PM Modi’s Mega Rajasthan Visit on 22 May: Infrastructure Push of Over ₹26,000 Crore; Focus on Rail, Roads, Energy, and Water

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Rajasthan on 22 May 2025 for one of the most extensive and high-impact infrastructure inaugurations and foundation stone-laying ceremonies in recent memory. His visit to Bikaner’s Palana and Deshnok regions will mark the dedication of development projects worth over ₹26,000 crore to the nation, covering sectors such as railways, roadways, energy, renewable power, water, and public health.
The Prime Minister will arrive in Bikaner and begin his day around 11 AM with a spiritual visit to the renowned Karni Mata Temple in Deshnok, a site of major religious and cultural importance. Following this, around 11:30 AM, he will inaugurate the redeveloped Deshnok Railway Station under the ambitious Amrit Bharat Station Scheme and flag off the Bikaner-Mumbai Express train.
Massive Rail Infrastructure Boost: Inauguration of 103 Amrit Stations Across 18 States
The Prime Minister will virtually inaugurate 103 Amrit stations located across 86 districts in 18 states and union territories, with a combined redevelopment cost exceeding ₹1,100 crore. These stations—modernized under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme—blend cutting-edge passenger amenities with architectural themes reflecting regional heritage and cultural legacy.
The Deshnok station has been redesigned with motifs from temple architecture, arches, and pillars inspired by the Karni Mata Temple. Other prominent examples include Telangana’s Begumpet station inspired by the Kakatiya Empire, Bihar’s Thave station featuring murals of Goddess Thavewali, and Gujarat’s Dakor station showcasing motifs of Lord Ranchhodrai. These stations are being transformed to offer barrier-free facilities for differently-abled passengers, sustainability features, and improved travel experiences.
Aligned with Indian Railways’ mission to achieve 100% electrification of its broad-gauge network, the PM will inaugurate or lay the foundation for several electrification projects. These include:
- Foundation Stone: Churu-Sadulpur Rail Line (58 km)
- Inaugurations:
- Suratgarh-Phalodi (336 km)
- Phulera-Degana (109 km)
- Udaipur-Himmatnagar (210 km)
- Phalodi-Jaisalmer (157 km)
- Samdari-Barmer (129 km)
These projects are crucial for improving operational efficiency, reducing carbon emissions, and enhancing connectivity in critical regions including border areas.
Highways to Borders: Strengthening Defence and Civilian Mobility
In a major push to road infrastructure, the PM will lay foundation stones for the construction of 3 vehicular underpasses and the widening and strengthening of multiple national highways. Seven key highway projects, with a cumulative worth of over ₹4,850 crore, will also be dedicated to the nation. These highways not only enhance civilian connectivity but are also strategically significant as they stretch to the India-Pakistan border, aiding faster movement of defence forces and equipment.
Green Energy Expansion: Mega Solar and Transmission Projects for Rajasthan
To promote clean and sustainable energy, PM Modi will launch and dedicate several power projects in Bikaner, Nawa, Didwana, and Kuchaman. He will lay the foundation for evacuation infrastructure under Part B PowerGrid Sirohi Transmission Ltd and Part E PowerGrid Mewar Transmission Ltd.
Projects include:
- Bikaner Solar Project
- Evacuation systems from PowerGrid Neemuch and Bikaner complex
- Expansion of transformation capacity at Fatehgarh-II Power Station
These projects are designed to reduce dependence on fossil fuels, lower emissions, and help Rajasthan emerge as a clean energy powerhouse.
State Government Projects: 25 Flagship Schemes Get Central Push
In addition to centrally funded programs, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate and lay foundation stones for 25 major state government projects aimed at improving infrastructure, healthcare, roadways, and water availability across Rajasthan.
Highlights include:
- Over 750 km of state highway upgrades (worth ₹3,240 crore)
- Development of additional 900 km of new roadways
- Power projects in Bikaner and Udaipur
- Inauguration of nursing colleges in Rajsamand, Pratapgarh, Bhilwara, and Dholpur
- Launch of the Jhunjhunu rural drinking water and fluorosis mitigation project
- Urban water supply upgrades in 7 cities of Pali district under AMRUT 2.0
This multifaceted developmental agenda is expected to transform Rajasthan’s connectivity, energy security, health infrastructure, and water availability, especially in arid and border districts.
