिरिक्त महानिदेशक सशस्त्र बल चिकित्सा सेवाएं (Additional DGAFMS – Establishments & Services) के रूप में महानिदेशक सशस्त्र बल चिकित्सा सेवाएं (DGAFMS) कार्यालय में आधिकारिक रूप से पदभार ग्रहण किया। यह नियुक्ति तीन दशक से अधिक लंबे उनके उत्कृष्ट सैन्य चिकित्सा करियर, प्रभावी प्रशासनिक नेतृत्व और राष्ट्र सेवा के प्रति समर्पण का महत्वपूर्ण सम्मान मानी जा रही है।
आर्म्ड फोर्सेज मेडिकल कॉलेज (AFMC), पुणे के पूर्व छात्र और राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर प्रतिष्ठित रेडियोलॉजिस्ट मेजर जनरल मनदीप सैनी सैन्य चिकित्सा, अस्पताल प्रबंधन, प्रशासनिक नेतृत्व और संस्थागत विकास के क्षेत्र में व्यापक अनुभव रखते हैं। उन्होंने अपने पूरे करियर में चिकित्सा उत्कृष्टता और प्रशासनिक दक्षता का उत्कृष्ट संतुलन प्रस्तुत किया है।
नई जिम्मेदारी संभालने से पहले वे AFMC पुणे में ब्रिगेडियर (प्रशासन) के रूप में कार्यरत थे। इस दौरान उन्होंने देश के सबसे प्रतिष्ठित सैन्य चिकित्सा संस्थानों में से एक के प्रशासन को सुदृढ़ बनाने, चिकित्सा शिक्षा की गुणवत्ता बढ़ाने, संस्थागत प्रबंधन को आधुनिक बनाने तथा स्वास्थ्य सेवाओं की कार्यकुशलता को मजबूत करने में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई।
35 वर्षों से अधिक के अपने सैन्य चिकित्सा करियर में मेजर जनरल सैनी ने अनेक महत्वपूर्ण चिकित्सकीय और प्रशासनिक दायित्वों का सफलतापूर्वक निर्वहन किया है। रेडियोलॉजी के क्षेत्र में उनकी विशेषज्ञता के साथ-साथ अस्पताल प्रबंधन, चिकित्सा अवसंरचना, मानव संसाधन प्रबंधन, संस्थागत योजना और नीति क्रियान्वयन में उनका अनुभव उन्हें सशस्त्र बल चिकित्सा सेवाओं के वरिष्ठ नेतृत्व में एक महत्वपूर्ण स्थान प्रदान करता है।
Additional DGAFMS (E&S) के रूप में वे चिकित्सा संस्थानों की प्रशासनिक व्यवस्था, स्थापना संबंधी मामलों, मानव संसाधन प्रबंधन, संगठनात्मक योजना, चिकित्सा अवसंरचना के विकास तथा विभिन्न संस्थागत सेवाओं के समन्वय की महत्वपूर्ण जिम्मेदारी संभालेंगे। वर्तमान समय में जब भारतीय सशस्त्र बल चिकित्सा सेवाएं आधुनिक तकनीक, डिजिटल स्वास्थ्य सेवाओं, उन्नत चिकित्सा अनुसंधान और विशेषीकृत उपचार सुविधाओं का विस्तार कर रही हैं, तब यह पद अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण माना जाता है।
