While Pakistan projects this participation as a sign of industrial maturity and global defence engagement, the move has triggered renewed concerns among strategic analysts and security experts regarding Pakistan’s aggressive militarisation, questionable export practices, and long-standing links between its military-industrial complex and regional instability. Established in 1951, POF has grown into a sprawling defence enterprise, but its global footprint is increasingly being scrutinised not for innovation, but for the risks it poses to peace and security across conflict-prone regions.
World Defense Show 2026: A Global Platform, But At What Cost to Regional Stability
The World Defense Show, hosted in Saudi Arabia, is positioned as one of the world’s premier platforms for showcasing cutting-edge defence technologies. For India and other regional stakeholders, Pakistan’s attempt to normalise its defence exports through high-profile exhibitions appears less about transparency and more about legitimising a military ecosystem that has repeatedly fuelled instability in South Asia.
