Geographical Indications (GI) tag approved for five traditional artworks of Rajasthan viz. Jodhpur Bandhej work, Koftagiri Metal Craft of Udaipur, Nathdwara Pichhwai craft of Rajsamand, Bikaner Usta Kala, Hand embroidery art of Bikaner.

Dr.Rajiv Siwach, Chief General Manager shared that the project for GI registration of five products is supported by NABARD to preserve the intactness of disappearing artworks. This project will empower local communities by enhancing their income levels. He said that the project will safeguard the traditional knowledge and cultural expressions of the State through end to end support.
It is further indicated that these GIs will play an important role in rural off farm development, act as product differentiators, support brand building, create local employment, creating a regional brand, generating spin-off effects in tourism and gastronomy and conserving biodiversity. This will enhance product quality, improve market access, create awareness, strengthen producer’s capacity to enforce their rights.
NABARD in Rajasthan is undertaking various initiatives for the promotion of farm and off farm sector through skill development programmes, GI, promotion of farm and off farm producer organisations, exposure visits of farmers, development of watersheds and wadis for tribal people of the State. During FY 2022-23, NABARD disbursed an amount of Rs.31.04 crore on various developmental interventions in the State.
