Major General Bharat Mehtani Assumes Command of Karnataka and Kerala Sub Area, Pays Tribute to Fallen Heroes

Major General Bharat Mehtani officially assumed command of the Karnataka and Kerala Sub Area on 30 May 2026, taking over a key operational and administrative appointment of the Indian Army responsible for military establishments and strategic coordination across the two southern states.
A highly experienced and decorated officer, Major General Mehtani brings with him more than three decades of distinguished military service. During his illustrious career, he has served in diverse terrains and theatres of operations across the country, gaining extensive operational, command, and staff experience in challenging environments ranging from high-altitude regions to desert sectors and other strategically significant areas.
Upon assuming command, Major General Mehtani paid homage to the brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in service of the nation. In a solemn gesture, he honored the memory of the fallen warriors whose courage and dedication continue to inspire generations of soldiers serving in the Indian Armed Forces.
Addressing officers, Junior Commissioned Officers, and troops under his command, the General Officer emphasized the importance of maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, operational readiness, and military excellence. He exhorted all ranks to continue striving for excellence across the entire spectrum of military operations, administration, training, and welfare activities.
His appointment comes at a time when the Indian Army is actively pursuing modernization, technological integration, and enhanced jointness among the armed forces. The Karnataka and Kerala Sub Area plays a significant role in supporting military operations, veteran welfare initiatives, logistics management, civil-military cooperation, and the administration of numerous military stations spread across Southern India.
Defence officials noted that Major General Mehtani’s vast experience and leadership credentials are expected to further strengthen the operational efficiency and administrative capabilities of the formation. His extensive exposure to different operational environments and command responsibilities will contribute significantly to the Indian Army’s ongoing efforts to enhance preparedness and effectiveness.
The assumption of command ceremony reflected the Indian Army’s enduring traditions of leadership transition, professionalism, and commitment to national service. As Major General Bharat Mehtani begins his new tenure, expectations remain high that his leadership will further reinforce the formation’s contribution to national security and military excellence.

मेजर जनरल भरत मेहतानी ने संभाली कर्नाटक एवं केरल सब एरिया की कमान, शहीद वीरों को दी श्रद्धांजलि

भारतीय सेना के वरिष्ठ अधिकारी मेजर जनरल भरत मेहतानी ने 30 मई 2026 को कर्नाटक एवं केरल सब एरिया की कमान आधिकारिक रूप से संभाल ली। यह नियुक्ति भारतीय सेना की एक महत्वपूर्ण प्रशासनिक एवं संचालनात्मक जिम्मेदारी मानी जाती है, जो दक्षिण भारत के दोनों राज्यों में सेना के विभिन्न प्रतिष्ठानों, सैन्य गतिविधियों और समन्वय से जुड़ी है।
मेजर जनरल भरत मेहतानी तीन दशकों से अधिक लंबे और गौरवशाली सैन्य करियर का अनुभव अपने साथ लेकर आए हैं। अपने विशिष्ट सैन्य जीवन के दौरान उन्होंने देश के विभिन्न भू-भागों और संचालन क्षेत्रों में सेवा दी है। ऊंचे पर्वतीय क्षेत्रों, रेगिस्तानी इलाकों और अन्य संवेदनशील सैन्य मोर्चों पर कार्य करते हुए उन्होंने व्यापक संचालनात्मक, नेतृत्व और स्टाफ अनुभव अर्जित किया है।
कमान संभालने के बाद मेजर जनरल मेहतानी ने राष्ट्र की रक्षा करते हुए सर्वोच्च बलिदान देने वाले वीर सैनिकों को श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित की। उन्होंने शहीद जवानों के अदम्य साहस, समर्पण और बलिदान को नमन करते हुए कहा कि उनकी प्रेरणा भारतीय सेना के प्रत्येक सैनिक को राष्ट्र सेवा के लिए निरंतर प्रेरित करती रहेगी।
इस अवसर पर उन्होंने अधिकारियों, जूनियर कमीशंड अधिकारियों तथा सैनिकों को संबोधित करते हुए सभी रैंकों से अपने कर्तव्यों का सर्वोच्च मानकों के साथ निर्वहन करने का आह्वान किया। उन्होंने कहा कि सेना के प्रत्येक सदस्य को संचालनात्मक तैयारियों, प्रशिक्षण, प्रशासनिक दक्षता और कल्याणकारी गतिविधियों के प्रत्येक क्षेत्र में उत्कृष्टता प्राप्त करने के लिए निरंतर प्रयासरत रहना चाहिए।
कर्नाटक एवं केरल सब एरिया भारतीय सेना के लिए एक महत्वपूर्ण संरचना है, जो सैन्य प्रतिष्ठानों के प्रबंधन, रसद सहायता, पूर्व सैनिक कल्याण, नागरिक-सैन्य सहयोग तथा विभिन्न प्रशासनिक दायित्वों के संचालन में अहम भूमिका निभाती है। वर्तमान समय में जब भारतीय सेना आधुनिकीकरण, स्वदेशी रक्षा तकनीकों के समावेशन और तीनों सेनाओं के बीच बेहतर समन्वय की दिशा में तेजी से आगे बढ़ रही है, ऐसे में अनुभवी नेतृत्व का महत्व और बढ़ जाता है।
रक्षा सूत्रों का मानना है कि मेजर जनरल मेहतानी का व्यापक अनुभव और नेतृत्व क्षमता इस गठन की कार्यक्षमता को और मजबूत बनाएगी। विभिन्न संचालन क्षेत्रों में उनकी सेवाओं से प्राप्त अनुभव सेना की तैयारियों और संगठनात्मक दक्षता को नई मजबूती प्रदान करेगा।
