Major General G Srinivas Assumes Command as GOC, Telangana & Andhra Sub Area; Veteran Officer Takes Charge as Local Military Authority

The Indian Army witnessed an important leadership transition on 1 July 2026 as Major General G Srinivas, VSM, officially assumed command as the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Telangana & Andhra Sub Area (TASA). The appointment places an accomplished and highly experienced Army officer at the helm of one of the key sub-area formations responsible for military administration, coordination, and support activities across the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Before formally assuming command, Major General G Srinivas paid solemn homage to the nation’s brave soldiers at the Veerula Smarak, honouring the supreme sacrifice of Indian Army personnel who laid down their lives in the service of the nation. The wreath-laying ceremony reflected the Army’s enduring tradition of remembering its fallen heroes before the commencement of every major command responsibility.
An officer known for his professional excellence, operational expertise, and administrative leadership, Major General Srinivas brings with him decades of distinguished military service. Throughout his career, he has served in a variety of command, staff, instructional, and operational appointments, gaining extensive experience in military leadership, operational planning, logistics, and personnel management.
As the General Officer Commanding, Telangana & Andhra Sub Area, Major General Srinivas will also function as the Local Military Authority (LMA) for the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. In this role, he will oversee military establishments, coordinate with civil administration, support joint security initiatives, facilitate military-civil cooperation, and supervise a wide range of administrative, welfare, ceremonial, and operational support functions across the region.
The Telangana & Andhra Sub Area plays an important role in ensuring effective military administration and maintaining close coordination with various civil authorities during national events, disaster relief operations, internal security support, veteran welfare initiatives, recruitment activities, and military infrastructure management. The formation also contributes significantly to strengthening civil-military relations while supporting operational units deployed across the country.
Major General Srinivas is widely respected for his sound operational judgement, strategic vision, and administrative acumen. His experience in handling diverse military responsibilities is expected to further strengthen the efficiency and effectiveness of the Telangana & Andhra Sub Area. Under his leadership, the formation is expected to continue enhancing operational support, organizational excellence, and community engagement while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism.
A recipient of the Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM), Major General Srinivas has been recognised for his distinguished service to the nation. His appointment reflects the Indian Army’s confidence in his leadership capabilities and his proven ability to manage complex operational and administrative responsibilities.
The assumption of command by Major General G Srinivas marks the beginning of a new phase for the Telangana & Andhra Sub Area, with expectations of continued excellence in military administration, veteran welfare, civil-military cooperation, and organizational effectiveness under his experienced leadership.

भारतीय सेना में 1 जुलाई 2026 को एक महत्वपूर्ण नेतृत्व परिवर्तन के तहत मेजर जनरल जी श्रीनिवास, VSM ने तेलंगाना एवं आंध्र सब एरिया (Telangana & Andhra Sub Area – TASA) के जनरल ऑफिसर कमांडिंग (GOC) के रूप में आधिकारिक रूप से पदभार ग्रहण किया। इस नियुक्ति के साथ उन्होंने तेलंगाना और आंध्र प्रदेश में भारतीय सेना के लोकल मिलिट्री अथॉरिटी (Local Military Authority) की महत्वपूर्ण जिम्मेदारी भी संभाल ली।
पदभार ग्रहण करने से पूर्व मेजर जनरल जी श्रीनिवास ने वीरुला स्मारक (Veerula Smarak) पहुंचकर राष्ट्र के लिए सर्वोच्च बलिदान देने वाले वीर सैनिकों को श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित की। पुष्पचक्र अर्पित कर उन्होंने भारतीय सेना की उस गौरवशाली परंपरा का निर्वहन किया, जिसके तहत किसी भी महत्वपूर्ण कमान का कार्यभार संभालने से पहले शहीद सैनिकों के प्रति सम्मान व्यक्त किया जाता है।
मेजर जनरल श्रीनिवास भारतीय सेना के एक अत्यंत अनुभवी और सम्मानित अधिकारी हैं। अपने लंबे सैन्य करियर के दौरान उन्होंने विभिन्न ऑपरेशनल, कमांड, स्टाफ और प्रशासनिक नियुक्तियों पर कार्य करते हुए नेतृत्व, सैन्य योजना, संसाधन प्रबंधन, लॉजिस्टिक्स तथा संगठनात्मक क्षमता का उत्कृष्ट प्रदर्शन किया है। उनके व्यापक अनुभव ने उन्हें भारतीय सेना के सक्षम और दूरदर्शी वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों की श्रेणी में स्थापित किया है।
जनरल ऑफिसर कमांडिंग, तेलंगाना एवं आंध्र सब एरिया के रूप में वे क्षेत्र में स्थित सैन्य प्रतिष्ठानों के प्रशासन, नागरिक प्रशासन के साथ समन्वय, सैन्य-सिविल सहयोग, पूर्व सैनिक कल्याण, आपदा राहत अभियानों, सुरक्षा संबंधी समन्वय, भर्ती गतिविधियों तथा विभिन्न प्रशासनिक एवं समारोह संबंधी दायित्वों का नेतृत्व करेंगे। लोकल मिलिट्री अथॉरिटी के रूप में उनकी भूमिका राज्य सरकारों और भारतीय सेना के बीच प्रभावी समन्वय स्थापित करने में भी अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण होगी।
तेलंगाना एवं आंध्र सब एरिया भारतीय सेना की एक महत्वपूर्ण प्रशासनिक संरचना है, जो सैन्य इकाइयों को आवश्यक प्रशासनिक सहायता प्रदान करने के साथ-साथ प्राकृतिक आपदाओं, मानवीय सहायता अभियानों, राष्ट्रीय आयोजनों, नागरिक-सैन्य सहयोग और पूर्व सैनिकों से जुड़े विभिन्न कार्यक्रमों में भी महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाती है। बदलते सुरक्षा परिदृश्य में इस गठन का महत्व लगातार बढ़ता जा रहा है।
