Bikaner, Rajasthan — In a bold and visionary statement made during his recent visit to Bikaner, Rajeev Dutta, President of the Rajasthan Wrestling Association, announced a sweeping plan to revitalize wrestling across the state. Speaking to media personnel, Dutta unveiled a state-wide strategy focused on nurturing rural talent, empowering girls, and placing Rajasthan on the global wrestling map—particularly with an eye on the 2036 Olympic Games.

Calling wrestling a “historically and culturally rooted sport of India,” Dutta emphasized the urgent need to reconnect the sport with today’s youth. He expressed concern that although wrestling has contributed to 25% of India’s total Olympic medals, most of those laurels have been won by athletes from Haryana due to superior infrastructure and funding.
“Rajasthan, despite its legacy of traditional wrestling, has lagged behind. We aim to change that narrative with concrete planning and inclusive outreach,” Dutta said.
Every District to Have Its Own Wrestling Role Model
In what is being seen as a game-changing commitment, Dutta declared that the Rajasthan Wrestling Association would work to develop one wrestling role model from each district.
This ambitious vision includes:
- Survey and upgradation of wrestling infrastructure
- Distribution of mats and gym equipment
- Deployment of certified coaches
- Establishment of accessible training centres in urban and rural belts alike
“We will identify and invest in raw talent, irrespective of their background. Talent will be the only benchmark,” Dutta asserted.
Empowering Rural Girls Through Wrestling
A key highlight of the President’s plan is the focused inclusion of girls from rural Rajasthan in competitive wrestling. Dutta shared that coaching facilities will be specially designed to be accessible and inclusive for girls.
He cited the example of a young girl from Bhilwara, who has already brought home a national medal for Rajasthan—proving that rural female athletes can shine when given the right guidance and facilities.
“Our daughters in villages are not short on talent, they’re short on exposure and encouragement. That gap ends now,” Dutta pledged.
Khelo India Participation, Cash Rewards, and Motivation
Acknowledging the success of Rajasthan’s wrestlers in the Khelo India Games, Dutta announced that gold medal winners at the national level would now receive up to ₹1 lakh in cash prizes as a motivational boost.
“The more we recognize their achievements, the more seriously society and families will support sporting careers,” he noted.
Mission 2036 Olympics: Rajasthan Wrestlers to Bring Home Glory
In perhaps the most ambitious statement of the visit, Rajeev Dutta set a long-term target: Rajasthan’s wrestlers should bring home the most medals for India in the 2036 Olympics.
“From now, every single year will be part of our Olympic preparation roadmap,” Dutta stated, confirming that a state-wide network of wrestling academies would be strengthened with private, public, and association support.
Unified Training System and Transparent Selection Process
To eliminate regional disparities, Dutta confirmed that the wrestling training ecosystem would be standardized across all districts. He assured that the Association’s functioning will be transparent and free from favoritism, allowing only meritorious athletes to progress.

बीकानेर। राजस्थान कुश्ती संघ के अध्यक्ष राजीव दत्ता ने बीकानेर प्रवास के दौरान मीडिया से बातचीत में स्पष्ट किया कि कुश्ती को पूरे राज्य में एक नई दिशा दी जाएगी। उन्होंने कुश्ती के उत्थान के लिए जिला स्तर पर ढांचे के विकास, संसाधनों की उपलब्धता और खिलाड़ियों की निष्पक्ष चयन प्रणाली की योजना साझा की।

उन्होंने कहा कि भारत के ओलंपिक पदकों में 25% योगदान कुश्ती का है, लेकिन इनमें से अधिकांश पदक हरियाणा जैसे राज्यों से आए हैं, जहां बेहतर सुविधाएं और खेल नीतियां मौजूद हैं।

राज्य के हर जिले से एक रोल मॉडल पहलवान तैयार करने के उद्देश्य से दत्ता ने कहा कि संघ द्वारा कुश्ती सुविधाओं का सर्वेक्षण किया जा रहा है और आवश्यकता अनुसार: ,मेट्स (Wrestling Mats),ओपन जिम और फिटनेस इक्विपमेंट,योग्य कोच,प्रशिक्षण केंद्रों का निर्माण किया जाएगा।
उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि प्रतिभा ही चयन का आधार होगी, न कि जाति, वर्ग या क्षेत्र।
ग्रामीण बालिकाओं को मिलेगा विशेष अवसर
दत्ता ने खास तौर पर कहा कि कुश्ती में राज्य की बालिकाओं, विशेष रूप से ग्रामीण अंचलों की भागीदारी को बढ़ावा देना प्राथमिकता में शामिल है।
उन्होंने भीलवाड़ा की एक बेटी का उदाहरण दिया, जिसने हाल ही में राष्ट्रीय पदक जीतकर यह साबित कर दिया कि यदि सही मार्गदर्शन मिले, तो लड़कियां किसी से कम नहीं।
खेलो इंडिया में दमदार प्रदर्शन, गोल्ड मेडल पर ₹1 लाख इनाम
“खेलो इंडिया” जैसे राष्ट्रीय स्तर के मंच पर राजस्थान के पहलवानों ने अपनी उपस्थिति दर्ज कराई है। इस सफलता को और बढ़ावा देने के लिए दत्ता ने घोषणा की कि गोल्ड मेडल जीतने वाले पहलवानों को ₹1 लाख तक की राशि बतौर पुरस्कार दी जाएगी।
