Massive Tree Plantation Drive Held at Maa Karni Teacher Training College in Collaboration with Rotary Club Aadya: Over 250 Saplings Planted to Promote Environmental Conservation

In a landmark step towards environmental sustainability and creating green educational campuses, Maa Karni Teacher Training College in Bikaner hosted a grand tree plantation drive in collaboration with Rotary Club Aadya. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teaching staff, and members of the Rotary Club, all united with a shared vision: to nurture nature and ensure a greener tomorrow.
Under this ambitious initiative, more than 250 saplings were planted within the college premises, including shade-giving, medicinal, and fruit-bearing plants. The campaign not only highlighted the importance of ecological balance but also underscored the role of educational institutions in fostering environmental consciousness among future educators.
Rotary Club Aadya Takes the Lead in Green Mission
The event was graced by prominent members of Rotary Club Aadya, including Secretary Sangeeta Shekhawat, Bharti Gehlot, Sheela Sankhla, and Nishita Surana. Speaking at the event, Rotary Secretary Sangeeta Shekhawat emphasized the club’s commitment not just to plantation, but to plant nurturing and sustainability.
“Our mission isn’t merely to plant trees, but to nurture them until they stand tall as oxygen-giving green warriors. Every sapling we plant today is an investment in our shared future,” she said.
Rtn. Nishita Surana, another key member of the club, shared a heartfelt message that struck a chord with the attendees:
“Every plant is a living being. When we plant a tree, we are gifting clean air to generations ahead. This is our responsibility, and it’s time we all rise to it.”
Educational Institutions as Environmental Catalysts
College Director Manak Vyas delivered an impactful address highlighting the pressing global environmental crisis and the crucial role of academic institutions in combating it.
“The environmental emergency is no longer a distant threat—it’s a current global concern. Through institutions like ours, we can amplify awareness and instill ecological responsibility in our students. They are the torchbearers of change.”
The event took a deeper turn with academic voices also reinforcing the message of sustainability and responsibility.
Dr. Ritu Shrimal, a senior faculty member, stated:
“When teacher trainees become sensitive towards nature, they evolve into not just educators but guardians of the environment. Events like this awaken a sense of social responsibility in them.”
Prof. Rekha Verma echoed similar sentiments:
“Education is not only about imparting knowledge—it is about shaping values. Tree plantation is a powerful medium to inspire students to think beyond the classroom and contribute meaningfully to society.”
Community Participation and Student Involvement Shine Through
The tree plantation event turned into a heartfelt community effort with full participation from the entire college staff and students. Names like Pankaj Acharya, Rakesh Vyas, Rakesh Purohit, Dr. Poonam Middha, Sarita Acharya, Shivji Chhangani, and Sudhir ji were part of the organizing and execution teams. Every individual, from faculty to trainees, took a pledge to not only plant but protect and water the saplings consistently.
The trainees were also educated about the medicinal and ecological benefits of various trees, encouraging them to form a long-lasting bond with the plants they planted.
Beyond Ceremony – Towards Long-Term Ecological Action
The plantation drive was not just symbolic but practical. Each trainee was allotted a sapling to care for over the coming months, fostering personal responsibility towards environmental protection.
“This is not a one-day event. We plan to track the growth of these trees, create student-led green care committees, and make this an annual commitment,” shared one of the event organizers from the teaching staff.
