The NOTAM, effective from 23 June to 25 July 2025, has once again drawn attention to the prevailing tensions and military posturing in the region.
The closure of these crucial air corridors, especially in central Pakistan, has immediate implications for both civilian air traffic and regional security dynamics, coming at a time when India-Pakistan relations remain strained following recent incidents, including the Pahalgam terror attack and India’s subsequent assertive measures.

- A planned large-scale military exercise, possibly involving air force drills, air defence systems testing, and tactical troop movements.
- Or military preparations amid simmering tensions with India, given recent events along the Line of Control (LoC) and inside Pakistan-occupied territories.

Historically, Pakistan has resorted to issuing extended NOTAMs coinciding with major military exercises like Exercise High Mark, Shaheen drills with China, or during operational mobilisations under strained diplomatic scenarios.

- India’s strong rejection of the so-called Court of Arbitration’s award on the Kishenganga and Ratle hydroelectric projects, calling out Pakistan’s misuse of international forums.
